Objectives: While occupational stress has long been a central focus of psychological research, few studies have investigated how immigrant microbusiness owners (MBOs) respond to their unusually demanding occupation, or how their unresolved occupational stress manifests in psychological distress. Based on the job demands-resources model, this study compared MBOs to employees with regard to the relationships among emotional demands, job resources, and depressive symptoms. Methods: Data were derived from a cross-sectional survey of 1288 Korean immigrant workers (MBOs, professionals, office workers, and manual workers) aged 30 to 70, living in Toronto and surrounding areas. Face-to-face interviews were conducted between March 2013 and November 2013. Results: Among the four occupational groups, MBOs appeared to endure the greatest level of emotional demands, while reporting relatively lower levels of job satisfaction and job security; but MBOs reported the greatest job autonomy. The effect of emotional demands on depressive symptoms was greater for MBOs than for professionals. However, an inspection of stress-resource interactions indicated that though MBOs enjoyed the greatest autonomy, the protective effects of job satisfaction and security on the psychological risk of emotional demands appeared to be more pronounced for MBOs than for any of the employee groups. Conclusions: One in two Korean immigrants choose self-employment, most typically in family-owned microbusinesses that involve emotionally taxing dealings with clients and suppliers. However, the benefits of job satisfaction and security may protect MBOs from the adverse mental health effects of job stress.
The purpose of this study was to obtain data on the contribution of job characteristics (work, autonomy, reward, community, fairness, value) towards job burnout (emotional exhaustion, cynicism), job engagement (vigor, dedication, absorption) and turnover intention in school foodservice employees. Typically, 594 school foodservice employees in the Busan area participated in our survey. Workload (${\beta}=-0.512$, p<0.001) had the highest negative influence on emotional exhaustion, whereas reward (${\beta}=-0.216$, p<0.001) and community (${\beta}=-0.214$, p<0.001) had the highest negative influence on cynicism. Community (${\beta}=0.305$, p<0.001) and workload p<0.001) had the highest positive influence on vigor. Community (${\beta}=0.261$, p<0.001) and (${\beta}=0.238$, p<0.001) had the highest positive influence on dedication. (${\beta}=0.287$, p<0.001) and community (${\beta}=0.224$, p<0.001) had the highest positive influence on absorption. Workload (${\beta}=-0.195$, p<0.001) and community (${\beta}=-0.182$, p<0.001) had the highest negative influence on turnover intention. Overall, the results show that job characteristics are very important factors affecting foodservice employee's burnout, engagement, and turnover intention. So should try to reduce the employees' workload and increase the rewards for them along with activating communication among each other.
Empowerment is a multifaceted concept which can be described somewhat differently. In general, it is defined as the motivational concept of autonomy and self-efficacy. Recently, this concept of empowerment is applied to improve organizational staff's job satisfaction and organizational commitment in many organizations. Empowerment in service organizations has certainly generated more publicity than any other organizations. The objective of this study is to measure the degree of hospital administrative staff's empowerment using Spreitzer(1995)'s empowerment theory, and also to analyze the relationship of empowerment and job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Spreitzer argues that the work empowerment is composed of 4 dimensions (meaning, competence, self-determination, and impact) and each dimension influences employee's job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and organizational performance in the end. In order to carry out this study, data were collected by self-administered Questionnaires from 181 hospital administrative staff at 3 university hospitals in Inchon and Kyunggi-Do. The response rate is 86%. The Collected data were analyzed with SPSS statistical package V10.0. The major findings of this study are as follows: First, the degree of hospital administrative staff's empowerment is a high level point at the 7 Likert Scale. Second, the reliability of 3 variables, empowerment, job satisfaction and organizational commitment, was statistically satisfied(Cronbach's alpha>0.80). Third, as a result of correlation analysis, four components of empowerment, job satisfaction and organizational commitment showed a positive relationship. Finally, multiple regression analysis was conducted to find the impact of empowerment on job satisfaction and organizational commitment. In the case of job satisfaction, the meaning and competence factors have a positive effect(P<0.05). And the case of organizational commitment, the meaning and impact components have a positive relation(p<0.05). These results showed that the workplace empowerment is significantly related to employee's job satisfaction and organizational commitment.
