Effects of modelling on the earthquake response of asymmetrical multistory buildings

  • Responses of asymmetrical multistorey buildings to earthquakes are obtained by quasi-static code approach and real time dynamic analysis, using two different structural models. In the first model, all vertical members are assumed to be restrained at the slab levels and hence their end rotations, about horizontal axes, are taken as zero. In the second model this restriction is removed and the rotation is assumed to be proportional to the lateral stiffness of the member. A simple microcomputer based procedure is used in the analyses, by both models. Numerical examples are presented where results obtained from both the models are given. Effects of modelling on the response of three buildings, each with a different type and degree of asymmetry, are studied. Results for deflections and shear forces are presented and the effects of the type of model on the response are discussed.

  • 이 논문의 목적은 시뮬레이션 소프트웨어인 OPNET Modeler의 IPv6 Planning and Operations를 이용하여 IPv6 이관, IPv6 기반의 OSPFv3 라우팅 실험, OSPFv3 라우팅에 대한 IPv4/IPv6 듀얼 스택 네트워크와 IPv6 네트워크 Ping 실험을 가상망으로 모델링 후 종단간 라우팅 순환경로 관찰과 Ping 실험을 시뮬레이션하여 그 특성을 분석한 연구이다. 거대한 유무선 통합망을 토대로 한 IPv6 배치는 연구 과제 중 하나이며 이전문헌의 연구자들이 향후 연구로 남겨 놓은 OSPFv3와 EIGRP에 대한 성능 매트릭 분석을 IPv4/IPv6 환경 내에서 수행 계획과 어떻게 하면 종단간 IPv6 성능을 향상할 수 있는지를 탐색할 계획을 들 수 있다. 또한 IPv4 네트워크 상에 연구를 수행했으나 종단간 IPv6 기반의 OSPFv3 가상망 연구 수행은 없었던 점을 들 수 있다. 따라서 우리는 이전문헌의 연구를 이어서 IPv6 이관, IPv6 기반의 OSPFv3 라우팅, IPv4/IPv6 듀얼 스택 네트워크와 IPv6 네트워크에 대한 모델링, 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. 머지않은 미래에 본격적인 IPv6 활용 이전, IPv6 기반의 가상망을 IPv6 Planning and Operations 이용한 IPv6 이관 여부, 종단간 IPv6 기반의 OSPFv3에 대한 라우팅 순환 경로 탐색, OSPFv3 라우팅에 대한 IPv4/IPv6 듀얼 스택 네트워크와 IPv6 네트워크 Ping 실험으로 앤드유저 관점에 대한 IPv6 망 설계와 배치시 도움을 받을 것이다. 시뮬레이션 결과, 모델링된 종단간 가상망에 대한 최적 경로를 관찰할 수 있었고 인터넷 서비스 품질을 보장하는 VC 서버가 HTTP 서버보다 더 빠른 Ping 응답 시간을 보인 점을 알 수 있었다.

SD-WLB: An SDN-aided mechanism for web load balancing based on server statistics

  • Software-defined networking (SDN) is a modern approach for current computer and data networks. The increase in the number of business websites has resulted in an exponential growth in web traffic. To cope with the increased demands, multiple web servers with a front-end load balancer are widely used by organizations and businesses as a viable solution to improve the performance. In this paper, we propose a load-balancing mechanism for SDN. Our approach allocates web requests to each server according to its response time and the traffic volume of the corresponding switch port. The centralized SDN controller periodically collects this information to maintain an up-to-date view of the load distribution among the servers, and incoming user requests are redirected to the most appropriate server. The simulation results confirm the superiority of our approach compared to several other techniques. Compared to LBBSRT, round robin, and random selection methods, our mechanism improves the average response time by 19.58%, 33.94%, and 57.41%, respectively. Furthermore, the average improvement of throughput in comparison with these algorithms is 16.52%, 29.72%, and 58.27%, respectively.

전자상거래 시스템의 사용자 수 예측에 관한 연구 (A Study on Estimating the Number of Users in e-Commerce Systems)

  • 본 논문은 전자상거래 시스템의 수용 가능한 사용자 수를 예측하는 방법론을 제안한다. 폐쇄된 LAN상의 시스템에서 수용 가능한 사용자 수에 대해서는 이전문헌에 다양한 연구가 있었으나 실제 인터넷 망을 대상으로 전자상거래 시스템의 사용자 수 예측에 관한 연구는 미흡한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 종단간 초고속 인터넷 서비스 품질 측정 결과를 토대로 Hybrid Simulation에 적용하여 LAN과 WAN, 네트워크장비, 통신 대역폭 등에 대한 다양한 실험을 수행하였다. 구축한 전자상거래 시스템을 대상으로 한 실험결과, 초고속 인터넷 서비스 매체의 응답 시간은 연속적인 트랜잭션 깊이와 비 트랜잭션 대 트랜잭션 비율에 따라 달라진다는 사실을 관찰하였다. 즉, 망과 애플리케이션이 많은 일을 수행하고 있다면 수용 가능한 사용자 수는 감소되며, 반대의 경우는 수용 가능한 사용자 수가 증가하는 것을 실험을 통해 검증하였다. 또한 Cache Server, L4 Switch 등을 실험 모형에 추가한 실험을 통하여 수용 가능한 사용자 수 증가와 클라이언트 응답 시간의 감소 정도를 파악하였다.

