This study aims to review the use of graph databases in construction research. Based on the diagnosis of the current research status, a future research direction is proposed. The use of graph databases in construction research has been increasing because of the efficiency in expressing complex relations between entities in construction big data. However, no study has been conducted to review systematically the status quo of graph databases. This study analyzes 42 papers in total that deployed a graph model and graph database in construction research, both quantitatively and qualitatively. A keyword analysis, topic modeling, and qualitative content analysis were conducted. The review identified the research topics, types of data sources that compose a graph, and the graph database application methods and algorithms. Although the current research is still in a nascent stage, the graph database research has great potential to develop into an advanced stage, fused with artificial intelligence (AI) in the future, based on the active usage trends this study revealed.

This paper analyzes the robustness of the network based on the centrality of vertices in the graph. In this paper, a random graph is generated and a modified graph is constructed by adding or removing vertices or edges in the generated random graph. And then we analyze the robustness of the graph by observing changes in the centrality of the random graph and the modified graph. In the process modifying a graph, we changes some parts of the graph, which has high values of centralities, not in the whole. We study how these additional changes affect the robustness of the graph when changes occurring a group that has higher centralities than in the whole.

Parallel execution of computational mechanics codes requires efficient mesh-partitioning techniques. These mesh-partitioning techniques divide the mesh into specified number of submeshes of approximately the same size and at the same time, minimise the interface nodes of the submeshes. This paper describes a new mesh partitioning technique, employing Genetic Algorithms. The proposed algorithm operates on the deduced graph (dual or nodal graph) of the given finite element mesh rather than directly on the mesh itself. The algorithm works by first constructing a coarse graph approximation using an automatic graph coarsening method. The coarse graph is partitioned and the results are interpolated onto the original graph to initialise an optimisation of the graph partition problem. In practice, hierarchy of (usually more than two) graphs are used to obtain the final graph partition. The proposed partitioning algorithm is applied to graphs derived from unstructured finite element meshes describing practical engineering problems and also several example graphs related to finite element meshes given in the literature. The test results indicate that the proposed GA based graph partitioning algorithm generates high quality partitions and are superior to spectral and multilevel graph partitioning algorithms.

In this paper, we redesign, implement, and evaluate ShareSafe (Based on SecGraph), an open-source secure graph data sharing/publishing platform. Within ShareSafe, we propose De-anonymization Quantification Module and Recommendation Module. Besides, we model the attackers' background knowledge and evaluate the relation between graph data privacy and the structure of the graph. To the best of our knowledge, ShareSafe is the first platform that enables users to perform data perturbation, utility evaluation, De-A evaluation, and Privacy Quantification. Leveraging ShareSafe, we conduct a more comprehensive and advanced utility and privacy evaluation. The results demonstrate that (1) The risk of privacy leakage of anonymized graph increases with the attackers' background knowledge. (2) For a successful de-anonymization attack, the seed mapping, even relatively small, plays a much more important role than the auxiliary graph. (3) The structure of graph has a fundamental and significant effect on the utility and privacy of the graph. (4) There is no optimal anonymization/de-anonymization algorithm. For different environment, the performance of each algorithm varies from each other.

In this paper, a classification method of random graph models is proposed and it is based on centralities of the random graphs. Similarity between two random graphs is measured for the classification of random graph models. The similarity between two random graph models $G^{R_1}$ and $G^{R_2}$ is defined by the distance of $G^{R_1}$ and $G^{R_2}$, where $G^{R_2}$ is a set of random graph $G^{R_2}=\{G_1^{R_2},...,G_p^{R_2}\}$ that have the same number of nodes and edges as random graph $G^{R_1}$. The distance($G^{R_1},G^{R_2}$) is obtained by comparing centralities of $G^{R_1}$ and $G^{R_2}$. Through the computational experiments, we show that it is possible to compare random graph models regardless of the number of vertices or edges of the random graphs. Also, it is possible to identify and classify the properties of the random graph models by measuring and comparing similarities between random graph models.

Current graph mining algorithms suffers from performance issues when querying patterns are in increasingly massive network graphs. However, from our observation most data graphs inherently contains recurring semantic subgraphs/substructures. Most graph mining algorithms treat them as independent subgraphs and perform computations on them redundantly, which result in performance degradation when processing massive graphs. In this paper, we propose an algorithm which exploits these inherent recurring subgraphs/substructures to reduce graph sizes so that redundant computations performed by the traditional graph mining algorithms are reduced. Experimental results show that our graph compression approach achieve up to 69% reduction in graph sizes over the real datasets. Moreover, required time to construct the compressed graphs is also reasonably reduced.

The transient phenomenon of self-powered energy-harvesting is assessed using a bond-graph method. The bond-graph is an energy-based approach to describing physical-dynamic systems. It shows power flow graphically, which helps us understand the behavior of complicated systems in simple terms. Because energy-harvesting involves conversion of power in mechanical form to the electrical one, the bond-graph is a good tool to analyze this power flow. Although the bond-graph method can be used to calculate the dynamics of combining mechanical and electrical systems simultaneously, it has not been used for harvesting analysis. We demonstrate the usability and versatility of bond-graph for not only steady analysis but also transient analysis of harvesting.

An automatic transmission model using the bond graph techniques is developed for analyzing shift characteristics of vehicles. Bond graph models can be systemically manipulated to yield state space equations of standard form. Bond graph techniques are applied for modeling overall automatic transmission systems and shift models. A fuzzy controller is synthesized for the verification of a shifting model in the ${1^st} gear to the {2^nd}$ gear. Simulation results show the fitness of models by the bond graph techniques.

Relational databases have a notion of normalization, in which the model for storing data is standardized according to the organization's business processes or data operations. However, the graph database is relatively early in this standardization and has a high degree of freedom in modeling. Therefore various models can be created with the same data, depending on the database designers. The essences of the graph database are two aspects. First, the graph database allows accessing relationships between the objects semantically. Second, it makes relationships between entities as important as individual data. Thus increasing the degree of freedom in modeling and providing the modeling developers with a more creative system. This paper introduces different graph models with test data. It compares the query performances by the results of response speeds to the query executions per graph model to find out how the efficiency of each model can be maximized.
A dynamic graph is suitable for representing and managing dynamic changable obstacles or terrain information in 2D/3D games such as RPG and Strategy Simulation Games. We propose a dynamic hierarchical graph model with fixed level to perform a quick A* path finding. We divide a graph into subgraphs by using space classification and space model, and construct a hierarchical graph. And then we perform a quick path fading on the graph by using our dynamic graph operators. With our experiments we show that this graph model has efficient properties for finding path in a dynamic game environment.
