  • The South Korean construction industry has grown larger and more complex through collaboration with various fields. In the construction industry, faced with the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, the importance of project managers is growing for successful construction projects. Amid these changes, it is necessary to grasp the capabilities and importance of project managers for the development of the South Korean construction industry and analyze how they affect it. This study aims to review the required capabilities of the project manager and suggest implications with a comparison of current capabilities and importance. To this end, a survey was conducted on the importance and Performance of the project manager. Using collected data, changes in capabilities are identified by comparing the Performance and importance of project managers respectively in 2010 and 2022 through the Importance - Performance Analysis (IPA) method. The analysis results show changes in the Performance and importance of project managers according to changes in the construction environment, and the insufficient capabilities of them. Based on this research, it is expected that efficient construction management will be possible amid changes in the construction environment by presenting the method to improve necessary capabilities to project managers in South Korea.

  • An error analysis is very important to estimate performance of a precision machine. This study proposes an error analysis for a new parallel device, a cubic parallel device. The cubic parallel manipulator has error sources including upper and lower universal joint errors due to the directional changes in the link and actuation errors. The maximum errors of the end effector are affected by the axial direction changes of each links and the clearances of the universal joints when the parallel manipulator is moving along a path. It is found that the changes of errors mostly occur at the positions where the directions of exerting link forces shift. The error analysis is based on an error model formed from the relation between the universal point errors and the end-effector accuracy. The analysis method can be also used in predicting the accuracy of other parallel devices.

  • In this paper, we present a wearable measurement system for monitoring rounded shoulders. The system contains a shoulder correction band and a stretch sensor that can correct and measure shoulder posture, respectively. The capacitance of the stretch sensor changes linearly according to changes in the shoulders. To verify measurement, a motion analysis system was used as the reference to compare the change in the rounded angles of the shoulders and the change in the stretch sensor's capacitance. The results indicated that there is a high correlation between the two changes and the system can be used as a monitoring device for rounded shoulders.

  • It is very important for the competitiveness and sustainable management of enterprises that the rapid changes in the managerial environments quickly and accurately are responded. For example, the large-scale investment accompanied by bad alternatives in accordance with misunderstanding of the managerial environments yields the huge cost and effort to modify and improve. In firm management, the quality of products and the productivity are influenced by changes of the endogenous factors yielded in manufacturing process and the exogenous factors as market, etc. These changes include not only changes in 4M (man, machine, material, method) but also those in the market, competitors, and technologies in the process of commodification, i.e., first, such disturbances make dispersion of the process big and odd. By Shewhart chart it can be checked that the process monitored is control-in or out. Business administration executes activities for input stabilization by monitoring changes in 4Ms, comparing with the standards, and taking measures for any abnormality. Second, TRM (technology road map) is to prospect product deployment and technological trend by predicting technologies in the competitive environment as the market, and to suggest the future directions of business. So, TRM must be modified and improved according to DR (design review) stages and changes in mass-production like input material change. Therefore, a role of TRM in input stabilization for reducing cost and man-hour is important. This study purposed to suggest that the environment changes are classified into endogenous factors and exogenous factors in production process, and then, quality and productivity should be stabilized efficiently through connection between TRM and input stabilization, and to prove that it is more effective for the display industry to connect TRM with input stabilization rather than to use TRM separately.

  • This paper analyzes the robustness of the network based on the centrality of vertices in the graph. In this paper, a random graph is generated and a modified graph is constructed by adding or removing vertices or edges in the generated random graph. And then we analyze the robustness of the graph by observing changes in the centrality of the random graph and the modified graph. In the process modifying a graph, we changes some parts of the graph, which has high values of centralities, not in the whole. We study how these additional changes affect the robustness of the graph when changes occurring a group that has higher centralities than in the whole.

  • In this paper, we present the software on the development of the computerized imaging system for diagnosis and treatment plannig of orthodontics and orthognathic surgery. Soft tissue changes followed by orthognathic surgery mainly depends on surgical movements of hard tissue. Then, the stepwise multiple regression method was used to investigate the soft tissue changes followed by hard tissue changes. As a result of this research, we were able to develop a system which diagnoses automatic X-ray images and predicts soft tissue changes after othognathic surgery.

  • A proton therapy facility is under development at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST). To meet the need for fast energy changes during treatments, a beamline control system (BCS) has been designed and implemented. The BCS coordinates and controls various beamline devices by adopting a distributed architecture divided into three layers: the client, server, and device layers. Among these, the design of the server layer is the key to realize fast energy changes. The server layer adopts the submodule programming paradigm and optimizes the data interface among modules, allowing the main workflow to be separated from the device workflow and data. Furthermore, this layer uses asynchronous, multithreaded, and thread-locking methods to improve the system's ability to operation efficiently and securely. Notably, to evaluate the changing energy status over time, a dynamic node update method is adopted, which can dynamically adjust the update frequency of variable nodes. This method not only meets the demand for fast updates on energy changes but also reduces the server's communication load in the steady state. This method is tested on a virtual platform, and the results are as expected.

  • When the temperature of a structure varies, there is a tendency to produce changes in the shape of the structure. The resulting actions may be of considerable importance in the analysis of the structures having non-prismatic members. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the modeling, analysis and behavior of the non-prismatic members subjected to temperature changes with the aid of finite element modeling. The fixed-end moments and fixed-end forces of such members due to temperature changes were computed through a comprehensive parametric study. It was demonstrated that the conventional methods using frame elements can lead to significant errors, and the deviations can reach to unacceptable levels for these types of structures. The design formulas and the dimensionless design coefficients were proposed based on a comprehensive parametric study using two-dimensional plane-stress finite element models. The fixed-end actions of the non-prismatic members having parabolic and straight haunches due to temperature changes can be determined using the proposed approach without necessitating a detailed finite element model solution. Additionally, the robust results of the finite element analyses allowed examining the sources and magnitudes of the errors in the conventional analysis.