A Performance Comparison between XEN and KVM Hypervisors While Using Cryptographic Algorithms

  • Cloud Computing is internet-based computing, where the users are provided with whatever service they need from the resources, software, and information. Recently, the security of cloud computing is considered as one of the major issues for both cloud service providers CSP and end-users. Privacy and highly confidential data make many users refuse to store their data within cloud computing, since data on cloud computing is not dully secured. The cryptographic algorithm is a technique which is used to maintain the security and privacy of the data on the cloud. In this research, we applied eight different cryptographic algorithms on Xen and KVM as hypervisors on cloud computing, to be able to measure and compare the performance of the two hypervisors. Response time and CPU utilization while encryption and decryption have been our aspects to measure the performance. In terms of response time and CPU utilization, results show that KVM is more efficient than Xen on average at 11.5% and 11% respectively. While TripleDES cryptographic algorithm shows a more efficient time response at Xen hypervisor than KVM.

  • Generally, in case the natural frequency of vehicle components is larger than the reversing frequency of load history, we can obtain the analysis results with small errors. But in case of having the low natural frequency, we must avoidably carry out the dynamic analysis, and it requires much time and storage. Specially executing the fatigue analysis for vehicle components requires more time. To this end, it is not easy that we accomplish the optimization considering fatigue for the vehicle component based on the dynamic analysis. In this research we introduce an efficient method which performs the fatigue analysis based on the dynamic analysis. Finally as making the response surface we optimize the vehicle component under dynamic fatigue.

패션산업에서의 실시간기업 도입 방안 (Implementation Strategy for the Real-Time Enterprise in Fashion Industry)

  • 패션계에서 크게 성공한 스페인의 Zara, 그리고 미국의 Limited Brands사는 고객의 취향이나 유행이 매우 빠르게 변화한다는 것에 착안하여 성공한 기업들이다. 변화에 유연하게 대응하는 민첩한 조직(agile organization)과 고객 요구사항에 신속하게 대응하는 감지-반응 기업(adaptive enterprise)에 대한 논의는 이전부터 제기되어왔으며 최근에는 실시간 기업(RTE; Real-Time Enterprise)이라는 개념으로 확산되고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 패션산업의 특성을 고려한 패션산업의 실시간기업화, 즉 RTE 가 되기 위한 도입 방안을 제시하였다. 패션산업이 실시간기업화 되기 위해서는 종단간 프로세스들이 지연시간 없이 운영되어야 하며 또한 RTE의 세 가지 중요한 속성인 가시성(visibility), 지능성(intelligence), 그리고 민첩성(agility)이 확보되어야 한다. 패션산업에서의 실시간기업화를 위해 이 두 가지 축, 즉 사이클론 모델의 세 단계와 RTE 속성을 축으로 하여 여기에 패션산업의 핵심 업무인 패션머천다이징을 적용, 패션산업의 실시간기업화를 위해 추진해야할 항목들을 도출하였으며 구현 및 기술관점에서 현재까지의 솔루션들을 정리하였다.

확률적 수요를 갖는 단일구매자와 단일공급자 시스템의 다품목 통합발주문제 (Joint Replenishment Problem for Single Buyer and Single Supplier System Having the Stochastic Demands)

  • In this paper, we analyze a logistic system involving a supplier who produces and delivers multiple types of items and a buyer who receives and sells the products to end customers. The buyer controls the inventory level by replenishing each product item up to a given order-up-to-level to cope with stochastic demand of end customers. In response to the buyer's order, the supplier produces or outsources the ordered item and delivers them at the start of each period. For the system described above, a mathematical model for a single type of item was developed from the buyer's perspective. Based on the model, an efficient method to find the cycle length and safety factor which correspond to a local minimum solution is proposed. This single product model was extended to cover a multiple item situation. From the model, algorithms to decide the base cycle length and order interval of each item were proposed. The results of the computational experiment show that the algorithms were able to determine the global optimum solution for all tested cases within a reasonable amount of time.

  • This paper is concerned with the forced flexural vibration analysis of hard disk drive (HDD) spindle systems with multiple thin disks, supported by two ball bearings based on the finite element model. This is the extension of the previous work which analytically modeled every system component taking into account its structural flexibility and also the centrifugal stiffening effect especially for the disks. Among the end results, the forced time response is expectedly useful for the vibration control of the spindle itself or the position servo control of the magnetic head. On the other hand, the steady state responses such as the frequency response function and the unbalance response are useful for system identification. Futhermore, through a coordinate transformation the equations of motion is also derived with respect to the inertial frame for convenient analyses of certain classes.

영구자석형 직류전동기 축계의 유한요소모델 개선과 진동해석 (Finite Element Model Updating and Vibration Analysis of PMDC Motor Rotor System)

  • In this paper, finite element modeling was performed for vibration analysis of a rotor system installed in sunroof motor, and analysis process was developed for natural frequency and unbalance response analysis. At the same time, to reduce analysis modeling error caused by the difference between analysis and measured values, finite element model updating was conducted using an optimization algorithm, i.e. hybrid genetic algorithm and simulated annealing (HGASA) method. For this end experimental modal test was carried out and by using the measured frequency response function (FRF), model updating was performed considering both cases where core coil was removed and included. And acceptable result was obtained. Also, dynamic property coefficient of bush bearing which influences vibration response of the rotor system was estimated.
