  • In order to prevent the elderly people from committing suicide attempts, it is necessary to verify attributes that affect the suicide attempts. It is noted that previous studies have focused on qualitative approaches, and simple correlation analyses to determine the attributes related to the suicide attempts in the elderly people. However, such previous approaches had led to insufficient performance when facing with complicated data sets. In this sense, this study suggests an alternative method in which attribute selection techniques are adopted to determine more relevant attributes of the suicide attempts occurring in Korean elderly people. To verify empirical validity of our proposed method, we used Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) from January 2007 to December 2012. Empirical results proved that the proposed attribute selection techniques showed better predictive effectiveness; 94.4% compared to the simple statistical methods. This study proposes a way to determining the elderly suicide and preventing it to happen.

  • This research examines how consumer preferences for products are affected by attribute resemblance, which refers to the degree to which a product is similar with other products that are being evaluated together. It is expected that the influence of attribute resemblance on attitude and choice is moderated by attribute familiarity, which is tested in three empirical studies. Studies 1 and 2 examine the effects on the attitude toward the product and show that the positive influence of attribute resemblance on attitude is stronger when attribute are less (vs. more) familiar. Study 3 tests the effects on choice for which attribute resemblance can have a negative influence because of the increase in the competition with similar options. For choice, the attribute resemblance has a positive influence when attributes are less familiar but has a negative influence when attributes are more familiar.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the structural relationship between resort selection attributes, emotional responses, and empirical values of scuba diving participants. The general population who enjoys scuba diving in Korea was selected as the population. Using the convenience sampling method, 553 of the 600 questionnaire samples were extracted as the final valid sample. For data processing, frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, and Cronbach's α test were performed using SPSS 23, and confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation model analysis were performed with AMOS 18. The results are as follows: First, among the sub-factors of selection attributes, equipment, facility environment, and diving point showed a positive effect on emotional response, but staff service did not have any significant effect. Second, the emotional response positively affected by the selection attribute showed a positive effect on all factors of service excellence, consumer utility, fun value, and aesthetic value of empirical value. Therefore, scuba diving resort managers must recognize the importance of equipment, facility environment, and diving point among these selection attributes of customers. And to satisfy the customer needs the resort must accurately identify the needs for diving equipment, facility environment and diving point. Various methods for this should be explored through the needs of the identified customers, and efforts should be made to provide safe equipment, comfortable facilities, and various diving points.

  • Consumers have more choices for apparel products as e-shopping grows. This study examines the importance of apparel product attributes and classifies online apparel buyers into groups based on product attribute evaluation in various choice sets. For the empirical research, the online survey was conducted and Latent Gold Choice 4.0 was used for the choice-based conjoint analysis. Five consumer segments are found based on the choice selection of product attributes. The importance of product attributes (online shopping mall, brand, price, and style) and the preference of each product attribute level were different across segments. This research improves the knowledge of the purchasing behavior of online apparel buyers and provides proper attribute combinations of apparel e-shopping for each consumer segment.
