배터리 충전상태가 경유자동차 에너지소비효율에 미치는 영향 연구 (A Study about Impact of Battery SOC on Fuel Economy of Conventional Diesel Vehicle)

  • Manufacturers have been applying several technologies that can improve the fuel economy of their cars. The regulated voltage control(RVC) system, is one of those technologies being used in passenger cars. In RVC, the voltage of an alternator is controlled depending on the electrical load demand or battery SOC, although each manufacturer differs from another in terms of detail. RVC can reduce the load of an alternator by consuming the stored energy of a battery and simultaneously generate energy. In this paper, a diesel passenger car equipped with an RVC system was tested under FTP-75 and HWFET modes to evaluate fuel economy as their initial battery SOC(100, 90, 80 and 60 %). The test results showed that the initial SOC affects fuel economy only under the FTP-75 mode. FTP-75 fuel economy of the 60% SOC was 13.2 % lower than the 100 % SOC. Also, the simultaneous consumption of the two energy sources did not appear in 60 % SOC.

  • New technologies and techniques to extract natural gas and gas liquids, as well as petroleum, from shale rock have greatly altered expectations for North America's capacity to produce energy products. As a result of innovations such as hydraulic fracturing, some government, industry, and academic observers have predicted that the United States will soon become energy self-sufficient and possibly become a net exporter of natural gas and petroleum. This paper will cover literature review and measure the potential impacts on economic growth and development. Fracking, renewable energy are just a few of the things that have reshaped the energy picture over the past 20 years, how much it will change in the next 20 years and the impacts on the economy will be discussed.

신형식 자동차 적용에 따른 연비 보정식 검토에 관한 연구 (Study on new type vehicle fuel economy correction formula review according to the applicable)

  • 자동차 표시연비는 국가적으로 에너지관리 지표로서 활용되며, 자동차 제작사의 기술개발을 유도하고, 소비자 차량구매 시 정보제공의 역할을 담당하고 있다. 하지만 정부의 표시연비가 체감연비와 상이하다는 소비자 불만이 지속되어 정부는 보다 정확한 표시연비 측정을 위해 미국의 5-cycle 시험방법을 국내 차량 기준에 맞게 재설정하여 도입하였다. 본래는 다양한 환경조건 및 주행패턴이 반영된 5개의 시험모드를 모두 주행함으로써 측정된 결과 값을 표시연비로 계산하는 방법이지만 소요되는 자원의 급격한 증가에 따른 충격을 완화하기 위하여 2개의 시험모드(도심(FTP-75 mode), 고속도로(HWFET mode))의 결과 값을 5-cycle 시험법으로 계산된 연비 값과 동등한 수준으로 산출하는 5-cycle 보정식을 사용하고 있다. 이 보정식은 2011년에 30대 차량의 5-cycle 시험방법으로 산출되었으나 최근 자동차 기술의 급속한 발전으로 인한 신형식 자동차에 대한 기존 5-cycle 보정식에 대한 검토가 필요할 것으로 판단되었다. 본 연구에서는 최근 기술이 적용된 14대의 신형식 자동차를 대상으로 기존과 동일한 시험 방법을 통해 시험모드별 연비 특성을 확인하고, 기존에 개발된 보정식과 차이를 분석한 결과 기존 시험 차량 결과와 큰 차이를 보이지 않았으며 보정식 또한 최대 1.5% 이내의 오차로써 기존 연비 보정식은 현재의 자동차 기술발전에 따른 개선도에 크게 영향을 받고 있지 않음을 알 수 있었다.

  • About 70% of energy input to internal combustion engine is rejected to atmosphere by heat. By utilizing this waste heat, a plenty of energy can be conserved in nationwide. One of possible ways is the thermoelectric generation to utilize engine's waste heat to provide auxiliary electric power. Under th is concept, we have been developing the thermoelectric generation system to replace the alternator by converting the waste heat in the engine's exhaust directly to electricity This system may reduce the shaft horse power of the engine, then improves the vehicle fuel economy and the exhaust emissions. In the present study, the characteristics of the electric energy and exhaust heal energy in city and highway mode driving conditions are analysed by using a gasoline passenger car. These results would be used to determine the optimum design parameters of the thermoelectric generation system.

An Overview of the Development of Botswana's Renewable Energy Policy Framework

  • Botswana is a middle-income developing country in Southern Africa with an economy mainly reliant on mineral resources, particularly diamonds. Other sectors of the economy like energy are trailing behind in this country's development. For a long time, Botswana has been relying on imported energy from her neighboring countries. Due to this great dependence, the country has had little control over sufficiency of energy supply, especially during times of shortages in the neighboring countries. As a result, Botswana came up with a number of initiatives over the years to ensure security of supply and self-sufficiency in the energy sector. However, even with the efforts made, currently Botswana is still not self-sufficient and is facing challenges of energy shortages mainly in the power sector. This paper therefore, seeks to review the various policy instruments that have been adopted in Botswana from 1996 to date, identify challenges that come with them and make recommendations on the identified challenges.

