극상근 파열에 대한 Empty Can Test의 진단적 가치 - 관절경 소견과 비교 - (Empty Can Test for Diagnosis of Supraspinatus Tear - Compare with Arthroscopic Finding -)

  • Object: To determine the sensitivity, specificity, and positive and negative predictive values of an empty can test for diagnosing supraspinatus tendon tear. Methods: We reviewed 146 patients who have shoulder pain with limited active range of motion. We evaluated patients according to empty can test. Sensitivity, specificity, and positive and negative predictive values for supraspinatus test was estimated using arthroscopic evaluation. Results: A hundred and twenty-four of 127 cases with positive empty can test had supraspinatus tendon tear. Of 19 samples with negative empty can test, 15 had no supraspinatus tear. Sensitivity, specificity, and positive and negative predictive values for the empty can test were 97.6%, 83.3%, 97.6%, and 78.9%, respectively. Conclusions: Empty can test was found to have a high sensitivity and good positive predictive value in identifying the tear of rotator cuff tendon. We concluded that empty can test of the shoulder is a reliable diagnostic method which could be used for the diagnosis of rotator cuff tear.

회전근 개 파열의 진단을 위한 극상근 검사에서 유용한 양성 징후는 무엇인가? - "Empty can test"와 full can test"에서 통증과 근력 약화의 비교 - (What are Valuable Positive Signs of Supraspinatus Test for Diagnosis of Torn Rotator Cuff? - Comparison of Pain and Weakness in "Empty Can Test" and "Full Can Test" -)

  • 목적: 회전근개 파열에서 극상근 검사의 진단적 가치와 유용한 검사 양성이 무엇인지를 밝히고자 하였다. 대상 및 방법: 견관절 통증 환자 200명을 대상으로 empty can test와 full can test를 시행하여 수술 또는 자기공명영상의 소견으로 분석하였다. 통증과 근력 약화를 나누어 기록하였으며, 파열의 정도에 따른 통증과 근력약화의 분포, 각 검사법의 예측율 및 기존의 양성이라고 정의 되었던 통증 또는 근력약화가 있는 경우와 다른 양성 징후 들과의 조합에 대한 일치도를 조사하였다. 결과: 통증과 근력약화는 회전근개 파열의 정도에 따라 비례하였고 empty can test에서 통증의 빈도가 높았다. 부분파열을 파열로 간주한 경우 두 검사 모두 민감도가 높았으나 특이도는 전층 열만을 파열로 간주한 경우가 높았다. 부분파열을 파열로 간주한 경우와 그렇지 않은 경우, 또한 Empty 및 Full can test 모두에서 통증과의 일치도가 가장 높았다. 결론: empty can test가 통증의 빈도가 높았으며, 두 가지 극상근 검사 모두 전층파열과 부분파열에 민감하고 전층파열에 특이하였다. 극상근 검사는 통증과 근력 약화를 분리하여 양성을 기록한다면 회전근 개 파열의 진단을 위한 이학적 검사로서 가치가 높다고 판단되었다.

  • 확대부 내열재의 스틸과 FRP 사이에 존재하는 미접착 결함과 미충전 결함을 검출하기 위해 초음파 공진법을 적용하였다. 초음파 공진법은 초음파 신호가 증폭되기 때문에 펄스에코법으로 검출하기 어려운 미접착 결함 및 에폭시 미충전 결함을 쉽게 검출할 수 있다. 공진 주파수는 삼중 매질의 음압 반사계수를 이용하여 예측하였고, 시험편의 초음파 신호에 대해 고속푸리에변환을 실시하여 측정하였다. 예측한 공진 주파수는 측정한 공진 주파수와 일치하므로 초음파 공진을 입증하였다.

인천국제공항철도 전동차의 주행안전성 평가 (The Evaluation for Running Safety of Incheon International Airport Railway EMU)

  • 본 논문은 인천국제공항철도에서 운행하고 있는 전동차의 동적특성시험을 수행한 결과이다. 인천국제공항철도의 직통형 전동차는 국내 처음으로 120km/h로 주행한 차량으로 탈선계수를 공차와 만차로 구분하여 측정하였다. 탈선계수측정결과 탈선에 대한 안전성을 판단할 때 가장 기본적인 지표로 사용하는 탈선계수는 공차 때가 만차 때보다 높게 나타났으며, 공차와 만차 모두 0.8 미만이었다. 속도에 따른 탈선계수는 80km/h를 전후한 속도 대역으로 운행하는 구간이 선로상태가 좋지 않은 구간으로서 탈선계수도 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 횡압은 공차 때에는 2.1톤 미만이었으며, 만차 때에는 2.4톤 미만으로 발생하였다. 인천국제공항철도 전동차가 120km/h 주행에서도 안전함을 탈선계수 실측에 의해 확인하였다. 그러나 본 논문에서 적용된 평가방법의 경우 시험방법이 복잡하고, 측정장치 설치의 어려움이 있으며, 비용이 많이 드는 단점이 있었다. 따라서 측정이 간단한 방법으로 영업운전에서도 차량의 안전성을 확인할 수 있는 방안이 연구되어야 할 것이다.

