Cost-Effective Model for Energy Saving in Super-Tall Building

  • In many urban cities, super-tall buildings have been being constructed around New York and Chicago as the center since 1930 to improve the efficiency of land use and respond to new residential type. In terms of energy consumption, super-tall buildings are classified as a top energy consumption building. Also, as time passed, the degradation of energy performance occurs in super-tall buildings like general things so that these cannot show the initial performance planned in the design phase. Accordingly, building owners need to make a plan to apply energy saving measures to existing building during the operation phase. In order to select energy saving measures, calculus-based methods and enumerative schemes have been typically used. However, these methods are time-consuming and previous studies which used these methods have problems with not considering the initial construction cost. Consequently, this study proposes a model for selecting an optimal combination of energy saving measures which derives maximum energy saving within allowable cost using genetic algorithms. As a contribution of this research, it would be expected that a model is utilized as one of the decision-making tools during the planning stage for energy saving.

  • The solar vehicle is in the spotlight in the eco-friendly aspect of photovoltaic system using unlimited solar energy. The solar vehicle uses energy of photovoltaic and battery. The solar vehicle uses stored energy in battery when photovoltaic power is lower than consumption power by solar vehicle and if photovoltaic power is higher than consumption power by solar vehicle then photovoltaic power is stored to battery. To improve use efficiency of photovoltaic, the researches about MPPT method to operate maximum power point and interior permanent magnet synchronous motor(IPMSM)drive system using photovoltaic is necessary. This paper proposes MPPT control algorithm for solar vehicle using new fuzzy control(NFC). In this paper, to reduce switching loss, the DC-DC converter is omitted. The NFC controller can be use instead of PO. The NFC controller is performed MPPT control using solar cell voltage and q -axis current of IPMSM. The output of NFC is command q -axis current of IPMSM and this current is operated IPMSM. The response characteristics of algorithm proposed in this paper is compared response characteristics of conventional PO method by PSIM program and validity of this paper prove using this result.

Electro-Fenton 반응을 이용한 유독성 유기화합물 처리 (Removal of Toxic Organic Compound using Electro-Fenton Reaction)

  • The feasibility and efficiency of the hydrogen peroxide produced by an electrolysis cell reactor was investigated, From regulating voltages for the given reaction time, the concentration of the hydrogen peroxide was gradually increased with increasing voltages. Optimal voltage range was found to be 10~15 V. The concentration of hydrogen peroxide was much higher with oxygen gas than without oxygen gas in the cathodic chamber. But there was a little difference in the generating rate of hydrogen peroxide regardless of the presence of nitrogen gas. Under given conditions, the maximum value of ICE(Instantaneous Current Efficiency) was about 38%, and then current density was 74 $mA/\textrm{cm}^2.$ The specific energy consumption was $0.694[kWh/kg-H_2O_2].$ Since Esp (Specific Energy Consumption)was very little value, It did not demand high energy in this system. Using the hydrogen peroxide gained in the experiment, Fenton's reaction was conducted and the removal of nitrobenzene, 3-chlorophenol and dye wastewater was studied. This results were very similar to the Fenton's reaction by using commercial hydrogen peroxide.

HILS 기반의 수중체 냉각 시스템 개선 (Improvement of Submarine Cooling System using HILS Simulation)

  • Owing to rapid development of power device and inverters, most of submarines adopt an eletric propulsion system. Although PMPM(Permanent Magnet Propulsion Motor) propulsion system has relatively higher power, energy conversion efficiency and smaller volume than engine propulsion system, it also produces large amount of heat due to current flowing inside motor coils and change of magnetic field induced by iron core. The produced heat in stator and inverter largely affects motor efficiency and bearing lubrication and causes thermal aging while the system is on operation. So, we analyze the existing cooling system and submarine ESS (Energy Saving System) cooling system whose power consumption is reduced. HILS(Hardware In the Loop System) technique is used for the modelling of the submarine cooling system. To confirm the ESS cooling system characteristic, HILS is simulated using LabVIEW with hardware. As a result, the ESS cooling system has the characteristic of better temperature stability and less power consumption than the existing one.

