This paper analyzes the relationship between income distribution and energy consumption from a Pareto optimal approach. For this purpose, the causality relationship between electricity consumption per capita (kWh) with respect to country groups and energy consumption per capita (kg of oil equivalent) along with gross domestic product per capita was analyzed. In addition to this purpose, a Pareto analysis was conducted to determine the countries with the highest per capita national income, how much of the world total energy they consume, and whether the law of power in the energy and electricity markets exists. Finally, the impact of official development assistance provided to low-income countries by high-income countries on the low-income countries' electricity and energy consumption was analyzed. In other words, it was questioned whether pareto redistribution policies serve the purpose or not. The Engle-Granger causality approach was used in the analysis of the causality relationship between variables. Our analysis indicated that, first, the energy data of the country groups may be inadequate in revealing income inequalities. Second, the existence of Pareto law of power and global income inequality can be explained based on energy data. Finally, Pareto optimal redistribution policies to eliminate income inequality remain inadequate in practice.

Purpose: In this study, we analyzed the energy performance levels and high-performance technology trends through the case studies of foreign high-performance buildings. Method: Buildings built within 10 years were selected for the analysis of recent trends. we analyzed the buildings of U.S.A, Germany and Japan using LEED certified buildings, Passive House certified buildings and CASBEE certified buildings database for the case study of foreign high-performance buildings. A total of 20 high-performance buildings including 14 cases in U.S.A, 4 cases in Germany and 4 cases in Japan were selected. Annual energy consumption levels for 20 high-performance buildings were collected with the actual energy consumption data or data from simulation programs officially recognized by DOE. Annual energy consumption were compared with the energy performance standard of the office buildings in the CBECS database, ASHRAE Standard 90.1-2004 and Building Energy Efficiency Rating System in Korea. Result: The order of the green strategies applied in the main categories are Renewable Energy(63%), Indoor Environment Control(51%), Envelope Improvement(44%) and HVAC System & Control(28%). Specified strategies most widely used in the sub-categories are high-performance Insulation (70%), High Efficiency Heating, Cooling Source Equipment(85%), Photovoltaic&Solar Thermal(80%) and Daylighting(80%).
This paper presents the necessary elements and data flow in developing a monitoring system of energy usage for apartment houses with a Smart TV. Energy consumption data in each home are collected and analyzed in the HUB station by way of measuring instruments. And the amount of energy usage, such as electricity, gas, hot water, heating, water and other utilities are displayed through the Smart TV application. Energy consumption Database in the HUB station are processed and displayed in the browser of a Smart TV through XML, JAVASCRIPT and Flash. Smart TV users can get the energy consumption status through the energy consumption analysis display of the Smart TV application and improve the energy efficiency by comparing the usage patterns with neighboring houses. And the application display energy usage information, consumption ranking, rates to user as well. Furthermore, usage of last month or year can be compared to help to reduce the energy usage. The proposed system can provide the information about the amount of energy use to be reduced and the warning on the waste of energy.
Korea government published renewable energy obligation policy that public building must be supplied some part of total consumption energy (2019: 27%, 2020: 30%). RETScreen is freely available global energy tool that developed by Canadian National Energy Laboratory to quantify energy saving to compare conventional system. This program can be performed energy modeling, cost analysis, greenhouse gas emission analysis and financial analysis. In this study, GSHP (Ground source heat pump) heating and cooling system were studied for the energy deliverly and ROI (Return On Investment) in an office building. Three cases were studied according to the number of HP (Heat pump) units for the 1,000㎡ office building located in Daejeon. Results indicated that the energy delivery of the case 1 (1 HP unit) covered 57% of the office building heating and cooling energy consumption. The case 2 (2 HP units) covered 87.8% and the case 3 (3 HP units) covered 96.8% of the office building energy consumption. The ROI of the case 1 indicated 7.9 years. While 8.2 years for the case 2 and 9.7 years for the case 3.
Domestic ice making companies make effort to obtain products and neglect to introduce low cost product improvements with energy savings. The work presented here is an implementation of ice making method to improve both energy efficiency and productivity. In this present investigation, several ice making cycles are proposed for higher efficiency in the system. COP(Coefficient of Performance), ice making time and electric energy consumption are evaluated and compared with the conventional system. Results shows that COP is improved with more efficient use of time for ice making and electric consumption. Therefore, this can offer an opportunity for more efficient use of energy and higher productivity in ice making.
In line with the rapid economic growth of many countries, fossil fuel energy sources are also rapidly depleting. Therefore, the price is also rising rapidly, so it is necessary to develop new and renewable energy sources such as hydropower, geothermal power, nuclear power, wind power and solar energy to replace fossil fuel energy in the future. In this study, development of rotating concentrator module system, development of rotating module control control system, development of lamp and charge control controller, configuration and prototype production of rotating concentrating solar LED street light system, efficiency of rotating concentrating solar LED street light, and power production. The research was conducted in the order of evaluation of comprehensive performance tests such as consumption and consumption. As a result, the developed high-efficiency rotation-concentrating hybrid solar LED street light module system has a 50% higher light-gathering efficiency than existing products by tracing sunlight by self-developing a rotation-collecting module on existing solar LED street lamps according to the characteristics of Korea's topography. and the power generation was improved by more than 40%.
The concept of energy-efficient networking has begun to spread in the past few years, gaining increasing popularity. A common opinion among networking researchers is that the sole introduction of low consumption silicon technologies may not be enough to effectively curb energy requirements. Thus, for disruptively boosting the network energy efficiency, these hardware enhancements must be integrated with ad-hoc mechanisms that explicitly manage energy saving, by exploiting network-specific features. The IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) standard is one of such efforts. EEE introduces a low power mode for the most common Ethernet physical layer standards and is expected to provide large energy savings. However, it has been shown that EEE may not achieve good energy efficiency because mode transition overheads can be significant, leading to almost full energy consumption even at low utilization levels. Coalescing techniques such as packet coalescing and interrupt coalescing were proposed to improve energy efficiency of EEE, but their implementations typically adopt a simple policy that employs a few fixed values for coalescing parameters, thus it is difficult to achieve optimal energy efficiency. The paper proposes adaptive interrupt coalescing (AIC) that adopts an optimal policy that could not only improve energy efficiency but support performance. AIC has been implemented at the sender side with the Intel 82579 network interface card (NIC) and e1000e Linux device driver. The experiments were performed at 100 M bps transfer rate and show that energy efficiency of AIC is improved in most cases despite performance consideration and in the best case can be improved up to 37% compared to that of conventional interrupt coalescing techniques.

