GDI 엔진에 DCT 적용에 따른 배기 배출물 특성에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Dual Clutch Transmissions on the Stability Emissions Characteristic in a Gasoline Direct Injection Engine)

  • This paper described the effect of dual clutch transmissions on the stability emissions characteristic in a GDI engine at vehicle Inspection and Maintenance(I/M) program. In order to investigate the influence of direct injection gasoline engine with DCT, the experimental apparatus consisted of GDI engine with 4 cylinder, dynamometer and exhaust emissions analyzer. Analyzed emission gas include CO, HC and NOx results that DCT vehicle in the case of NOx, HC in automatic transmission vehicles less than 1/2 level was confirmed to be exhausted. However vehicle specific power increases CO also has increased.

  • 내연기관 차량에 전자기식 클러치 워터펌프의 적용은 연비 향상 및 배기가스 저감을 꾀할 수 있다. 이러한 클러치 워터펌프는 엔진 냉각시스템의 유량 단속에 의하여 최적 운전 조건을 가능케 한다. 본 연구에서는 클러치 워터펌프를 이용한 냉각시스템을 제어함으로써 디젤 차량의 연비 및 배기가스 특성을 살펴보았다. 전자기식 클러치 워터펌프에 의한 저온 시동시 냉각수 흐름을 차단하여 아이들 조건에서 예열 시간을 기존 워터펌프 대비 49% 정도 단축시켰고, 주행 중에는 냉각수가 최적 고온상태를 유지하도록 제어하였다. 그리하여 NEDC 모드에서 연소 효율이 개선되어 최대 5% 정도의 연비 향상 효과를 나타내었다. 또한 NOx를 제외한 HC, CO 및 $CO_2$ 배기가스의 농도가 전반적으로 감소하였다.

냉각팬 전자제어를 통한 시내버스의 연비 개선 (The Effect of Cooling Fan Control on Fuel Economy of City Bus)

  • This paper focuses on cooling fan control by using a magnetic clutch type for the improvement of fuel economy on a heavy city bus. In general, Heavy duty vehicles use viscous clutch type cooling fan which has some disadvantages, such as slow response, wide temperature variation of engine coolant water. But a magnetic clutch type cooling fan can be controlled electronically so the engine coolant temperature can be precisely controllable and this effects could be used to reduce fuel consumption. A control system for applying the magnetic clutch type cooling fan was developed in this study and applied to the real field test and chassis dynamometer test. The result showed well controlled coolant temperature and enhancement of fuel economy.

차량 출발 시 클러치에서의 고착-미끄럼 진동현상에 관한 실험적 (An Experimental Study on the Stick-Slip Vibration of the Clutch during Starting of a Vehicle)

  • A friction-type clutch system sometimes generates spick-slip vibration during engagement, which disturbs smooth start of a car and makes a passenger uncomfortable. In this study, the spick-slip vibration in four types of friction couples was investigated at two different engagement conditions respectively of which the amount of slip time and clutch travel was varied. Results are found as follows. First, the vibration increased at the condition of small engine torque and large torque fluctuations due to higher harmonics of engine speed. Second, the friction couple without a pre-damper has advantages of reducing the vibration. This study also suggested an evaluation method of vehicle vibration in the view point of human perception by using the frequency weighting of ISO2631-1.

  • This paper presents temperature control of engine cooling system using a controllable magnetorheological (MR) fan clutch. An appropriate size of MR fan clutch is devised and modeled on the basis of Bingham model. Subsequently, an optimization to determine design parameters such as width of housing is undertaken by choosing the reciprocal of the controllable torque as an objective function. Under consideration of spatial limitation, design parameters are optimally determined using finite element analysis. A sliding mode controller is then designed to control the angular velocity of the MR fan clutch using experimentally determined parameters. The designed controller is experimentally implemented and control performances of the MR fan clutch system are evaluated.

  • The main torsional vibration source of the driveline is the fluctuation of the engine torque. The gear rattle is generated by an impact in the backlash due to this torsional vibration. Optimization of the clutch torsional characteristic is one of the effective methods to reduce the idle gear rattle. Many researches have been reported on this problem but only few of them give sufficient consideration to the detail clutch modeling and clutch design parameters (stiffness, hysteresis torque, preload, first stage length). This paper pays attention to the gear impact mechanism and clutch design parameters to reduce the idle gear rattle with computer simulation.

  • Gear rattle is a source of vibration and noise in automotive gearbox casing and generally occurs at or near system resonant frequencies. The neutral gear rattle of the gearbox. is affected by the stiffness and hysteresis torque in the clutch disk and drag torque determining balancing point of the clutch disk operating range. The experiment is carried out in the pre-damper type clutch and a manual transmission of a automobile equipped for inline four-sylinder four-cycle 1.5L MPI engine and the computer simulation is executed by 5th order Runge-Kutta method. The results of the simulation analysis and experimental studies show the dynamic behavior of clutch and a phenomenon of the neutral gear rattle with respect to drag torque and torsional characteristics of the clutch.

  • The non-periodic angular accelerations of engine are the major cause of gear rattle. This gear rattle is based on the existence of a backlash between the drive gear of input shaft and the free gear of output shaft in the gearbox. Especially, the neutral gear rattle have a very bad effect on the ride quality. Test-rig was constructed in order to evaluate the parameter influence upon the neutral gear rattle. Also, each different 4 type torsional characteristic of clutch was manufactured. Experimental conditions are the use of each different 4 type torsional characteristic of clutch and oil temperature variation in gearbox. In case of the same stiffiness of pre-damper type clutch at idling, the clutch of large hysteresis showed dam- ping effects at the 2nd input gear and the 2nd output gear. Also, the main-damper type clutch was shown to large resonance phenomenon at the 2nd input gear. Accordingly, main-damper type clutch was unapp- roriate at idling.

  • Engine torque is transferred to the transmission where drag torque is minimized improving fuel efficiency. This is particularly true in a wet clutch pack. This study measures slip friction when the wet clutch pack in a DCT (Dual-Clutch Transmission) is disengaged, and the friction pads are slipping. Shudder engagement velocity, and applied forces can be measured under various working conditions through these torque transfer experiments. Test results demonstrate that the design parameters, and engagement conditions of wet clutch packs can be optimized to reduce shudder and frictional vibration during engagement in a dual clutch transmission.
