Recently, the use of renewable energy has been increased due to growing concern on the energy-saving at buildings and the reduction of $CO_2$ emission. In the field of architecture, to reduce the energy consumption of heating, cooling and hot water supply, heat pump systems with renewable energy has been developed and used in various applications. However, there have been many of researches on the large-scale commercial heat pump systems, but the research and the field application of a compact heat pump system is rare. Therefore, in order to develop the compact heat pump for the small-scale residential building, this study conducted the performance test and feasibility study for a hybrid heat pump using the heat source of air, solar and ground. In the results of experiments through a trial product, the average COP of cooling mode with ground heat source was 4.75, and it of heating mode was 4.03. Furthermore, the average COP of cooling mode with air heat source was 2.60, and it of heating mode was 2.92. Finally, payback period of the system was calculated as 9.2 years.
Ground-source heat pump (GSHP) systems have become an efficient alternative to conventional cooling and heating methods due to their higher energy efficiency. These systems use the ground as a heat source and the heat sink for cooling mode operation. The purpose of this simulation study is to evaluate the performance of a hypothetical GSHP system in an office building and to assess the energy saving effect against the existing HVAC systems (boiler and turbo chiller). We collected monthly energy consumption data from an actual office building ($32,488m^2$) in Seoul, and created a model to calculate the hourly building loads with EnergyPlus. In addition, we used GLD (Ground Loop Design) V8.0, a GSHP system design and simulation software tool, to evaluate hourly and monthly performance of the GSHP system. The energy consumption for the GSHP system based on the hourly simulation results were estimated to be 582.6 MWh/year for cooling and 593.2 MWh/year for heating, while those for the existing HVAC systems were found to be 674.5 MWh/year and 2,496.4 MWh/year, respectively. The seasonal performance factor (SPF) of the GSHP system was also calculated to be in the range of 3.37~4.28.
Ad Hoc 네트워크에서 Threshold-Tuning을 통한 노드들간의 균형적인 에너지 소모를 위한 알고리즘 (BECT : A Balanced Energy Consumption Algorithm by Threshold-Tuning)을 제안한다.

Configuring optimization of wireless sensor networks, which can improve the network performance such as utilization efficiency and network lifetime with minimal energy, has received considerable attention in recent years. In this paper, a cross layer optimal approach is proposed for multi-source linear network and grid network under Rayleigh block-fading channels, which not only achieves an optimal utility but also guarantees the end-to-end reliability. Specifically, in this paper, we first strictly present the optimization method for optimal nodal number $N^*$, nodal placement $d^*$ and nodal transmission structure $p^*$ under constraints of minimum total energy consumption and minimum unit data transmitting energy consumption. Then, based on the facts that nodal energy consumption is higher for those nodes near the sink and those nodes far from the sink may have remaining energy, a cross layer optimal design is proposed to achieve balanced network energy consumption. The design adopts lower reliability requirement and shorter transmission distance for nodes near the sink, and adopts higher reliability requirement and farther transmission distance for nodes far from the sink, the solvability conditions is given as well. In the end, both the theoretical analysis and experimental results for performance evaluation show that the optimal design indeed can improve the network lifetime by 20-50%, network utility by 20% and guarantee desire level of reliability.

This study includes the fundamental planning of the sectoral management technology in energy distribution system so that the industry itself would be willing to participate for the effective energy conservation in its own sector. Furthermore guidlines for the effective energy management techniques have been presented by first analyzing the energy consumption structures, the energy loss problems, the energy conservation status and the technology demands, and second classifying, according to the energy distribution system, the energy source management, the energy generation & conversion facilities, the energy transportation & storage facilities, the energy consumming facilities and the waste energy management, etc. in the industrial sector.
Because of their low operating and maintaining costs, ground-source heat pump(GSHP) systems are an increasingly popular choice for providing heating, cooling and water heating to public and commercial buildings. Despite these ad- vantages and the growing awareness, GSHP systems to residential sectors have not been adopted in Korea until recently. A feasibility study of a residential GSHP system was therefore conducted using the traditional life cycle cost(LCC) analysis within the current electricity price framework and potential scenarios of that framework. As a result, when the current residential electricity costs for running the GSHP system are applied, the GSHP system has weak competitiveness to conven- tional HVAC systems considered. However, when the operating costs are calculated in the modified price frameworks of electricity, the residential GSHP system has the lower LCC than the existing cooling and heating equipments. The calculation results also show that the residential GSHP system has lower annual prime energy consumption and total pollutant emissions than the alternative HVAC systems considered in this work.
The university is one of the main energy consumption facilities and thereby releases a large amount of greenhouse gas (GHG). Accordingly, efforts for reducing energy consumption and GHG have been established in many local as well as international universities. However, it has been limited to energy consumption and GHG, and has not included air pollution (AP). Therefore, we estimated GHG and AP integrated emissions from the energy consumed by Seoul National University of Science and Technology during the years between 2010 and 2012. In addition, the effect of alternative energy use scenario was analysed. We estimated GHG using IPCC guideline and Guidelines for Local Government Greenhouse Inventories, and AP using APEMEP/EEA Emission Inventory Guidebook 2013 and Air Pollutants Calculation Manual. The estimated annual average GHG emission was $11,420tonCO_{2eq}$, of which 27% was direct emissions from fuel combustion sectors, including stationary and mobile source, and the remaining 73% was indirect emissions from purchased electricity and purchased water supply. The estimated annual average AP emission was 7,757 kgAP, of which the total amount was from direct emissions only. The annual GHG emissions from city gas and purchased electricity usage per unit area ($m^2$) of the university buildings were estimated as $15.4kgCO_{2eq}/m^2$ and $42.4tonCO_{2eq}/m^2$ and those per person enrolled in the university were $210kgCO_{2eq}$/capita and $577kgCO_{2eq}$/capita. Alternative energy use scenarios revealed that the use of all alternative energy sources including solar energy, electric car and rain water reuse applicable to the university could reduce as much as 9.4% of the annual GHG and 34% of AP integrated emissions, saving approximately 400 million won per year, corresponding to 14% of the university energy budget.
Korea is an industrial country that overspends energy and has a policy that is more focused on a supply side. When an urban developmental program is to set up, surveys are carried out only with the respect to electricity, telecommunication, gas, and heating sources. Based on the existing survey results, the problems related to the supply side are being dealt with more importantly and the quantities of those supplies are estimated only by each energy source. The aim of this study is to provide basic information on energy consumption patterns of a diverse comsumer groups including industry, transportation, commerce, public and household to plan diverse energy policies. Through this basic information, it may be possible to analyze the energy consumption pattern by each consumer group and provide data for setting up efficient energy policies by the government. The energy consumption map that are analyzed and developed by the data obtained from Busan municipal area will be deposited and used as a part of the national energy statistics.
The optimal control system for heat source and HVAC system has been developed for minimizing energy consumption while maintaining the comfort of indoor thermal environment in terms of the environmental variables such as time varying indoor load and outdoor temperatures. The optimal set-points of control parameters are supply air temperature and chilled or hot water temperatures. The optimal control study has been implemented for biosafety laboratory by using TRNSYS simulation program in order to investigate energy performance for heat source and HVAC system.
This paper proposes the new operation control method that let heat source system stop and circulate only hot water at low load, and verified the introduction effect. At first, we constructed simulation model of heat source system and examined the proposing method by using simulation model. At last, we examined the introduction effect of proposing method with actual building. As a result, the primary energy consumption of heat source system was reduced by about 13%.
