Flagship Store Experience of Luxury and SPA Brands -Effect on Store Emotion and Loyalty- (럭셔리와 SPA 플래그십 스토어 체험 -점포 감정 및 충성도에 미치는 효과-)

  • This study estimated a structural model for examining causal relationships among flagship store experiences, store emotion and loyalty, and to compare the structural models between luxury and fast fashion SPA brands. A total of 416 responses were collected from consumers who had experience with a variety of luxury and SPA flagship stores. Findings confirmed that flagship store experience consisted of four factors, such as sensory, affective, intellectual and behavioral experiences. Sensory and behavioral experiences had positive effects on store emotion that influenced loyalty. Affective and cognitive experiences influenced loyalty. All aspects of experiences explained store emotion or loyalty for luxury flagship stores; however, two of experiences (i.e., sensory and affective) were important to determine store emotion or loyalty for SPA flagship stores. The study discussed managerial implications for fashion brands to develop and manage flagship stores.

The Effect of Salesperson's Self Efficacy and Work Overload on Emotional Labor and the Mediating Role of Emotion (판매원의 자기효능감 및 직무과부하가 감정노동에 미치는 영향과 감정의 매개효과)

  • This study investigates i) the effect of salesperson's self efficacy and work overload on emotional labor and ii) the mediating role of emotion. A survey questionnaire is developed and implemented on salespersons working in the fashion retail stores of department stores. The measurement scales are composed of emotional labor, self efficacy, work overload and emotion. A total of 112 responses are analyzed by confirmatory factor analysis and a structural equation model with AMOS18.0. The results are as follows. Firstly, self efficacy has direct effect on both deep acting and surface acting of emotional labor without the mediating effect of emotion. Self efficacy has a positive effect on deep acting. Secondly, work overload has a negative effect on emotion. Job emotion has positive effect on deep acting and it has a negative effect on surface acting. Thirdly, emotion has a significant mediating effect between work overload and emotional labor. Finally, implications for personal management and job design in the fashion retail organizations are suggested.

Psychophysiological Responses Evoked by Fear and Disgust Emotion Using Audiovisual Film Clips in Children (공포와 혐오 정서에 대한 아동의 심리생리반응)

  • The study is to examine the psychophysiological responses evoked by negative emotions(fear and disgust) in children. 47 children(11-13 years old, 23 boys) participated in the study. While the children were experiencing fear or disgust emotion induced by audio-visual film clips, ECG, EDA, PPG and SKT are measured. Emotion assessment scale was used to confirm that emotions elicited by the film clips were significantly noticeable, which was measured self-report. The results turned out to be 100% and 89.4% of appropriate for fear and disgust emotions, respectively. Emotional intensity the children had experienced was rated as 4.05, 4.07 on 1-5 scale based on effectiveness of measurement of fear and disgust emotion. ANS reponses by fear and disgust were significantly between the resting state and emotional state induced. The result obtained from the fear emotion showed significant increases in SCL, NSCR, HR, RSA, RESP and HF. There was a significant difference in SCL and NSCR between the two emotions.

  • Recent research shows that emotion is closely related to memory and learning. Although a growing number of educators have high interest in affective aspects of learning processes and outcomes, there are few studies to investigate systematically instructional strategies and learning environments based on learners' emotion. Despite the efforts to understand the role of emotion and to facilitate positive emotion for meaningful learning in face-to-face and online environments, it is still a challenging issue to measure emotion in a valid and reliable way. To implement emotion-based education, it is essential to overcome the limitation of self-report surveys on emotion, which rely on the memory of learners. The current study surveyed emotion measurement tools, which are recently developed in education and other domains, in terms of self-report, neurophysiology, and behavioral responses. This study also discussed how emotion measurement tools can be used in authentic learning and teaching situations. Particularly, this study focused on cutting-edge technologies that would enable educators to collect and analyze learners' emotion easily in real-world contexts. This study will contribute to the research about the role of emotion in education and the design of adaptive learning environments that consider the change of learners' emotion.

The Effects of Habituation and Sensitization on Psychophysiological Differentiation of Responses to Auditory Stimulation with Automobile Horns

  • Psychoacoustic characteristics of automobile horns play significant role in resulting subjective evaluation and psychphysiological reactions. However, comparison and differentiation of physiological responses to commercially available horns is a complicated task due to the small contrast in technical features of horns and the influence of such processes as habituation on physiological outcome with the increased number of auditory stimulation trials. In a study on 10 college students, there was performed comparative analysis of reactivity of physiological responses mediated by central and autonomic nervous systems in order to identify the role of habituation on decrement of psychophysiological responsivity and assess the ability to differentiate subjectively most and least preferred, as well as most and least appropriate horns according to physiological manifestations. The EEG and autonomic responses to 7 automobile horns were analyzed during 3 blocks of trials, with varying order of stimuli and changed acoustic parameters of horns in each block. Thus, responses were analyzed for totally 21 trials of auditory stimulation. It was shown that electrodermal and cardiovascular responses have different reactivity patterns to repeated stimulation: skin conductance measures habituated, cardiac reactivity showed no signs of habituation, and the vascular response demonstrated sensitization. The temporal EEG exhibited marked habituation of fast beta band power, while alpha-blocking effect did not habituate during the course of experiment. Differentiation of physiological responses of most and least preferred and appropriate horns was possible in our study, however, some cardiovascular reactivity measures differentiated during the entire course of the experiment, while EEG and electrodermal parameters showed significant differences only during first block of trials, and were later affected by the habituation.

