  • We propose a cell-multiplexing scheme for the real-time communication service in ATM network and a new service discipline guarantee end-to-end delay based on pseudo-isochronous cell switching. The proposed scheme consists of two level frame hierarchy, upper and lower frame, which is used to assign the bandwidth and to guarantee the requested delay bound, respectively. Since the proposed algorithm employs two level frame hierarchy, it can overcome the coupling problem which is inherent to the framing strategy. The proposed scheme consists of two components, traffic controller and scheduller, as the imput traffic description model and regulates the input traffic specification. The function of the traffic controller is to shape real-time traffic to have the same input pattern at every switch along the path. The end-to-end delay is bounded by the scheduller which can limit the delay variation without using per-session jitter controllers, and therefore it can decrease the required buffer size. The proposed algorithm can support the QoS's of non-real time traffic as well as those of real time traffic

  • One of the methods improving the seismic behavior of a structure is the frame with reduced beam section (RBS) which cuts a segment of flanges of the beam near the beam-to-column connection so that the section with reduced flanges has smaller flexural strength than the beam end. It is difficult to analyze the RBS frame because RBS portion has circular-cut type flange. And inelastic response of the steel frame with the RBS is very sensitive to the RBS model. In this paper, the analytical models of RBS portion are investigated and the results of the inelastic analysis for RBS analytical models are compared and then the analytical model for RBS is determined based on the results of inelastic analysis. Inelastic behavior of the RBS frame and its dynamic characteristics are investigated for selected analytical model of RBS.

  • Based on the design requirements(size, strength, structure, weight, and etc.) for the rubber-tired AGT vehicle, carbody made of aluminum alloy is designed. The analysis of strength and stiffness is performed in the designed carbody, which results in the modification for optimal shapes and structures. It consists of a under frame, side frame, roof frame, end frame and forehead frame. After the carbody manufactured, tests are performed, which are vertical load test, longitudinal compressive load test, twisting load test, twisting natural frequency measurement, bending natural frequency measurement and 3 points supporting test. Results of them can guarantee a structural safety.

Experimental studies on steel frame structures of traditional-style buildings

  • This paper experimentally investigated the behavior of steel frame structures of traditional-style buildings subjected to combined constant axial load and reversed lateral cyclic loading conditions. The low cyclic reversed loading test was carried out on a 1/2 model of a traditional-style steel frame. The failure process and failure mode of the structure were observed. The mechanical behaviors of the steel frame, including hysteretic behaviors, order of plastic hinges, load-displacement curve, characteristic loads and corresponding displacements, ductility, energy dissipation capacity, and stiffness degradation were analyzed. Test results showed that the Dou-Gong component (a special construct in traditional-style buildings) in steel frame structures acted as the first seismic line under the action of horizontal loads, the plastic hinges at the beam end developed sufficiently and satisfied the Chinese Seismic Design Principle of "strong columns-weak beams, strong joints-weak members". The pinching phenomenon of hysteretic loops occurred and it changed into Z-shape, indicating shear-slip property. The stiffness degradation of the structure was significant at the early stage of the loading. When failure, the ultimate elastic-plastic interlayer displacement angle was 1/20, which indicated high collapse resistance capacity of the steel frame. Furthermore, the finite element analysis was conducted to simulate the behavior of traditional-style frame structure. Test results agreed well with the results of the finite element analysis.

Design and Implementation of Network-Adaptive High Definition MPEG-2 Streaming employing frame-based Prioritized Packetization (프레임 기반의 우선순위화를 적용한 네트워크 적응형 HD MPEG-2 스트리밍의 설계 및 구현)

  • As the networked media technology have been grown in recent, there have been many research works to deliver high-quality video such as HDV and HDTV over the Internet. To realize high-quality media service over the Internet, however, the network adaptive streaming scheme is required to adopt to the dynamic fluctuation of underlying networks. In this paper, we design and implement the network-adaptive HD(high definition) MPEG-2 streaming system employing the frame-based prioritized packetization. Delivered video is inputted from the JVC HDV camera to the streaming sewer in real-time. It has a bit-rate of 19.2 Mbps and is multiplexed to the MPEG-2 TS (MPEG-2 MP@HL). For the monitoring of network status, the packet loss rate and the average jitter are measured by using parsing of RTP packet header in the streaming client and they are sent to the streaming server periodically The network adaptation manager in the streaming server estimates the current network status from feedback packets and adaptively adjusts the sending rate by frame dropping. For this, we propose the real-time parsing and the frame-based prioritized packetization of the TS packet. The proposed system is implemented in software and evaluated over the LAN testbed. The experimental results show that the proposed system can enhance the end-to-end QoS of HD video streaming over the best-effort network.

