  • In this paper, the analysis of practical end-to-end delay in worst case is performed for distributed control system considering the implementation of the system. The control system delay is composed of the delay caused by multi-task scheduling of operating system, the delay caused by network communication, and the delay caused by the asynchronous between them. Through simulation tests based on CAN(Controller Area Network), the proposed end-to-end delay in worst case is validated. Additionally, online clock synchronization algorithm is proposed here for the control system. Through another simulation test, the online algorithm is proved to have better performance than offline one in the view of network bandwidth utilization.

  • In networking communication, nodes and base station send data to each nodes and destination nodes. In this perspective, it is very important to determine the direction in which data sent to each nodes or destination nodes. Ad-hoc routing protocol is a standard routing protocol that determines how the packets sent to destination. Ad-hoc routing protocol includes protocols such as Ad-hoc On-demand Distance Vector (AODV) and Dynamic Source Routing (DSR). In our efficient proposed protocol based on small end-to-end sequence numbers, route direction can be changed properly with the assistance of helper nodes. In this paper, we focus on the simulation analysis of proposed protocol and comparison with other routing protocol models such as AODV and DSR. We simulated using Network Simulator (NS-2) by parameters such as simulation time, number of nodes and packet size based on our metrics (packet delivery fraction, routing load, data throughput). Our proposed protocol based on small end-to-end sequence numbers shows better performance and superior to other two protocols.

  • Supporting Quality of Service (QoS) for multimedia services in heterogeneous mobile networks is a part of key issue for Three Generation Evolution (3GE) development. A QoS management structure needs to guarantee the QoS of moving users based on an end-to-end negotiation to support the seamless service when MT is moving between the heterogeneous networks. We propose an end-to-end negotiation method based on SLA(Service Level Agreement). For this aim, the SLA control and algorithm for supporting MT's QoS is considered. Simulation is focused on the average delay and packet loss rate, and the results show that our proposed method provides mobile terminals with the optimal performance.

  • Recently, biological technology industry shows great development. Instruments and systems related biological technology have been developed actively. In this paper, we developed a new micro end-effector for biological cell manipulation. The existing micro end-effector for biological cell manipulation has not any force sensing mechanism. Usually, excessive contact force occurring when the end-effector and a cell collide might make a damage on the cell. However, unfortunately, user can not notice the condition in case of using the existing end-effector. In order to overcome we proposed the improved micro end-effector having a force sensing mechanism. This paper presents the design concepts of the new micro end-effector. We carried out calibration of the force sensor and tested the performance of the proposed micro end-effector. Through a series of experiments the new micro end-effector shows the possibility of application for precision biological cell manipulation such as DNA operation

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore clinical nurse's reported conflict experience toward end-of-life medical decision making. Methods: Data were collected by in-depth interviews with eight nurses from three different wards of university hospital in D city of Korea. Conventional qualitative analysis was used to analyze the data. Results: Results were three major themes and twelve categories from the analysis. The three major themes were prioritization of treatment, non-disclosure of diagnosis, and hierarchical and power relations. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that shared decision making in end of life among patient, family members, physician, and nurse may contribute to improve end-of-life care performance as well as dignified dying of patient in end of life.

  • In wireless communication networks, single-radio single-channel architecture degrades throughput and end-to-end delay due to half-duplex transmission of wireless node and route intra interference. Also, In contention-based MAC (Medium Access Control) architecture, channel contention reduces throughput and packet collision enlarges end-to-end delay. In this paper, we use multi-radio multi-channel architecture which will make wireless node to operate in full duplex mode, and exclude route intra interference. Based on this architecture, we propose a new link metric, ccf which reflects the characteristics of a contention-based wireless link, and propose a routing path metric MCCR considering channel switching delay and route intra interference. MCCR is compared with MCR by simulation, the performance of a route established by MCCR outperforms the performance of a route by MCR in terms of throughput and end-to-end delay.

  • Tensile property is one of the excellent properties of ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC), and uniaxial tensile test is an important and challenging mechanical performance test of UHPC. Traditional uniaxial tensile tests of concrete materials have inherent defects such as initial eccentricity, which often lead to cracks and failure in non-test zone, and affect the testing accuracy of tensile properties of materials. In this paper, an original integrated design scheme of mould and end fixture is proposed, which achieves seamless matching between the tension end of specimen and the test fixture, and minimizes the cumulative eccentricity caused by the difference in the matching between the tension end of specimen and the local stress concentration at the end. The stress analysis and optimization design are carried out by finite element method. The curve transition in the end of specimen is preferred compared to straight line transition. The rationality of the new integrated design is verified by uniaxial tensile test of strain hardening UHPC, in which the whole stress-strain curve was measured, including the elastic behavior before cracking, strain hardening behavior after cracking and strain softening behavior.

  • Today Internet is only Best-Effort service. During the past few years, new types of internet applications which require performance beyond the best-effort service that is provided by the current internet have emerged. These applications required QoS(Quality of Services) guarantee and Security between end-to-end. In this paper simulations Differentiated Services that IETF(Internet Engineering Task Forte) has proposed one of QoS(Quality of Services) guarantee VPN(Virtual private Network) using QoS(Quality of Services) guarantee and IP Security between end-to-end.

  • In recent years, there has been a strong interest in the end-to-end autonomous driving based on deep reinforcement learning. In this paper, we present a reward function of latent SAC deep reinforcement learning to improve the longitudinal driving performance of an agent vehicle. While the existing reward function significantly degrades the driving safety and efficiency, the proposed reward function is shown to maintain an appropriate headway distance while avoiding the front vehicle collision.

  • This study presents a replaceable reduced beam section (R-RBS) located at the column end in moment resisting frames (MRFs). An end of the R-RBS is connected to column by using end-plate moment connection and the other end of that is connected to main beam with beam splice connection. Therefore, the RBS that is expected to yield under an earthquake can be easily replaceable. Geometry of the RBS and the thickness of the beam splice connection are the prime variables of this study. A total of eight experimental test was carried out to examine the seismic performance of the proposed R-RBS with the connection details. The results obtained from experimental studies demonstrated that plate sizes of the beam splice connection significantly affect the seismic performance of RBSs used in MRFs.
