Improvement of Surface Quality and Development of Composite Wheel for Passenger Cars Manufactured by RTM (RTM공법을 이용한 승용차용 복합재료 휠의 표면정도 향상 및 개발)

  • Since passenger cars require five wheels including a spare, the weight reduction of wheels without sacrificing performance is important. Recently, the structured components of cars made of steel are replaced by composites. plastics and other nonmetallic materials such as aluminum and magnesium for weight reduction. From these new tried materials are most promising due to their high specific stiffness and specific strength. The composites manufactured by resin transfer molding (RTM) process has not only low cost for the manufacturing but also reduces the lead time and development because the molds for RTM is easy to manufacture. In this work, composite wheels for passenger cars were designed and manufactured by RTM process. Since surface quality of wheels is important for passenger cars, the optimal stacking sequence for composite wheels was selected considering surface quality and mechanical properties. Also, the manufacturing method for the composite mold was depicted.

  • 우주선, 항공기, 수송차량 등은 기능은 집적 다양화 그리고 성능의 고도와 됨에 따라 에너지 효율성을 위해 구조부재의 경량화가 중요성은 증가되고 있다. 경량화 구조부재 재료 중에는 알루미늄 합금, 세라믹, 복합재료 등이 개발되어 우주선, 항공기, 수송차량 구조부재에 적용하기 위한 많은 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 이들 중, 20세기 초 알루미늄합금이 초 경량화 구조부재로서 많이 이용되었다. 본 논문에서는 경량화 재료 중 이방성을 가지는 복합재료를 구조부재에 적용하였다. 그러나 구조부재에 적용되기 위한 이방성 복합 재료는 강한 충격 이후 취성의 특징 때문에 하중과 흡수에너지가 급속히 감소하는 단점을 가지고 있다. 그래서 이방성 복합재료의 각 층간을 완전히 접합하여 성질이 매우 우수한 부재를 제작할 수 있는 Autoclave 성형법으로 제작하였다. 이방성 복합재료 중 CFRP를 설계 메커니즘 변수에 따라 Autoclave 성형을 하고 하중과 흡수에너지가 높음 평가하기 위해 굽힘실험을 하였다.

Reciprocating sliding wear behavior of plastics against steel (플라스틱재료의 왕복동마찰마멸거동)

  • Friction and wear test was performed for nylon, acetal resin, and PTFE(polytetrafluoroethylene) under reciprocating dry sliding conditions against a steel counterpart. Friction coefficient and specific wear rate were analysed as a function of sliding distance and applied load. The worn surfaces of plate and disc specimens were observed using SEM(Scanning Electron Microscopy). The experimental results show that acetal resin exhibited lowest wear rates whereas PTFE possessed lowest friction coefficient. The prominent wear mechanisms found were adhesion and abrasion.

  • Extruders can be basically divided into bisk and screw type of extruders. Though plastic extruders are often used for its simplicity for water and oil transportation pumps, these days screw extruders are mostly used. Screws are used in many extrusion processes to manufacture complex and complicated shaped parts made of plastics, medicine materials, food, polymer composites, iron and ceramic powders, etc. Also, material correction of deformities is caused by flow and physicochemical reaction phenomenonand material extrusion is processed according to heat transfer. various material comes to hopper because extruder has function by blender and mixing of materials can go well before come out through dice. These change process is so complicated that process condition is decided by trial and error that process condition is underground mainly at extrusion molding process.

  • Recently, the study for filling imbalance in thermoplastic polymer has gradually been increased. However, it is hard to find the researches for filling imbalance of thermoplastic elastomer(TPE). The experiment of filling imbalance was conducted for the three kinds of thermoplastic vulcanizes(TPVs) and PP polymer in the mold with geometrically balanced runner system(Unary Branch Type Runner System). In this experiment, the effects of the melt temperature, injection pressure and injection speed on the filling imbalance were investigated. There was also the imbalance in TPV injection molding process as well as in conventional injection molding with plastics. The tendency of filling imbalance in TPV injection molding specially decreased by taking place the hesitation of TPV melt.

  • Basic studies for the treatment of particulate organic substances contained in wastewater by flotation have been conducted. Four kinds of plastics were chosen as the possibly existing organic particles in wastewater and the Zisman plots for these substances were constructed by measuring the contact angle of liquids on their surfaces. The critical surface tensions for these organic substances were estimated based on the constructed Zisman plot and the floatability of organic substances were regarded to be related with their molecular structure. The existence of dissolved organic substances such as a surfactant was observed to affect the extent of flotation of particulate organics. In addition, the consideration of work of adhesion was thought to be better than adopting the critical surface tension as the analytical basis in the operational design of flotation process of organic particles.

  • 초미세 발포 플라스틱(MCPs; Microcellular Plastics)공정은 기존 발포 플라스틱의 장점을 보존하면서도 그 동안 발포 플라스틱의 단점으로 지적되어온 충격강도, 인성, 경도 등의 기계적 특성저하를 개선하기 위하여 개발되었다. 플라스틱 내에 지름 수 십 $\mu\textrm{m}$ 내외의 기포를 $10^{9}$-$10^{15}$cel1/㎤의 밀도로 발생시키는 초미세 발포공법은 내부의 미세 구조로 인하여 재료비를 절약하면서 우수한 기계적 특성을 나타내는 플라스틱 재료를 성형할 수 있게 하며, 발포제로 초 임계 상태의 불활성 기체($CO_2$, $N_2$, etc)를 사용하기 때문에 기존의 발포 공정에서 발포제로 사용했던 유해 화학 물이나 프레온, 부탄으로 인해 발생할 수 있는 환경 문제를 해결할 수 있다는 장점을 지닌다.(중략)

  • 고성능 섬유강화 복합재료는 단위 중량당 강성과 강도가 높으면서 가격도 저렴하여 여러 산업분야에서 널리 사용되고 있으며 특히, 경량임에도 충격에 대한 저항성이 우수하여 방탄재료로의 군사적, 민간용 이용도가 날로 증가되고 있다. 그러나 고속 충격 탄자와 같이 관통성이 뛰어난 위협 조건으로부터의 방호를 목적으로 장갑을 설계할 매는 단일 재료만으로는 충분한 방탄 성능을 가질 수 없는 경우가 많다. 이런 경우는 충격 전면에서 충격 탄자의 탄두를 일차적으로 무디게 하거나 파쇄시켜 탄자의 형상을 변화시키고, 변형된 탄자의 계속적인 관통에 대한 저항능력이 우수한 재료를 사용하여 두가지 성질을 동시에 만족시키는 장갑재료의 개발이 요구되고 꾸준히 연구되어 왔다.(중략)

  • 국내 자동차메이커는 디자인고급화를 위하여 08년 이후 다양한 표면처리를 적용하고 있다. 특히 외장부품은 다크크롬, 짙은크롬, 반광등은 코드화 작업을 마쳤다. 2010년이후에는 겨울철 제설염으로 인한 6가크롬도금의 취약성을 발견하고 2011년 제설염 테스트 규격개정을 작업을 완료하였으며, 2015년이후 출시 차량은 6가크롬은 삭제하였으며, 3가크롬도금으로 큰 전환이 일어났다. 또한 라디에이타그릴은 대형화흐름으로 기존의 $50dm^2$이하의 디자인이 $100dm^2$이상 디자인으로 변경하는 추세이다. 이러한 변화에 도금공장은 기존라인으로 생산이 어려워 신규LINE 증설로 대응하고 있으나, 불량의 증가로 채산성이 악화되고 있다.
