  • A shielding analysis was performed for the end shield of CANDU 6 reactor. The one-dimensional discrete ordinate code ANISN with a 38-group neutron-gamma library, extracted from DLC-37D library, was used to estimate the dose rate for the natural uranium CANDU reactor. For comparison MCNP-4B calculation was performed for the same system using continuous, discrete and multi-group libraries. The comparison has shown that the total dose rate of the ANISN calculation agrees well with that of the MCNP calculation. However, the individual dose rate (neutron and gamma) has shown opposite trends between AMISN and MCNP estimates, which may require a consistent library generation for both codes.

  • Recently the architectural paradigm have been changing into eco-friendly architecture as an sustainable architecture. This social background encourages the development of various methods of building applicable for eco-friendly buildings in architectural design. Among them, passive architecture is an design approach for eco-friendly design that contrasts with technology-based methods through MEP for renewable energy. This study researches the Passive Architectural Design methodology with two points of view; Passive Architectural Design Techniques as a guideline, which defines the elements to consider for passive architecture, and the project of Sejong Municipal Public Library as a case, which is to analysis the architectural design process. The purpose of this study is to propose an eco-friendly public building based on the methodology which is suitable for passive architectural design. Finally, this study suggests that the eco-friendly public building design for passive architecture should consider from the early step of design process, such as concept and building form etc. What is important for the passive architecture is not how much building can produce the natural energy but how less building consumes it to maintain.

  • BIM library, as a systematic collection of BIM objects where the building information is stored, is a vital factor to construct the BIM based work environment. However, construction business is faced the problems relating BIM library such as the absence of the standard for establishing BIM library, the discontinuity of BIM library's compatibility and the lack of practice applicable BIM library. These problems cause the decreasing work efficiency and the recreating BIM model, by delivering inefficient information required in each stage and application field. The purpose of this study is to suggest the integrated management system for property information of BIM library in order to minimize the reworking and to manage information of each stage and application field when exchanging and sharing information. To achieve this, the BIM information classification, the criteria of property requirements for information exchange in BIM application field and the BIM library management system are developed. This study could contributes to ensuring the reliability and accuracy of results of BIM based analysis and to enhancing the speed of business process with sharing and exchanging building information utilizing a single BIM model.

  • In this paper, we present algorithm-level techniques for energy-efficient design at the algorithm level using FPGAs. We then use these techniques to create energy-efficient designs for two signal processing kernel applications: fast Fourier transform(FFT) and matrix multiplication. We evaluate the performance, in terms of both latency and energy efficiency, of FPGAs in performing these tasks. Using a Xilinx Virtex-II as the target FPGA, we compare the performance of our designs to those from the Xilinx library as well as to conventional algorithms run on the PowerPC core embedded in the Virtex-II Pro and the Texas Instruments TMS320C6415. Our evaluations are done both through estimation based on energy and latency equations on high-level and through low-level simulation. For FFT, our designs dissipated an average of $50\%$ less energy than the design from the Xilinx library and $56\%$ less than the DSP. Our designs showed an EAT factor of 10 times improvement over the embedded processor. These results provide a concrete evidence to substantiate the idea that FPGAs can outperform DSPs and embedded processors in signal processing. Further, they show that PFGAs can achieve this performance while still dissipating less energy than the other two types of devices.

  • Recently, various kinds of daylight system are recognized as an important and useful strategy in energy-efficient building designs. However, a large amount of direct sunlight can make many problems. Therefore, it is necessary to control daylighting through louver systems for high quality visual environment. The purpose of this study is to analyze daylighting performance in the reading room of a library according to different azimuths and louver systems. The results evaluated daylight performance based on the RADIANCE lighting software.

  • This paper is devoted to evaluating the accuracy of general 2D geometric transport code, HELIOS, and determining the order of merit in modeling for some important HELIOS input parameters. Benchmark test for 12 critical lattices show that HELIOS predicts criticality accurately within experimental uncertainties, showing only 250 pcm overestimation with a standard deviation of 450 pcm. The sensitivity test suggest that current coupling order, neutron group library, geometrical modeling, and resonance options must be considered carefully to obtain accurate results. Especially, current coupling order and sub-rings in fuel regions turn out to be most critical in HELIOS modeling. For MOX loaded cores, it is additionally necessary to pay attention to the resonance option and the validity of small group neutron library.

  • To validate the new Evaluated Nuclear Data File $(ENDF)/B-VIII.0{\beta}4$ library, 31 different critical cores were selected and used for a benchmark test of the important parameter keff. The four utilized libraries are processed using Nuclear Data Processing Code (NJOY2016). The results obtained with the $ENDF/B-VIII.0{\beta}4$ library were compared against those calculated with ENDF/B-VI.8, ENDF/B-VII.0, and ENDF/B-VII.1 libraries using the Monte Carlo N-Particle (MCNP(X)) code. All the MCNP(X) calculations of keff values with these four libraries were compared with the experimentally measured results, which are available in the International Critically Safety Benchmark Evaluation Project. The obtained results are discussed and analyzed in this paper.

  • This study was conducted to develop and propose the evaluation indicators to evaluate the eco-friendliness of the library, when certified as the eco-friendly Green Libraries. To do this, we extracted the green library components through an analysis of the green library literatures and case studies, and surveyed the perceptions of the library staffs about the assessment factors. Finally, we developed the green library evaluation index with 11 evaluation areas, 31 evaluation items, and 135 evaluation indicators. The 11 evaluation areas are as follows; Land use and transportation, energy and environmental protection, materials and resources, water cycle management, maintenance management, ecological environment, the indoor environment, the library resources, the eco-education programs and campaigns, the staff and operations, and the computerization.