  • 센서 네트워크를 구성하는 센서 노드들은 제한된 배터리 용량을 가지고 있으며 한번 배치되면 추가적인 에너지 공급이 어렵기 때문에 노드의 소비 전력을 최소화하기 위한 연구가 중요하다. 많은 연구 중 클러스터링 기법은 센서 네트워크에서 에너지 소비를 줄이기 위한 효과적인 기법중의 하나로 각광 받아왔다. 하지만, 클러스터링 기법은 클러스터의 수와 크기, 데이터전송에 참여하는 노드간의 거리등에 따라 에너지 절감 효과가 달라진다. 따라서 이러한 요인들을 최적화해야 클러스터링에 의한 에너지 절감 효과를 최대화할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 확률적 최적해 탐색 기법인 유전자 알고리즘을 사용하여 센서 노드의 에너지 소비를 줄일 수 있는 최적의 클러스터를 찾는 것을 목적으로 한다. 유전자 알고리즘은 클러스터를 구성할 수 있는 수많은 경우의 수중에서 최적의 클러스터를 찾기 위해 진화의 과정을 거쳐 탐색을 수행한다. 따라서 진화 과정이 없는 LEACH와 같은 클러스터링 알고리즘보다 효과적일 수 있다. 본 연구에서 제안하는 2차원 염색체 유전자 알고리즘은 염색체내에 존재하는 각 노드에게 고유한 위치정보를 부여함으로써 기존 유전자 알고리즘보다 효율적인 유전자 진화를 수행할 수 있다. 그 결과, 센서 네트워크의 수명을 최대화 할 수 있는 최적의 클러스터를 빠르고 효과적으로 찾을 수 있다.

무선 센서 네트워크에서 전송 효율과 에너지 소비에 대한 블록 FEC 심볼 크기 영향 분석 (Analysis of Block FEC Symbol Size's Effect On Transmission Efficiency and Energy Consumption over Wireless Sensor Networks)

  • 본 논문에서는 저속의 무선 센서 네트워크(WSN: Wireless Sensor Network)에서 블록 FEC(Forward Error Correction) 알고리즘의 심볼 크기의 변화에 따른 802.11 MAC 프로토콜의 전송 효율과 전송 에너지를 해석적으로 분석한다. 블록 FEC 알고리즘은 심볼(symbol) 단위로 오류를 복원하므로, 주어진 무선 센서 채널에서 같은 FEC 체크 비트(check bit) 량을 사용하더라도 블록 FEC 알고리즘의 오류 패킷 복원률은 블록 FEC 심볼 크기에 의존적이다. 즉, 같은 양의 FEC 체크 비트를 사용하는 경우에, 연속된 군집 오류 길이는 작으면서 군집 오류가 자주 발생하는 채널에서는 작은 FEC 심볼이, 이에 반해 군집 오류의 길이는 크고 군집 오류 개수가 작은 군집적 분포를 보이는 채널에서 큰 FEC 심볼이 효율적이다. 심볼 크기의 영향을 평가하기 위해서 본 논문에서는 센서 노드 TIP50CM을 사용하는 WSN에서 수집한 패킷 트레이스를 기반으로 WSN 채널을 Gilbert 모델로 모델링하고, 심볼 크기가 다른 RS(Reed-Solomon) 코드를 생성하고 해석하기 위한 에너지를 측정하였다. 이러한 모델링된 채널과 각 RS 코드 생성과 해석 에너지를 이용하여 FEC 심볼 크기에 따른 RS FEC 코드를 채택한 802.11 MAC 프로토콜의 전송 효율과 전송 에너지를 계산하였다. 실제 측정 데이터와 해석적으로 계산한 데이터를 결합한 계산에 의하면 비슷한 FEC 체크 비트 량을 사용하더라도 FEC 심볼 크기에 따라 전송 효율은 최대 4.2%, 그리고 소요 에너지는 최대 35%의 차이가 발생한다.

