  • This study introduces an example environment where wireless devices are mobile, devices use dynamic voltage scaling, devices and tasks are heterogeneous, tasks have deadline, and the computation and communication power is dynamically changed for energy saving. For this type of environment, the efficient system-level energy management and resource management for task completion can be an essential part of the operation and design of such systems. Therefore, the resources are assigned to tasks and the tasks may be scheduled to maximize a goal which is to minimize energy usage while trying to complete as many tasks as possible by their deadlines. This paper also introduces mobility of nodes and variable transmission power for communication which complicates the resource management/task scheduling problem further.

  • Mobile Ad hoc Networks(MANET) is consist of node that has mobility, MANET build cluster formation for using energy efficient. In existing LEACH algorithm elect cluster head node in coverage area by distribution function. However, when the cluster head node, that elected by distribution function, is divided coverage area unevenly, the network can't consumption energy efficiency. To solve this problem, we proposed CSWC(Coverage Scheduling Weight-value Control) algorithm. When the coverage area is divided nonchalance, proposed algorithm increased number of hops, that determines coverage area, for balance coverage area. As the result proposed algorithm is set balance coverage area, the network consumption energy efficiency.

  • To address challenges of an unprecedented growth in mobile data traffic, the ultra-dense network deployment is a cost efficient solution to off-load the traffic over other small cells. However, the real traffic is often much lower than the peak-hour traffic and certain small cells are superfluous, which will not only introduce extra energy consumption, but also impose extra interference onto the radio environment. In this paper, an elastic energy efficient cell management scheme is proposed based on flow scheduling among multi-layer ultra-dense cells by a SDN controller. A significant power saving was achieved by a cell-level energy manager. The scheme is elastic for energy saving, adaptive to the dynamic traffic distribution in the office or campus environment. In the end, the performance is evaluated and demonstrated. The results show substantial improvements over the conventional method in terms of the number of active BSs, the handover times, and the switches of BSs.

  • This paper proposes a scheduling algorithm that can reduce the power consumed for execution of application programs and the communication cost incurred due to dependencies among tasks. The proposed scheduling algorithm can increase energy efficiency of the DVS(Dynamic Voltage Scaling) by estimating laxity usage during scheduling, making up for conventional algorithms that apply the DVS after scheduling. Energy efficiency can be increased by applying the proposed algorithm to complex multimedia applications. Experimental results show that energy consumptions for executing HD MPEG4, MotionJPEG codec, MP3, and Wavelet have been reduced by 11.2% on the average, when compared to conventional algorithms.

  • Recently, many manufacturing companies are paying more attention to energy efficiency due to increased energy costs. Energy-efficient scheduling of production systems is a good method for energy efficiency improvement and cost reduction. In this research, we assumed the tire production problem and aim to construct a production scheduling considering specific shape module types, ordered amount for each tire, number of production modules, and the production time for each type. To facilitate effective production scheduling, we considered the types and number of shape modules currently available, and tire types that can be selected to be produced in the next stage were used as additional inputs, In addition to that, additional production was permitted to reduce the halt of production processing. Thus, an average production module utilization rate of about 62 percent was obtained.

  • Various air indexing and data scheduling schemes for wireless broadcast of spatial data have been developed for energy efficient query processing. The existing schemes are not effective when the clients' data access patterns are skewed to some items. It is because the schemes are based on flat broadcast that does not take the popularity of the data items into consideration. In this paper, thus, we propose a data scheduling scheme letting the popular items appear more frequently on the channel, and grid-based distributed index for non-flat broadcast (GDIN) for window query processing. The proposed GDIN allows quick and energy efficient processing of window query, matching the clients' linear channel access pattern and letting the clients access only the queried data items. The simulation results show that the proposed GDIN significantly outperforms the existing schemes in terms of access time, tuning time, and energy efficiency.

  • In a modern smart building, sensors can detect various physical conditions, such as temperature, humidity, sound, motion, and light, which can be used in medical services and security, and for energy savings. This paper presents an efficient elevator scheduling system that utilizes smart sensor technologies with radio-frequency identification, video, and floor sensors to detect the arrival of elevator users in advance. The detected information is then delivered to the elevator scheduling system via building networks. By using this information, the proposed system makes a reservation call for efficient control of the elevator's direction and time. Experiments under a spectrum of traffic conditions show that the proposed system performs better than a legacy system with respect to average wait time, maximum wait time, and energy consumption.

  • Energy efficiency is critical for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) since sensor nodes usually have very limited energy supply from battery. Sleep scheduling and nodes cooperation are two of the most efficient methods to achieve energy conservation in WSNs. In this paper, we propose an adaptive energy optimization approach for target tracking applications, called Energy-Efficient Node Coordination (EENC), which is based on the grid structure. EENC provides an unambiguous calculation and analysis for optimal the nodes cooperation theoretically. In EENC, the sleep schedule of sensor nodes is locally synchronized and globally unsynchronized. Locally in each grid, the sleep schedule of all nodes is synchronized by the grid head, while globally the sleep schedule of each grid is independent and is determined by the proposed scheme. For dynamic sleep scheduling in tracking state we propose a multi-level coordination algorithm to find an optimal nodes cooperation of the network to maximize the energy conservation while preserving the tracking performance. Experimental results show that EENC can achieve energy saving of at least 38.2% compared to state-of-the-art approaches.

  • We investigate multi user joint rate scheduling and power allocation problem for a delay sensitive CDMA systems. First, we characterize the existing two user joint rate scheduling and power allocation. We then extend the problem to the case of the multi user systems. In general, there is no simple optimum solution for the multi user scheduling problem. To that end, we propose a sub optimum solution, termed 'virtual user approach'. We show the performance of the virtual user approach to verify the benefit of complexity.

  • Under future internet environment, wireless sensor networks will be used in a wide range of applications. A major problem for designing sensor protocol is developing the most energy efficient technique to monitor an area of interest for a long time since sensors have some constraints such as small and a limited energy level. In addition, data latency is often a critical issue since sensory data is transmitted via multi hop fashion and need to be delivered timely for taking an appropriate action. Our motivation for designing a data forwarding protocol is to minimize energy consumption while keeping data latency bound in wireless sensor networks. In this paper, we propose a data forwarding protocol that consists of wakeup scheduling and MAC protocols, the latter of which is designed to achieve load balancing. Simulation results show that the proposed framework provides more energy-efficient delivery than other protocol.