전동차 차륜직경변화가 가속성능에 미치는 영향 연구 (A Study on Acceleration Performances of EMUs According to Wheel Diameter Changes)

  • The diameter of a new wheel in EMUs is 860mm and it can be used up to 773mm. To obtain an predefined acceleration despite wheel diameter changes, the tractive efforts of the vehicles must be properly controlled. In the commencement of this study, acceleration tests were performed for empty EMUs when the wheel diameter was changed to 860mm, 820mm and 780mm, respectively. In order to deal with more complicated running conditions, we developed dynamic simulation models of the EMUs using VI-Rail, and simulated the models in empty and full passenger loads, respectively. Using the simulation results, we analyzed the gradient of time-velocity graphs by considering the changes of the total weight vehicles and moment of inertia of the wheelsets as well as tractive effort according to the wheel diameter changes. As the results, it was found that there are significant differences in acceleration performances according to the wheel diameters and the payloads of EMUs. In case of 860mm which is the maximum wheel diameter, the test & simulation results show that the vehicle couldn't reach the predefined acceleration, 3.0km/h/s, due to lack of tractive effort.

Investigation of water length effects on the modal behavior of a prototype arch dam using operational and analytical modal analyses

  • This study determines the water length effects on the modal behavior of a prototype arch dam using Operational and Analytical Modal Analyses. Achievement of this purpose involves construction of a prototype arch dam-reservoir-foundation model under laboratory conditions. In the model, reservoir length was taken to be as much as three times the dam height. To determine the experimental dynamic characteristics of the arch dam using Operational Modal Analysis, ambient vibration tests were implemented for empty reservoir and three different reservoir water lengths. In the ambient vibration tests, the dam was vibrated by natural excitations provided from small impact effects and the response signals were measured using sensitive accelerometers. Operational Modal Analysis software process signals collected from the ambient vibration tests, and Enhanced Frequency Domain Decomposition and Stochastic Subspace Identification techniques estimated modal parameters of the dams. To validate the experimental results, 3D finite element model of the prototype arch dam was modeled by ANSYS software for empty reservoir and three different reservoir water lengths, and dynamic characteristics of each model were determined analytically. At the end of the study, experimentally and analytically identified dynamic characteristics compared to each other. Also, changes on the natural frequencies along to water length are plotted as graphs. Results suggest that reservoir water complicates the modal behavior of the arch dam significantly.

Experimental evaluation of crack effects on the dynamic characteristics of a prototype arch dam using ambient vibration tests

  • The aim of the study is to determine the modal parameters of a prototype damaged arch dam by operational modal analysis (OMA) method for some damage scenarios. For this purpose, a prototype arch dam-reservoir-foundation model is constructed under laboratory conditions. Ambient vibration tests on the arch dam model are performed to identify the modal parameters such as natural frequency, mode shape and damping ratio. The tests are conducted for four test-case scenarios: an undamaged dam with empty reservoir, two different damaged dams with empty reservoirs, and a damaged dam with full reservoir. Loading simulating random impact effects is applied on the dam to crack. Cracks and fractures occurred at the middle of the upper part of the dams and distributed through the abutments. Sensitivity accelerometers are placed on the dams' crests to collect signals for measurements. Operational modal analysis software processes the signals collected from the ambient vibration tests, and enhanced frequency domain decomposition and stochastic subspace identification techniques are used to estimate modal parameters of the dams. The modal parameters are obtained to establish a basis for comparison of the results of two techniques for each damage case. Results show that approximately 35-40% difference exists between the natural frequencies obtained from Case 1 and Case 4. The natural frequencies of the dam considerably decrease with increasing cracks. However, observation shows that the filled reservoir slightly affected modal parameters of the dam after severe cracking. The mode shapes obtained are symmetrical and anti-symmetrical. Apparently, mode shapes in Case 1 represent the probable responses of arch dams more accurately. Also, damping ratio show an increase when cracking increases.

  • Among welded structure bogies in use for high speed freight car, a part of bogies manufactured in 1999 and 2000 have found problems that crack occurs in its end beam. In case of a freight car the difference of weight between empty and loading conditions are worse than in case of a passenger car. Moreover its brake system is tread brake without second suspension system. Cracks of end beam is supposed to be due to loading by brake system rather than vertical loading by freight. These cracks can make brake system useless and may be a cause of derailment in the worst case. In this study, we have proposed a simple torsion-free brake shoe holder hanger to remove torsion of hanger bracket which was supposed to be one of causes of cracks and performed finite element analyses. Also static load test was applied in torsion free brake shoe holder.

  • This paper proposes an efficiently representing method of spatial cues on multichannel spatial audio coding. The Binaural Cue Coding (BCC) method introduced recently represents multichannel audio signals by means of Inter Channel Level Difference (ICLD) or Source Index (SI). We tried to express more efficiently ICLD and SI information based on Inter Channel Correlation in this paper. We adopt different spatial cues according to ICC and propose a compensation method of empty spectrums created by using SI. We performed a MOS test and measuring spectral distortion. The results show that the proposed method can reduce the bitrate of side information without large degradation of the audio quality.
