From 2016, controls on reduction of NOx and SOx emissions from the vessels that are operated in the emission control area were tightened. The selectivity catalytic reduction system of the denitrification equipment which NOx among the above controlled materials is very effective and used commercially very much. But it has the disadvantage that CSR is activated at high temperatures. Therefore, the SCR and SCR activation instrument that can react even at low temperatures by using micro-nano bubbles so that the above problems can be minimized were developed. And the computational fluid dynamics technique was used by ANSYS-CFX package to prepare the plan that improves the SCR system's efficiency. Simulation for the viscous flow analysis of the SCR system was executed by applying the Navier-Stokes equation to it as a governing equation. For the SCR system's shape, 3D modeling was done by using CATIA V5. SCR jet nozzle's position was checked by changing it to the intervals of 1/3, 1/2, and 2/3 from the inlet of the vent pipe to compare the SCR system's efficiency. And the number of nozzles was compared and analyzed by simulating 4, 6, and 8 holes to check an effect of the number on the SCR system's efficiency. The simulation result has found that the closer nozzles are to the inlet of the vent pipe and the more nozzles are, the more efficiency is improved.

A Sub-kWe small-scale experimental test loop was manufactured to investigate characteristics of the supercritical carbon dioxide power cycle. A high-speed turbo-generator was also designed and manufactured. The designed rotational speed of this turbo-generator was 200,000 rpm. Because of the low expansion ratio through the turbine and low mass flowrate, the rotational speed of the turbo-generator was high. Therefore, it was difficult to select the rotating parts and design the turbine wheel, axial force balance and rotor dynamics in the lab-scale experimental test loop. Using only one channel of the nozzle, the partial admission method was adapted to reduce the rotational speed of the rotor. This was the world's first approach to the supercritical carbon dioxide turbo-generator. A cold-run test using nitrogen gas under an atmospheric condition was conducted to observe the effect of the partial admission nozzle on the rotor dynamics. The vibration level of the rotor was obtained using a gap sensor, and the results showed that the effect of the partial admission nozzle on the rotor dynamics was allowable.

Hydraulic mounts show strong1y frequency-dependent stiffness and damping characteristics in low frequency range, which result from so called inertia track dynamics. A lumped mass has been incorporated in several mechanical models of the literature to take the inertia effect of the fluid in the track into consideration. Although complex s%illness by the mechanical model showed good agreements with the measured values, there exists a critical pitfall. In this paper, the shortcomings of mechanical models with lumped mass for hydraulic founts are clearly identified by illustrating actual measurements of the stiffness parameters for a hydraulic mount. It is conclusively discussed that the inertia effect of the fluid flow through the circular track is significant but latent. As an alternative to the mechanical model, a hydraulic model is claimed to be used for further dynamic analysis of engine/mount system or whole car system.

This paper describes the development of variable stability system (VSS) control laws for the KFA-i to simulate the dynamics of KFA-m aircraft. The KFA-i is a single engine, Class IV aircraft and was selected as an in-flight simulator (IFS) aircraft, whereas the KFA-m is a simulated aircraft that is based on the F-16 aircraft. A 6-DoF math model of KFA-i aircraft was developed, linearized, and separated into longitudinal and lateral motion for VSS control law synthesis. The KFA-i aircraft has five primary control surfaces: two flaperons, two all movable horizontal tails, and one rudder. Flaperons are used for load control, the horizontal tails are used for pitch and roll rate control, and the rudder is used for yaw rate control. The developed VSS control law can simulate four parameters of the KFA-m aircraft simultaneously, such as pitch, roll, yaw rates, and load. The simulation results show that KFA-i follows the responses of KFA-m with high accuracy.

The centrifugal oil purifier is used in ships for purifying the engine lubrication oil. The momentum needed for the rotation of the cylindrical chamber is obtained by jet injections. The dust particles in the oil are separated by the centrifugal forces moving to the inner wall of the rotating cylindrical chamber body. The dust particles are eliminated when the particles are adsorbed onto the surface of the inner wall of the chamber body. The flow characteristics and the physical behaviours of particles in this centrifugal oil purifier have been investigated numerically and the filtration efficiencies have been evaluated. For the calculations, a commercial code has been used and the SST k-${\omega}$ turbulence model has been adopted. The MRF (Multiple Reference Frame) method has been introduced to consider the rotating effect of the flows. Under various variables, such as particle size, particle density and rotating speed, the filtration efficiencies have been evaluated. It has been verified that the filtration efficiency is increased with the increments of the particle size, the particle density and the rotating speed of the cylindrical chamber.

In the electro-hydraulic injector for the common rail Diesel fuel injection system, the injection nozzle is being opened and closed by movement of a injector's needle which is balanced by pressure at the nozzle seat and at the needle control chamber, at the opposite end of the needle. In this study, the piezo actuator was considered as a prime movers in high pressure Diesel injector. Namely a piezo-driven Diesel injector, as a new method driven by piezoelectric energy, has been applied with a purpose to develop the analysis model of the piezo actuator to predict the dynamics characteristics of the hydraulic component(injector) by using the AMESim code. Aimed at simulating the hydraulic behavior of the piezo-driven injector, the circuit model has been developed and verified by comparison with the experimental results. As this research results, we found that the input voltage exerted on piezo stack is the dominant factor which affects on the initial needle behavior of piezo-driven injector than the hydraulic force generated by the constant injection pressure. Also we know the piezo-driven injector has more degrees of freedom in controlling the injection rate with the high pressure than a solenoid-driven injector.

Engine torque is transferred to the transmission where drag torque is minimized improving fuel efficiency. This is particularly true in a wet clutch pack. This study measures slip friction when the wet clutch pack in a DCT (Dual-Clutch Transmission) is disengaged, and the friction pads are slipping. Shudder engagement velocity, and applied forces can be measured under various working conditions through these torque transfer experiments. Test results demonstrate that the design parameters, and engagement conditions of wet clutch packs can be optimized to reduce shudder and frictional vibration during engagement in a dual clutch transmission.
The fuel tank of a ship is filled with heavy fuel oil (HFO) that has a very high viscosity. In order to inject the HFO into the engine easily, heating coils are usually installed inside the fuel tank to heat the HFO and lower its viscosity. Currently, several different types of heating coils are used, e.g., fin-type, bare-type, drum-type, and shell-and-tube-type. It is well known that the shell-and-tube-type heating coil has good performance and high efficiency. In this study, experiments were conducted to determine the heat transfer efficiencies of three different shell-and-tube-type heating coils. Heat transfer efficiency was evaluated by using FLUENT 6.3.26 software. Also, structural safety was assessed by using ANSYS.simulation software.

A Supersonic air intake model was designed for the high performance ramjet and dual-mode scramjet engine to operate at Mach 4 flight condition. The air intake was tested in the blowdown-type wind tunnel of Kyushu University to identify the internal flow characteristics corresponding to the flight parameters such as the back pressure, angle of attack and angle of yaw. Flow visualization was achieved by the Schlieren and oil flow visualization techniques. The intake performance was analyzed quantitatively based on the surface pressure and total Pressure measurements. The experimental results were compared with the computational fluid dynamics results. The present study exhibits the fundamental but rarely found experimental results of the high Mach number supersonic air intake.
