A Study on the Performance Characteristics of an Energy Saving Unit in a Hydraulic Elevator (유압식 엘리베이터 에너지 저감장치의 성능특성에 관한 연구)

  • In a traditional hydraulic elevator, elevator car is descended by down control valve, and the oil hydraulic energy must be lost during the descending stroke. In this paper, the performance characteristics of the hybrid type energy saving unit, is used to save the hydraulic energy which is lost during the descending stroke, for a hydraulic elevator are studied. The energy can be reused as the auxiliary power. The results show that the performance characteristics, such as the pressure, flow rate, output current and voltage, efficiency, and the energy recovery rate of the unit are stable and good as the energy recovery rate is 54%, and the energy saving unit is useful to reuse the saved energy during the descending stroke of elevator car. Also, it was confirmed that the energy saving unit can be deployed on a commercial scale.

  • In a traditional hydraulic elevator, elevator car is descended by down control valve, and the oil hydraulic energy must be lost during the descending stroke. In this paper, hybrid type energy saving unit for a hydraulic elevator is researched to save the hydraulic energy which is lost during the descending stroke. The energy is stored as converted electrical energy, and the saved energy is reused as the auxiliary power for the ascending stroke of elevator car or the main power of other parts. The results show that the output characteristics are stable and good and the research is successful and useful to reuse the saved energy during the descending stroke of elevator car.

  • In conventional air-handling units, when the circulated air from the air-conditioned space pass through the cooling coil, the air is over-cooled to eliminate the moisture as well as to decrease the temperature. The purpose of this study is to estimate the thermal performance and energy saving of the cooling/reheating system using heat exchanger which can save both cooling energy and reheating energy by exchanging heat between the cooled air and reheated air. The energy balance equations to estimate the state of the air for each components were provided and the heat transfer rates and the energy saving rates for the system were calculated from the equations. The results showed that the energy saving was up to 40% under present conditions, and saving rates were significantly affected by the air velocity, inlet conditions and the effectiveness of heat exchanger.

  • The fuel charge is getting higher in navigation cost. Therefore, shipowners try to find the method for reducing oil consumption. ESS(Energy Saving System) is one of he method. ESS is the system consisted with two inverters, ESS control unit and monitoring system. Two inverters control two main sea water cooling pumps. In the ESS control Unit, the control algorithm finds optimized point to decrease a power consumption of main sea water cooling pumps. Monitoring system observes ESS not to work improperly. ESS is experimented in the laboratory with real condition and analyzed in every view. After experiment, the result of the experiment shows that the control algorithm works correctly and safely. ESS has a plan to be operated in the ship soon. In that case, additional devices are needed to connect ESS with cooling system of the vessel. So the development of addition device is needed and being studied.

  • Automatic control makes the air-handling unit go into operation and determines the functions of high-efficient and energy-saving machines. Yamatake, an automatic control system manufacturer, have expanded fault detection and diagnosis, and data volumes so as to achieve higher technology in control by developing a sensor which makes field data visible, an actuator and Intelligent Conponent. This study, thus, focuses on applications for saving energy with Intelligent Conponent and goes in for easing global warming by creating future field data-based applications.

Suggestion of the Worth Evaluation of Cool Air and the Allocation Methodology of Cooling Cost (냉기의 가치평가 및 냉방비 배분방법론 제안)

  • Our government will make a plan regulating the cooling limit temperature of the summer season to 26 degree and the heating limit temperature of the winter season to 20 degree for energy saving. Where, the key point of this politic pursuit can be the charge system on heating and cooling cost. We have suggested new cost allocation methodology as a worth evaluation method in the precedent study, and preformed the worth evaluation and cost allocation on four kind of warm air produced from a heating system as an example. In this study, we applied the suggested method to four kind of cool air, and preformed the worth evaluation and cost allocation on each cool air. As a result, similarly to the precedent study, the more energy a customer saved, the more cooling unit cost decreased, and the more energy a customer consumed, the more cooling unit cost increased. From this analysis, we hope that the suggested methodology can offer a theoretical basis to the energy charge policy of government, and induce the spontaneous energy saving of consumers.

  • The issue of hotel energy use is growing more significant as the hotel industry expands. It is important to take into account the electrical installation and space-specific features in a room unit in order to comprehend the energy consumption of a hotel guestroom. In light of this, this study aimed to analyze standby power for enhancing the energy efficiency of a hotel guestroom during check-out status. This study was conducted in three steps: (i) data collection; (ii) analysis of energy consumption patterns; and (iii) analysis of energy efficiency improvement plan. The main findings of this study can be summarized as follows. First, 32.24% of energy was used in fan coil unit) during check-out status. Second, a hotel guestroom had a 4.30% energy saving potential, based on energy consumption patterns during check-out status. This study can contribute to support hotel management to operate guestrooms differently by helping them identify patterns in energy use and realize potential savings.

  • Energy consumption unit in a building is classified according to uses of electricity, gas, and oil, and it has been studied steadily as a material for establishing policy standards for energy saving in buildings. Meanwhile, consumption unit in apartment house can be calculated differently according to its survey method and area standard. Therefore, with the necessity of reestablishing energy consumption unit, this study has researched thermal energy consumption, Supply dwelling area Exclusive dwelling area, completion year and housing type of 23,791 households of 31 complex in Daejeon. As a result, (1) there was about 20% difference between supply and exclusive dwelling areas. (2) On the basis of exclusive dwelling area, thermal energy consumption unit was calculated as $104.9kWh/m^2{\cdot}a$ in 2010, $104.6kWh/m^2{\cdot}a$ in 2011, and $107.7kWh/m^2{\cdot}a$ in 2012.
