  • Distributed generation(DG) of combined cooling, heat, and power(CCHP)has been gaining momentum in recent year as efficient, secure alternative for meeting increasing energy demands. This paper presents the energy performance of microturbine CCHP system equipped with an absorption chiller by modelling it in hospital building. The orders of study were as following. 1)The list and schedule of energy consumption equipment in hospital were examined such as heating and cooling machine, light etc. 2) Annual report of energy usage and monitoring data were examined as heating, cooling, DHW, lighting, etc. 3) The weather data in 2007 was used for simulation and was arranged by meteorological office data in Daejeon. 4) Reference simulation model was built by comparison of real energy consumption and simulation result by TRNSYS and ESP-r. The energy consumption pattern of building were analyzed by simulation model and energy reduction rate were calculated over the cogeneration. As a result of this study, power generation efficiency of turbine was about 30[%] after installing micro gas turbine and lighting energy as well as total electricity consumption can be reduced by 40[%]. If electricity energy and waste heat in turbine are used, 56[%] of heating energy and 67[%] of cooling energy can be reduced respectively, and total system efficiency can be increased up to 70[%].

  • In order to comply with the global energy crisis and environment problem, it is necessary to research and develop the energy utilization technology with the reduction of the primary energy usage. Although the increasing rate of energy consumption started to attenuate, the entire consumption of energy as well as $CO_2$ emission rate tends to increase steadily along with an economic growth in Korea. The energy demand in Korea increases by annual 3.7% during the period from 2000 to 2006. And it is expected that we should take a charge of the greenhouse gas reduction obligation by the Climatic Change Convention(Kyoto Protocol) during the 2nd pledge period($2013{\sim}2017$). According to the IEA report in 2005, the emission amount of carbon dioxide is the 10th place in the world, and the increasing rate is 4.7% annually. Considering the economic scale of Korea, the degradation of energy usage is inevitable when the greenhouse gas reduction obligation come into effect. Therefore, effective energy usage is a very important issue to minimize baneful influence on industrial and economic activities.

  • In general, the rail transportation recognized as a better transportation mode than road transportation in terms of the environment. However, due to a lack of quantitative analysis based on Korean data, foreign cases for environmental advantages of the railway have often been cited in Korea. To address this issue, we estimated the energy consumption of passenger and freight transportation using certified activity data from Korea Railroad Statistics and the Electrical Work Report for railway and the Energy Consumption Survey for road. We estimated the Green House Gas emission of passenger and freight transportation on a Tier 1 level by applying the IPCC 2006 Guideline. Finally, we calculated the energy consumption unit and GHG emission unit to determine the environmental impact of rail and road transportation. We also compared the analyzed results of high-speed rail and auto as typical means of rail and road transportation.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to reduce the amount of current through the Timing Control of the duty cycle and the Report Attribute Control at the MAC Layer in consideration of the Sleep Mode under the IoT wireless environment. The use of a duty cycle is an effective way to reduce energy consumption on wireless sensor networks where the node is placed in sleep mode periodically. In particular, we studied how to control power efficiency through duty rate in Short Transition Time and ACK Time processing while satisfying radio channel limitation criterion. When comparing before and after the improvement considering the delay time constraint, we validated the correlation of the electrical current reduction.

  • The demand for energy in Thailand has been continually increasing as the economic and social country grows. Approximately 60% of Thailand's primary energy is imported, mostly petroleum products. In 2008 Thailand's total energy consumption was 80,971 ktoe and the net price of energy imported was up to 1,161 billion Baht which is equivalent to 12.8% of GDP at the current price. The energy consumption or energy demand has been growing at an annual compounded growth rate of 6.42% and the peak electric power demand and electricity consumption was recorded at 22,568 MW and 148,264 GWh and grew at a rate of 7.0% and 7.5% per annum during the period from 1989 to 2008. The gross agriculture production in 2008 was recorded at 135.4 Mt which represents agriculture residue for energy at 65.73 Mt, which is equivalent to energy potential of about 561.64 PJ or 13,292 ktoe an increase in average of 5.59% and 5.44% per year respectively. The agricultural residues can converted to 15,600 GWh/year or 1,780 MW of power capacity. So, if government sector plan to install small biomass gasification for electricity generation 200 kW for Community. The residue agricultural is available for 8,900 plants nationwide. The small biomass power generation for electricity generation not only to reduce the energy imports, it also makes the job and income for people in rural areas as well. This paper's aim is to report the energy situation in Thailand and has studied 5 main agricultural products with high residue energy potential namely sugarcane, paddy, oil palm, cassava, and maize appropriate for small electricity production. These agricultural products can be found planted in many rural areas throughout Thailand. Finally, discuss the situation, methods and policies which the government uses to promote small private power producers supplying electricity into the grid.