Purpose - In order to achieve the organizational objectives, the behavior of the employees and their collaboration with management should be taken into account. It has been shown that strategic behavior depends on a number of different factors. The aim of this article was determining the relationship between factors related to the strategic behavior. Research design, data, and methodology - Accordingly, a conceptual model was developed and tested in the form of a survey. Participants of the study were the employees working in the social Insurance company of Tehran. Data was collected using a questionnaire conducted among managers and the staff. A correlation model was used for data analysis by employing the SPSS software. Results - The findings showed there was a relationship between employees' engagement and the strategic behavior. Conclusions - Our research has demonstrated the effect of employees' engagement on the strategic-driven behavior, emphasizing the role of employees' engagement in health-care service firms. Although previous service research has focused on the factors that drive employees' performance, it seems that most of this research has been inspired by the idea of the service profit chain, focusing on the effect of employees' satisfaction on performance.

The objective of this study is twofold: first, to investigate how organizations encourage factors that have an impact on employees' entrepreneurial behavior from employee's perspectives and experiences; and second, to discover how and why employees behave entrepreneurially within the organization. A case study method is considered as an appropriate approach to scrutinize intrapreneurial behavior because it principally concentrates on an investigation into a contemporary organizational phenomenon and context concerning entrepreneurial activities in-depth within its real situation. In data collection, an Asian multinational retail company was selected. Semi-structured interviews were carried out with 24 executive-level employees who had been working in various departments for more than 5 years. Each in-depth interview lasts for a duration of 40 to 60 minutes. The results reveal several understandings into the combination of individual-level and organizational-level factors that promote the intrapreneurial behavior and activities of the established firm in the context of Thailand. In this regard, six factors have been found as the key determinants that make an impact on innovativeness, proactiveness, and risk-taking behaviour of the employees. Those factors are personal preference, organizational stability, management support, compensation, reward system, teamwork, quality of relationship with colleagues, work autonomy and the quality of relationship with the superiors.
Background: Social status might be a determinant of occupational health inequalities. This study analyzed the effects of social status on both work environments and health outcomes. Methods: The study sample consisted of 27,598 wage employees aged 15 years and older from among the Korean Working Condition Survey participants in 2011. Work environments included atypical work, physical risks, ergonomic risks, work demands, work autonomy, social supports, and job rewards. Health outcomes comprised general health, health and safety at risk because of work, the World Health Organization-5 Well-being Index, work-related musculoskeletal disease, and work-related injury. Multivariable logistic-regression models were used to identify the associations between social status and work environments and health outcomes. Results: Employees in the demographically vulnerable group had lower occupational status compared with their counterparts. Low social status was largely related to adverse work environments. Especially, precarious employment and manual labor occupation were associated with both adverse work environments and poor health outcomes. Conclusion: Precarious and manual workers should take precedence in occupational health equity policies and interventions. Their cumulative vulnerability, which is connected to demographics, occupational status, adverse work environments, or poor health outcomes, can be improved through a multilevel approach such as labor market, organizations, and individual goals.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of organizational effectiveness on organizational culture, leadership perception, and job stress in a special organization called radiologist. As a result, organizational culture and transformational leadership showed high correlation with 0.627. Among the organizational effectiveness variables, organizational commitment showed the highest influence with transformational leadership(${\beta}=0.284$, p<0.001), and job satisfaction was also the highest with transformational leadership (${\beta}=0.440$, p<0.001). The results showed that the expectation of transformational leadership affects organizational commitment and job satisfaction. In order to expect a positive change in the effectiveness of the organization, the radiologist culture requires an organizational culture that can fully demonstrate autonomy and creativity, and transformational leadership is required for this.
