  • The energy efficiency of existing lighting appliances has continuously been improving due to the government aid such as rebate programs and information of energy saving, etc. However, the usage pattern of lighting appliance at this moment has more been increasing higher illumination and indirect lighting method according that the taste of customers has changed variously. This paper estimates the economic evaluation and simulation for FPL45[W] lamp & ballast instead of FPL55 lamp & ballast in order to study the governmental support to demand side management.

  • The electricity demand in Korea has rapidly increased along with a steady economic growth since 1970s. Therefore Korea has positively propelled not only SSM(Supply-Side Management) but also DSM(Demand-Side Management) activities to reduce investment cost of generating units and to save supply costs of electricity through the enhancement of whole national energy utilization efficiency. However study for rebate, which have influence on success or failure on DSM program, is not sufficient. This paper executed to modeling mathematically an amount of potential participants considering rebates, which have influence on penetration amounts for DSM program using by 'A Survey of End-User for Energy Efficiency Demand Side Management Programs'.

  • We suggest that the core factor which can be established successfully pushing ahead with domestic load management program is finding and keeping management of controllable load resources. We know that load management is mostly the maximum demand power management and participation of DLC program. This paper suggests the way coping with load management suggesting model which air conditioning and heating load facilities are applied to DU program.

  • This paper describes the portal system architecture of large consumers for ESP(Energy Service Provider) to provide customers with various value added services such as monitoring and controlling a wide variety of electric devices in consumer's premises for optimal energy management from both consumer side and ESP side, and the prototype implementation of 2 kinds of value added services. The architecture is composed of the device portal which gathers the information from electric devices and controls them and the consumer portal which can make ESP operate the optimal energy management with two-way communications. The demand side management and energy management functions was chosen and implemented for the prototype system as value added services. The prototype was designed to create, manage, and trace the events about services between ESP and customers.

  • DSM(Demand Side Management) is reducing the load of energy supply utility through energy conservation and energy load distribution. This kind of program is necessary especially to our country which import above 97% of energy source. But the effectiveness of this kind program is not verified well even though our country is executing the various DSM programs. This study suggests M&V(Monitoring & Verification) guideline for DSM programs which are executing in Korea and shows the results which applied to verification of DSM programs.

  • Energy is a vital resource for the economic growth and the social development for any country. As the industry becomes more sophisticated and the economy more grows, the electricity demand is increasing. So forecasting electricity demand is an important for electricity suppliers. Forecasting electricity demand makes it possible to distribute electricity demand. As the market for Negawatt market began to grow in Korea from 2014, the prediction of electricity consumption demand becomes more important. Moreover, power consumption forecasting provides a way for demand management to be directly or indirectly participated by consumers in the electricity market. We use Genetic Algorithms to predict the energy demand of the fishing industry in Jeju Island by using GDP, per capita gross national income, value add, and domestic electricity consumption from 1999 to 2011. Genetic Algorithm is useful for finding optimal solutions in various fields. In this paper, genetic algorithm finds optimal parameters. The objective is to find the optimal value of the coefficients used to predict the electricity demand and to minimize the error rate between the predicted value and the actual power consumption values.

  • The prospects for growth of the nuclear power industry in Korea have improved remarkably as the demand for energy increases in stride with economic development. Meanwhile, as nuclear energy development is enhanced, nuclear technology has also improved evolutionarily and innovatively in the areas of reactor design and safety measures. As nuclear technology development in Korea advances, more human resources are required. Accordingly, the need for a well-managed program of human resource development (HRD) aimed at assuring needed capacities, skills, and knowledge and maintaining valuable human resources through education and training in various nuclear-related fields has been recognized. A well-defined and object-oriented human resource development and management (HRD&M) is to be developed in order to balance between the dynamics of supply and demand of the workforce in the nuclear industry. The HRD&M schemes include a broad base of disciplines, education, sciences, and technologies within a framework of national sustainable development goals, which are generally considered to include economics, environment, and social concerns. In this study, the projection methodology considering a variety of economic, social, and environmental factors was developed. Using the developed methodology, medium- and long-term nuclear human resources projections up to 2030 were conducted in compliance with the national nuclear technology development programmes and plans.

  • The use of renewable energy sources and energy storage systems is increasing due to new policies in the energy industries. However, the increase in distributed generation hinders the reliability of power systems. In order to stabilize power systems, a virtual power plant has been proposed as a novel power grid management system. The virtual power plant plays includes different distributed energy resources and energy storage systems. We define a core virtual power plant technology related to demand response and ancillary service for the cases of Korea, America, and Europe. We also suggest applications of the proposed virtual power plant to the vehicle-to-grid market for restructuring national power industries in Korea.

  • This study purposed to construct supply and demand potential map of forest bioenergy with a GIS-based decision support system. The target areas of this study were a part of the forests in Yongdong region, Gangwondo, and most types of forests were pinus densiflora, pinus koreaiansis, and Oak. Data about forest type, age classes, the number of households, regional silviculture planning was stored in GIS to define the potential areas for supplying potential bioenergy from the forests, and to assess biomass available for a household. Theoretical potential biomass energy based on silviculture plan was estimated in average 3,144 Tcal, and this quantity will be enough to supply the quantity of demand of households in that area. However, if it assumed that average collecting rates of Kangwon province were 10%, the available quantity of biomass will be between 6% and 15% of demand. If the collecting rates were 60%, the supply of biomass could exceed the quantity of demand in certain cities.

  • Domestic buildings account for 25% of national greenhouse gas emissions and 20% of energy consumption, so energy efficiency improvement of buildings is recognized as the main target of national energy demand management. To improve the energy efficiency of the building, policies are implemented by preparing "zero-energy building national roadmaps" and enhancing the efficiency of national energy demand management through early activation as a result of expansion of the mandatory zero-energy building. Also, there is a growing need to verify the performance of energy savings after the construction is completed. Therefore, methods for evaluating energy performance of buildings should be suggested. This paper aims to develop and present methods for verifying energy performance of Zero Energy School, which can be applied internationally, by visiting domestic schools on-site at the same time as international standards and guidance analysis.