  • For the purpose of estimating the operating cost for feed production, energy consumption, labor requirement, maintenance cost, and supplies and miscellaneous costs are analyzed and developed as mathematical models. Mathematical model for energy usage Consists of electrical energy, boiler fuel energy and vehicle fuel energy. The mathematil model for electrical energy usage for the swine and poultry feed mill and the complete pelleted feed mill are developed, based on the general model mill and the computer program for its design developed in Kansas State University (Park, 1982). Also, the boiler fuel energy consumption model and the vehicle fuel energy consumption model are developed by analyzing the boiler system and the vehicle operation in the warehouse. In order to develop a mathematical model for labor requirement, the data that Vosloh (1968, 1976) constructed for labor requirement in his model mill are used by assuming that his model mill is similar to this model, in terms of labor assignment standards. Maintenance and repair costs are obtained by assuming to be 5.5% of the total capital investment cost. Also, supplies and miscellaneous costs are estimated by using Vosloh's report and it is approximately 0.87 dollars per ton based on daily production.

  • According to the recent report, the lighting energy consumption of commercial buildings reaches to $30%\sim40%$ of the total energy consumption. It is more than that of cooling & heating energy consumption and it is the major target of energy-saving policy. It is obvious that they are interested in natural lighting device such as Light-shelf for the purpose of raising the lighting energy-saving efficiency. In most of highly developed countries, a thorough study on Light-shelf makes it possible to propose a practical plan while at home there leaves much to be desired to study a guiding principle of optimum plan in spite of its efficiency based on experiments using scale4 model and analysis of simulation. Aiming at making an optimum plan of Light-shelf suitable for the domestic situation, this study is worked by experiments using light-shelf and analysis of variables using illumination program. The experiments is to analyse the efficiency of Light-shelf on condition of the sky and the analysis is to make the simulation using illumination program. This study is composed of 1) the analysis of light with some variables such as presence of light-shelf and degree of angle using 1/2 scaled model 2) making the simulation using Lightscape, illumination program, In brief, concerning presence of light-shelf, it causes little difference in its efficiency in the overcast sky, whereas it decreases an illuminance of window side and provides inner side with the light, which decreases the ratio of the maximum to the minimum inner illuminance and makes the inner of illuminance to range evenly in the clear sky. On degree of angle, as the daylight increases in proportion of degree of angle, the ratio of the maximum to the minimum inner illuminance decreases, which makes it possible to increase the proportion of inner daylight.

  • This paper presents the initial findings of a ground-breaking two-year CTBUH-funded research project investigating the real environmental and social sustainability of people's lifestyles in a number of high-rise residential towers in downtown Chicago, and a comparable number of low rise homes in suburban Oak Park, Chicago - based on actual energy bills and other real data. The study is ground-breaking because, to date, similar studies have been mostly based on very large data sets of generalized data regarding whole-city energy consumption, or large-scale transport patterns, which often misses important nuances. This study has thus prioritized quality of real data (based on around 250 households in both high rise and low rise case studies), over quantity. In both urban and suburban cases, the following factors have been assessed: (i) home operational energy use, (ii) embodied energy of the dwelling, (iii) home water consumption, (iv) mobility and transport movements, (v) urban/suburban Infrastructure, and (vi) quality of life. The full results of this seminal study will be published in the form of a CTBUH Research Report publication in 2017. Presented below is an overview of the initial (and, currently, unverified) findings of the research, together with the limitations of the study that should be taken into account, as well as future plans for developing this important pilot study.

  • Cognitive radio technology is still the key technology of future mobile communication systems. Previous studies have focused on improving spectrum utilization and less energy consumption. In this paper, we propose an Overhead Reduced Scheme (ORS) for green cooperative spectrum sensing. Compared to traditional cooperative sensing scheme, ORS scheme divides the sensing time into three time slots and selects the best multi-mode user to report decisions. In consideration of reporting channel deviation, we derive closed-form expressions for detection probability and false alarm probability of ORS scheme based on Rayleigh fading channel. Simulation results show that ORS scheme can improve the perception accuracy while reducing the perceived delay and energy consumption in the process of perception, so as to realize the green communication.

  • In wireless sensor networks application, sensor nodes are randomly deployed in wide and opened environment typically. Since sensor networks have these features, it is vulnerable to physical attacks in which an adversary can capture deployed nodes and use them to inject a fabricated report into the network. This threats of network security deplete the limited energy resource of the entire network using injected fabricated reports. A dynamic en-route filtering scheme is proposed to detect and drop the injected fabricated report. In this scheme, node executes the key redistribution to increases the detection power. It is very important to decide the authentication key redistribution because a frequent key redistribution can cause the much energy consumption of nodes. In this paper, we propose a key redistribution determining method to enhance the energy efficiency and maintain the detection power of network. Each node decides the authentication key redistribution using a fuzzy system in a definite period. The proposed method can provide early detection of fabricated reports, which results in energy-efficiency against the massive fabricated report injection attacks.