그린리모델링 기숙사의 물리적환경 변화와 거주자평가 (Physical Environment Change and Occupancy Evaluation on Green-Remodeled University Dormitory)

  • This study focuses on the university dormitory remodeled toward energy efficiency. The study has its purpose on deriving the aspects to be concerned for later green remodeling and enhancing the effects of green remodeling, by analyzing the changes of physical environment, changes of energy consumption amount, and needs of the residents. For this purpose, the study went through the review of project report from government office for green remodeling, field investigation of remodeling elements, and the occupancy evaluation by Focus Group Interview. FGI means interviewing small group of the residents who lived in the subjected dormitories both before and after the remodeling. As results, the elements of green remodeling in targeted dormitories were inner wall insulation, top-floor ceiling insulation, replacement of windows, installment of automatic entrance door and making transfer space connected the entrance door. As the parts of equipment system, EHP high-efficiency cooler, highly efficient radiator, upgraded LED lightings with covers, and automatic control system (only one building) were installed. Energy consumption was declined, and the satisfaction of residents was increased after the green remodeling. However, the aspects which were not improved or unsatisfying also have been detected. Therefore, the study states the suggestions each for the administrators, designers and planners, and residents to concern for enhancing the effects of green remodeling or construction of new dormitories.

주물공장의 레이들용 고효율 이동형 집진장치 개발 (Development of a Movable Dust Collector with High Efficiency for Ladle in Foundry)

  • 환경오염방지와 에너지 소비 절감에 대한 기술 개발의 요구는 이미 사회 전체의 문제가 되고 있고, 주물산업에서의 환경과 에너지 관련 기술 개발 또한 최근 중요한 문제로 부상하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 주조공정에서 발생하는 분진의 친환경적인 집진처리를 위한 분진 흡입 시스템을 개발하고 기존의 건옥식 고출력 설비의 집진 효율과 비교 및 검토하였다. 넓은 범위를 집진하는 건옥식 방식은 에너지 및 집진 효율이 떨어지고, 건물 높이에 따라 효과를 보지 못 할 수도 있다는 단점이 있다. 또한 주물공장에서 발생하는 분진은 용해 후 출탕, 레이들 이송, 주입 공정까지 미세먼지의 발생원 위치가 연속적으로 바뀌기 때문에 효과적인 집진을 위한 국부적 범위의 이동식 집진장치의 개발이 요구된다. 이에, 본 논문에서는 이동하는 분진원에 효과적으로 대응할 수 있도록 크레인, 호이스트, 모노레일 등의 레이들 이송 장비에 집진 설비를 설치하고, 집진 특성을 평가하였다. 본 논문에서 개발한 이동형 집진 장치는 주물 생산 현장의 에너지 절감과 환경보호 측면에서 의의가 있으며, 타 산업 현장의 적용도 가능하다고 판단할 수 있다.

공동주택 단위세대의 기기발열 특성 분석 및 추정모델 개발 (An Analysis on Characteristics and the Development of Estimation Model of Internal Heat Gain from Appliances in Apartment Units)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze characteristics and to develop estimation model of IHG(Internal Heat Gain) from appliance in domestic apartment units. To do this, it was defined the source of IHG from appliance and the calculation method through the case study of international and domestic codes. And the equipment related datum such possession, usage or not, etc were collected through field survey in apartment units, and the appliances' electricity consumption were measured separately from overall electricity consumption. Annual electricity consumption value were calculated with field survey datum and appliances' electricity consumption measurement datum, and then IHG value was calculated by applying PHPP v9 method. And it was conducted correlation analysis between IHG value and the area for exclusive use, the number of occupants, and then the IHG from applianace estimation model was deducted with regression analysis. Finally, it was analyzed the present level and of the domestic code(The Building Energy Efficiency Rating System) comparing with the value of estimation model, and the various international codes(HERS, Building America, SAP).