  • Population growth and increasing consumption of resources in the process of the industrial development has caused environmental pollution, climate change, and resource exhaustion. Therefore 'sustainable development' has become the important issue for the future. The sustainable development aims at effective resource use, less environmental impacts, and higher social security. Generally the rural area including agricultural fields and forest has various and plentiful natural resources which could make future development sustainable. To develop potential rural resources, the values for energy, environment and economy should be assessed considering the life-cycle of resources. The purposes of this study are to suggest the E3 (Energy, Environment, and Economy) assessment model for rural biomass considering life-cycle of resource and to apply the model to rice, the major agricultural product. As the results of this study, it turned out through E3 assessment that economic gain of rice cultivation is 578,374 won/10a, carbon absorption is $1,530kgCO_2/10a$, carbon emission is $926.65kgCO_2/10a$, and bio-energy potential of by-product is 394,028 kcal/10a. When E3 assessment was applied to by province, the results varied by regions because of the amount of input during cultivation. These results would be useful to realize the rural biomass and design regional resources plan in integrated E3 perspective.

Evaluation of Fuel Economy for a Parallel Hybrid Electric Vehicle

  • In this work, the fuel economy of a parallel hybrid electric vehicle is investigated. A vehicle control algorithm which yields operating points where operational cost of HEV is minimal is suggested. The operational cost of HEV is decided considering both the cost of fossil fuel consumed by an engine and the cost of electricity consumed by an electric motor. A procedure for obtaining the operating points of minimal fuel consumption is introduced. Simulations are carried out for 3 variations of HEV and the results are compared to the fuel economy of a conventional vehicle in order to investigate the effect of hybridization. Simulation results show that HEV with the vehicle control algorithm suggested in this work has a fuel economy 45% better than the conventional vehicle if braking energy is recuperated fully by regeneration and idling of the engine is eliminated. The vehicle modification is also investigated to obtain the target fuel economy set in PNGV program.

외부충전 방식 하이브리드 전기자동차의 연비 시뮬레이션 (Simulation Study on the Fuel Economy of Plug-in Type Hybrid Electric Vehicle)

  • In this paper, the fuel economy of plug-in type hybrid electric vehicle is investigated through simulation. For the simulation study, 2 shaft type parallel hybrid powertrain is chosen and its operation modes are described. The operation algorithm which yields operation points of minimal fuel cost is suggested. Dynamic model fur operation of HEV and simulation procedure is described. Simulation results of fuel economy is compared to non plug-in type HEV as well as conventional vehicle. With total driving distance of 37km and full usage of 2kwh of electric energy stored in battery pack, plug-in type HEV shows 28-30% improved fuel economy compared to non plug-in type HEV and 86-93% improved fuel economy compared to conventional vehicle.

자동차 전용도로에서 경사가 연비에 미치는 영향 (Effect on the Fuel Economy by Gradient in Automobile Driveway)

  • 최근의 차량 연비는 고가의 연료 가격과 환경 규제 등으로 인하여 중요한 문제로 대두되었다. 전기, 전자, 기계 등의 기술 발달에 힘입어 연비는 많이 개선되었으나 현재도 연비 측정은 주어진 모드(LA-4, FTP-75 등)에서 컴퓨터 모의시험 및 다이나모에서 수행한다. 이러한 연비는 실제 도로 주행 연비와 차이가 발생한다. 그 주요 원인중의 하나는 도로의 경사를 고려하지 않았기 때문이다. 본 논문에서는 경사가 포함된 고속도로에서 경사가 연비에 미치는 영향을 평가하기 위하여 경사가 포함된 영동고속도로를 주행하여 연료 소모량을 측정하고 연비를 계산한다. 또한 같은 도로를 경사가 없다고 가정하여 주행한 연비와 비교 분석한다. 이때 두 경우의 연료 소모량 차이에 의해 발생된 총 발생 에너지를 계산하고, 모의실험에서 타이어 구동력으로 부터 발생한 엔진 토크와 파워 데이터로부터 구동력에 소모된 에너지를 계산한다. 이제 도로의 경사 때문에 소모된 연료에 의해 발생된 총 발생에너지와 구동력에 사용된 에너지와의 관계를 검증한다. 또한 결론에서는 경사를 갖는 자동차 전용도로에서 경사에도 불구하고 연비를 향상할 수 있는 방안을 제시한다.
