후판 압연공정에서의 판 선단부 형상제어 연구 (Ski-end shape control based on the model in heavy plate mill)

  • Studies on ski-end shape control at the top end of rolling plate in heavy thick plate mill by using FEM analysis and measuring system have been performed. Plate shape behaviour at the top-end on rolling by the two different methods in finishing rolling process has been observed. One is to minimize the height of ski-end by using pass line based on the relational model between shape factor and pick-up and the other one is to prevent turn down problem caused by the impact between table roller and down bended plate on rolling by using roll speed difference. To minimize the height of ski-end, the prediction models based on the FEM analysis and measuring data was developed. The control method of ski - end shape on finishing rolling process was applied in actual mill and the height of ski-end was reduced by about 50% compared with conventional operation.

Ti-6Al-4V 합금의 가공에서 공구 수명 향상을 위한 엔드밀 형상의 선정에 관한 연구 (Study on the Selection of End Mill Shape to Improve Tool Life in End Mill Process of Ti-6Al-4V Alloy)

  • This study aims to find the shapes of an end-mill with low cutting temperature during the end-mill process of Ti-6Al-4V alloy. Such ${\alpha}-{\beta}$ titanium alloys are increasingly more used for their high tensile strength and high corrosion resistance. The cutting characteristics of Ti-6Al-4V alloy were studied using an analytical method validated by comparing the estimated cutting resistance with that from experiments. The end-mill shape was analyzed using an experimental method. The end-mill shape with low cutting resistance and low cutting temperature was confirmed by analyzing the signal-to-noise ratios for various conditions. Then, the factors with significance factor of 95% or more were determined in the variance analysis. Finally, an end-mill shape that can ensure a low cutting temperature was proposed.

승용차용 브레이크 Tube-End의 최적설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Optimal Design of the Brake Tube-End for Automobiles)

  • Brake tube is considered one of the most important parts in automobile. The shape of brake tube-end has a great influence on the function of brake, and the quality and productivity of brake tube have relation to die design. The forming process of brake tube-end is peformed by hydraulic press forming machine. In this paper, the forming processes of tube-end for automobile is analyzed and designed to make the optimal form of brake tube-end. Also, finite element analysis has been carried out using DEFORM-3D$\^$TM/ to predict the optimal shape of brake tube-end and the results obtained showed the optimal length between punch and chuck is 1.0 ∼ 1.2mm. The shape of tube-end is in good agreement with the finite element simulations and the experimental results.

End shape and rotation effect on steel pipe pile installation effort and bearing resistance

  • The current study focuses on the effect of the end shape of steel pipe piles on installation effort and bearing resistance using the pressing method of installation under dense ground conditions. The effect of pile rotation on the installation effort and bearing resistance is also investigated. The model steel piles with a flat end, cone end and cutting-edge end were used in this study. The test results indicated that cone end pile with the pressing method of installation required the least installation effort (load) and showed higher ultimate resistance than flat and cutting-edge end piles. However, pressing and rotation during cutting-edge end pile installation considerably reduces the installation effort (load and torque) if pile penetration in one rotation equal to the cutting-edge depth. Inclusion of rotation during pile installation reduces the ultimate bearing resistance. However, if penetration of the cutting-edge end pile equal to the cutting-edge depth in one rotation, the reduction in ultimate resistance can be minimized. In comparing the cone and cutting-edge end piles installed with pressing and rotation, the least installation effort is observed in the cutting-edge end pile installed with penetration rate equal to the cutting-edge depth per rotation.

자동차 브레이크용 튜브의 끝단 성형 공정 설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on Design of Forming Process of Tube-end for Brake of Automobiles)

  • End part of the brake tube formed with the shape of snake head is important for the braking of automobile in safety because it has to prevent crack, fracture and defects occurred during the forming process. Especially, the shape of tube end has influence on the ability of brake. Based on the procedure of process design, in this paper, the forming operation is done by finite element method and the design variables are analyzed by Taguchi method. Design variables such as the outer angle of tube end with the shape of snake head(A), the inner angle to make a hole at tube end with the shape of snake head(B) and the forming distance at tube end(C) are used. Optimization of design variables is performed to minimize the damage factor of the tube end occurred during the forming process. The value of damage factor of 0.327 was obtained under the optimal condition like $A=114^{\circ},\;B=80^{\circ}$ and C=5.3mm, respectively.

자동차용 브레이크 튜브 및 플레어 너트의 제조에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Manufacturing of Brake tube and Flare nut for Automobiles)

  • The purpose of the present paper is to investigate the optimal shape of the brake tube-end and flare nut for automobiles using the $DEFORM^{TM}-3D$, finite element code. A flare nut is a small and important part used to join a brake tube-end in automobiles. In this instance, we studied the optimal forging processes for the tube-end and flare nut. Finite element analysis has been carried out to predict an optimal shape of the tube-end and flare nut. Also the simulation results were reflected to the forging processes design for the tube-end and flare nut. The shape of the tube-end and flare nut is in agreement with the finite element simulation and the test results.

변형후 형상의 최적화를 위한 동맥과 PTFE 문합의 직경비 연구 (The Study on the Diameter Ratio of the Artery-PTFE Anastomosis for the Optimized Deformed Shape)

  • 본 연구에서는 end-to-end 문합시 변형된 직경의 불일치로 인하여 발생하게 되는 혈관질환을 방지하기 위하여 기계역학적 거동을 유한요소 법을 이용하여 해석한 결과를 나타내었다. 이 연구에서는 서로 다른 직경을 가지는 동맥과 인공혈관인 PTFE의 문합시 봉합으로 인한 예변형을 고려하였으며, 봉합된 문합부에 수축기혈압인 120mmHg(16.0KPa)을 작용시켜 혈관의 변형을 분석하였다. 변형 후 최종 문합부의 형상은 동맥과 PTFE의 초기 직경비(R$_{I}$)와 PTFE의 두께에 대하여 분석하였다. 그리고 동맥과 PTFE의 초기 직경비가 문합부에서 발생되는 응력에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지에 대하여 해석하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 혈관내막의 증식등을 고려하지 않고 봉합으로 인한 예변형과 수축기 혈압만을 고려할 경우 가장 이상적인 초기 직경비(R$_{I}$)는 1.073이다. 2. 상당응력과 원주방향응력은 초기 직경비(R$_{I}$) 증가에 따라 증가하며 모두 접합부에서 PTFE측으로 0.4mm 떨어진 지점에서 최대값이 발생하였다.

  • Due to the development of CNC machining centers and the complexity of machined part geometry, the ball-end milling became the most widely used the cutting process. Generally, the tool runout defined as the eccentricity of a rotating tool set in the holder involved the spindle runout and the problem of tool runout generated to remove the workpiece is a main factor affecting the machining accuracy. In this paper, the relationship of tool runout(zero-to-peak, P-K) and surface shape on the change of cutting conditions is studied and it is proposed the probability of prediction of surface shape from the in-process tool runout measurements with high response displacement sensor in the ball-end milling

  • This study aimed at proposing the optimum design of stilling basins in dam spillways by analyzing hydraulic characteristics for various positions and shapes of end sills through the hydraulic model test. The performance of energy dissipating in the case of vertical shape of end sill was much better than the case of inclined shape. Moreover, we could confirm that no further improvement in hydraulic characteristics at stilling basin as well as downstream of the river were made if the height of end sill was increased up EL 50m, e.g., the proposed design value by computation.