Seismic Performance Evaluation of Non-Seismic Reinforced Concrete Buildings Strengthened by Perimeter Steel Moment Frame (철골 모멘트골조로 보강된 철근콘크리트 건물의 내진성능 평가)

  • This paper is to investigate the retrofitting effect for a non-seismic reinforced concrete frame strengthened by perimeter steel moment frames with indirect integrity, which ameliorates the problems of the direct integrity method. To achieve this, first, full-scale tests were conducted to address the structural behavior of a two-story non-seismic reinforced concrete frame and a strengthened frame. The non-seismic frame showed a maximum strength of 185 kN because the flexural-shear failure at the bottom end of columns on the first floor was governed, and shear cracks were concentrated at the beam-column joints on the second floor. The strengthened frame possessed a maximum strength of 338 kN, which is more than 1.8 times that of the non-seismic specimen. A considerable decrease in the quantity of cracks for the strengthened frame was observed compared with the non-seismic frame, while there was the obvious appearance of the failure pattern due to the shear crack. The lateral-resisting capacity for the non-seismic bare frame and the strengthened frame may be determined per the specified shear strength of the reinforced columns in accordance with the distance to a critical section. The effective depth of the column may be referred to as the longitudinal length from the border between the column and the foundation.   • The heat generated in an induction motor is mostly dissipated through the frame. The study on the heat transfer characteristics of a newly manufactured finless TEFC(Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled) induction motor showed/that it had an unsuitable structure in view of the heat transfer. The angle of the cooling air flow was very large and the ribs disturbed the air flow and partially generated the wake region on the frame. In the wake region the temperature was very high. Thus the heat transfer coefficients were lower than those of the frame with fins. Also was investigated the heat transfer characteristics of the motor frame by installing various guide vanes in the fan-side end cap. An optimum heat transfer case was found and the average heat transfer coefficient of the frame was 70% higher and the average coil temperature measured by the resistance method was 9 deg. C lower than that of the frame which had no guide vanes.

  • Recent years, as a rapid development of multimedia technology, video database system to retrieve video data efficiently seems to core technology in the oriented society. This thesis describes an efficient automatic frame detection and location method for content based retrieval of video. Frame extraction part is consist of incoming / outgoing car frame extraction and car number frame extraction stage. We gain star/end time of car video also car number frames. Frames are selected at fixed time interval from video and key frames are selected by color scale histogram and edge operation method. Car frame recognized can be searched by content based retrieval method.

Improving transformer-based speech recognition performance using data augmentation by local frame rate changes (로컬 프레임 속도 변경에 의한 데이터 증강을 이용한 트랜스포머 기반 음성 인식 성능 향상)

  • In this paper, we propose a method to improve the performance of Transformer-based speech recognizers using data augmentation that locally adjusts the frame rate. First, the start time and length of the part to be augmented in the original voice data are randomly selected. Then, the frame rate of the selected part is changed to a new frame rate by using linear interpolation. Experimental results using the Wall Street Journal and LibriSpeech speech databases showed that the convergence time took longer than the baseline, but the recognition accuracy was improved in most cases. In order to further improve the performance, various parameters such as the length and the speed of the selected parts were optimized. The proposed method was shown to achieve relative performance improvement of 11.8 % and 14.9 % compared with the baseline in the Wall Street Journal and LibriSpeech speech databases, respectively.

Robust 3-D Motion Estimation Based on Stereo Vision and Kalman Filtering (스테레오 시각과 Kalman 필터링을 이용한 강인한 3차원 운동추정)

  • This paper deals with the accurate estimation of 3- D pose (position and orientation) of a moving object with reference to the world frame (or robot base frame), based on a sequence of stereo images taken by cameras mounted on the end - effector of a robot manipulator. This work is an extension of the previous work[1]. Emphasis is given to the 3-D pose estimation relative to the world (or robot base) frame under the presence of not only the measurement noise in 2 - D images[ 1] but also the camera position errors due to the random noise involved in joint angles of a robot manipulator. To this end, a new set of discrete linear Kalman filter equations is derived, based on the following: 1) the orientation error of the object frame due to measurement noise in 2 - D images is modeled with reference to the camera frame by analyzing the noise propagation through 3- D reconstruction; 2) an extended Jacobian matrix is formulated by combining the result of 1) and the orientation error of the end-effector frame due to joint angle errors through robot differential kinematics; and 3) the rotational motion of an object, which is nonlinear in nature, is linearized based on quaternions. Motion parameters are computed from the estimated quaternions based on the iterated least-squares method. Simulation results show the significant reduction of estimation errors and also demonstrate an accurate convergence of the actual motion parameters to the true values.
