  • This experimental research explores the effect of low attention of movie audience on the experience of presence, the degree of emotional touch, and memory about movie contents, because of indiscreet use of smart phone. This study measured and analyzed the experience frequency of presence, degree of emotional touch and recognition memory about movie contents by self report survey, after showing 2 subject groups consisting of 83 University students, one with not manipulated attention, the other with manipulated attention, using smart phone intentionally. This research found that the subjects exposed to the movie with not manipulated attention showed more presence experiences, and higher degree of emotional touch than the subjects exposed to the movie with manipulated attention. However meaningful difference of recognition memory was not discovered between the 2 groups. The result of this research can have a meaning because proceeding studies about presence effect of movie mainly dealt with the effect of HDTV, 3D image, stereo sound on the experience of presence, arousal, pleasure of movie audience and it is difficult to find studies about the relation between attention of movie audience and the experience of presence, emotional touch, and memory.

  • The sense of touch has both objective and subjective characteristics. During hand evaluation of the fabrics. psycho physiological processes such as emotion and stimulation. On other site, the mode of touch (passive vs. active) is also capable to modulate somatosensory responses. I.e., suppress somatocensory perception during active electrocortical responses to passive and active touch of the textiles with different subjective emotional preference. The study was carried out on 36 female college students. Physiological signals were acquired by Grass and BIOPAC 100 systems with AcqKnowledge variables, namely heart rate (HR), respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA), pulse transit time (PTT), respiration rate (RSP) and skin conductance parameters (SCL, amplitude, risetime and number of SCRs) were analyzed for baseline and stimulation conditions. Analysis was manifested in a form of moderate HR acceleration. RSP increase, RSA decrease (lowered vagal tone), decreased PTT and increased electrodermal activity (increased SCL, several SCRs) that reflects general sympathetic activation. Parietal EEG effects (on contra-lateral side to stimulated hand)were featured by short-term alpha-blocking, slightly reduced theta, significantly increased delta and enhanced fast beta activity with few variations across stimuli. The main finding of the study was that most and least preferred textures exhibited significant differences in autonomic (HR, RSP, PTT, SCR, and at less extent in RSA and SCL) and electrocortical responses (delta, slow and fast alpha, fast beta relative power). These differences were recorded both in passive and active stimulation modes, thus demonstrating reproducibility of distinction between most and least emotionally preferred tactile stimuli, suggesting influence of psychological factors, such as emotional property of stimulus, on physiological outcome.

  • Purpose: This study aims to explore the relationship between exclusion experiences and tactile sensations in online contexts, moving beyond existing frameworks of social exclusion research. Social exclusion induces psychological and physiological pain similar to physical pain, which can lead to various behavioral responses aimed at overcoming these distressing experiences. This study focuses on the potential of touch to mitigate psychological and physiological pain. Individuals who experience social exclusion feel emotional distress, leading to an increased desire for physical contact, which is expected to influence their responses to positive tactile products. Data and methodology: To validate this, the study examines how individuals who have experienced social exclusion respond to tactile products, such as sweaters, in online environments. Results: The results indicate that participants in the exclusion condition had a higher purchase intention for tactile products compared to those in the control condition, confirming the psychological mechanism of the desire to touch these products. Conclusions: This research is the first to analyze the relationship between social exclusion and tactile products, contributing to the expansion of the field of social exclusion studies. Additionally, it provides practical implications for marketers regarding the exposure of products targeting individuals experiencing social isolation and emotional loneliness.

  • To reduce the leadtime for a new model according to the strict market requirements, automobile manufacturer begins to utilize 3-dimensional CAD based techniques such as DMU(Digital Mock-Up). RP(Rapid Prototyping), VE(Virtual Engineering). But, not so many satisfactory utilities have been introduced to deal with the emotional properties such as embossment on the surface of interior parts and touch from material characteristics in virtual environment. It is required to manufacture prototype parts to verify actual feeling of the passengers in real automobile. This paper suggests a methodology to enhance emotional property via embedding embossment on the surface of prototype car interior trim without deterioration of dimensional accuracy using RIM(Reaction Injection Molding) and vacuum forming method.

  • To interpret the perception that originates from tactile sensibility during people touch and recognize the object surfaces, this study focuses on the development of a friction model that can describe the interaction of a stylus pen sliding over the counter surfaces. In addition, the study includes several other experimental factors such as the pressure, temperature, and topology of surface, which can have an effect on the emotional user experience concerning various surfaces; this research aims to suggest a method to quantitatively evaluate the relation between these experimental parameters and emotional user experience. Accordingly, the objective of research comprises the friction characteristic technology for measurement of fine tribological behavior and a standard to quantify the emotional feedback. Existing panels or input devices that provide interaction feedback about user actions simply operate with a single frequency vibration or sound response. On the contrary, this research investigates various interaction characteristics including friction force, frequency, and surface topology synthetically. Using the developed model, which can explain the relation between the friction parameters and emotional user experience, developers can design their product in order to provide the user with expected emotional sensibility. Consequently, it can contribute to reduce the development cost about sensitivity model.