In this paper, we propose an algorithm for energy efficient cooperative communication in wireless sensor network (WSN). The algorithm computes the appropriate transmission distance corresponding to optimal broadcast bit error probability, while taking the circuit energy consumption and the number of cooperating nodes into consideration. The algorithm guarantees minimum energy consumption by choosing higher value of bit error probability for cooperative phase and lower value of bit error probability for broadcast phase while maintaining the required end-to-end reliability. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm provides significant energy saving gain when compared with traditional fixed distance schemes and is suitable for applications demanding energy efficiency with high quality of reception.
실험을 통하여 제안된 클러스터링 기법은 LEACH(Low-Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy)에 비해 전체 에너지 소모량 측면에서 높은 성능을 나타냄을 확인하였다.

Recently, energy-efficient cellular transmission has received considerable research attention to improve the energy efficiency of wireless communication. In this paper, we consider a cellular network consisting of one base station (BS) and multiple user terminals and explore the network coding for enhancing the energy efficiency of cellular downlink transmission from BS to users. We propose the network coded cellular transmission scheme and conduct its energy consumption analysis with target outage probability and data rate requirements in Rayleigh fading environments. Then, the energy efficiency in Bits-per-Joule is further defined and analyzed to evaluate the number of bits delivered per Joule of energy cost. Numerical results show that the network coded cellular transmission significantly outperforms the traditional cellular transmission in terms of energy efficiency, implying that given a Joule of energy cost, the network coded cellular transmission scheme can deliver more bits than the traditional cellular transmission.