Consistency of ANS Responses Induced by Emotions and Emotion-Specific ANS Responses (정서에 의해 유발된 자율신경계 반응의 일관성 및 정서.특정적 자율 신경계 반응 패턴 확인)

  • 정서와 생리반응 (자율신경계 반응) 간의 관계에 관하여 성인을 대상으로 최근가지 많은 연구가 행해져 왔다. 본 연구에서는 동일한 실험참여자를 대상으로 일정 기간 동안 여러 회의 반복실험을 통해 정서(기쁨, 슬픔, 분노, 공포, 혐오)에 따른 자율신경계의 반응의 일관성과 정서별 자율신경계 반응 패턴을 규명하고자 하였다. 본 실험에 앞서 저서를 유발하기 우한 도구인 정서유발자극세트와 정서에 대한 심리반응을 평가하기 위한 정서평가척도가 제작되었다. 정서유발자극세트는 2-4분 정도의 각 정서 장면이 포함된 총 5개의 동영상 장면들이다. 예비실험을 통해 70% 이상의 적합성 및 효과성을 가진 4개의 세트를 추출하여 본 실험에 사용하였다. 본 실험은 남녀 대학생 12명을 대상으로 4회 반복해서 실시되었다. 실험참여자들은 각 정서 장면을 시청 후, 유발된 정서에 대한 심리적인 평가를 하였다. 측정한 자율신경계 생리반응 변수는 ECG, PPG, EDA, SKT이었다. 연구 결과, 심리반응에서 정서유발자극세트는 75% 이상의 적합성 및 효과성을 보였다. 생리반응(ECG, EDA) 분석 결과, 정서에 따른 자율신경계 반응은 회기별로 일관적이었으며, 각 정서별로 특정적인 생리반응 패턴을 가지는 것으로 나타났다.

Children's Understanding of the Effect of Emotion on Moral Transgressions (도덕적 위반 행동의 결과에 대한 아동의 정서 이해)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine developmental trends in children's understanding of the effect of emotion on moral transgressions. The subjects were 120 children, 15 boys and 15 girls each at 4, 6, 8, and 10 years of age. The subjects listened to the moral transgression stories which were revised by this investigator based on Arsenio and Kramer's(1992) study. They reported their emotional attribution, justification, and emotional intensity about the story children engaged in moral transgression. The data of the present study were analyzed by ${\chi}^2$ and 2-way ANOVA for repeated measures. The results showed that (1) most of the children expected victimizers to feel happy. While happy responses decreased with age, fear responses increased with age. Most of the four-year-olds expected victims to feel sad, but 6-, 8-, and 10-year-olds expected anger. (2) Most children justified victimizers' emotions in terms of the outcome produced by victimization. This outcome-focused justification decreased with age, but morality-focused justification increased with age. In contrast, most children justified victims' emotion in terms of the victimization. This victimization-focused justification decreased with age, but morality-focused justification increased with age. (3) Most children viewed physical harm more negatively than theft on the part of victims.

  • The special interest should be paid to the analysis of the influences of positive emotions in terms of their possible effects on the dyanmics of autonomic. recovery after the negative affective stimualtion. Taking into account emotion-specific autonomic response patterning and dissociation of parameters of autonomic arousal during experience of both positive and negative emotional states, this problem seems a challenging one. In present study several autonomic parameters were analyzed altogether, namely inedices of electrodermal activity, heart rate and respitation rate during consecutive combination or both IAPS-based visual affective and auditory stimulation. The aim of the study was analysis of patterns of electrodermal and cardiorespiratory responses during emotional states evoked by negative affective visual stimulation followed by positive or neutral auditory one with intention to identify if the latter is able to facilitate post-stress recovery and enhance restoration of pre-arousal levels. The main orientation was dirdcted towards the further application of experimentally induced comfort emotions for dampening the negative consequences of exposure to stressful stimuli.

Effects of Benefits and Risk Perception on Purchase Intention for Fur Apparel: A Multiple Mediation Model of Consumer Emotions (모피의류의 편익과 위험 지각이 구매의도에 미치는 영향과 소비자 감정의 다중 매개효과)

  • Fur apparel is a representative luxury item that displays wealth and social status; however, it is also recognized as an unethical product criticized for its animal maltreatment in the production process. Understanding consumer responses to an ambivalent object, such as fur apparel, is an important research topic both academically and practically. This study investigates the hierarchical effects of perceived benefits and risks of fur apparel on consumers' emotions and purchase intention by applying the ABC model of attitudes to identify the mediating effects of consumer emotions. An online survey was conducted on 390 female consumers that verified hypotheses through structural equation modeling and bootstrapping analysis using phantom variables. The initial results of the survey showed that the relationship between perceived conspicuous benefits and purchase intention towards fur apparel was partially mediated by positive emotion. Second, the relationship between perceived epistemic benefits and purchase intention was completely mediated by positive emotion. Third, the relationship between perceived ethical risk and purchase intention was completely mediated by positive and negative emotions. Fourth, perceived social risk did not affect the purchase intention of fur apparel significantly. The results support that cognitive beliefs about the subject have a significant positive effect on behavioral intentions through emotions as suggested in the ABC model of the attitude. This study provides an in-depth understanding of consumer responses to ambivalent objects by revealing the individual mediating effects of consumers' positive and negative emotions.

Anterior Cingulate Cortex and Amygdala Dysfunction Among Patients with Alcohol Dependency During Exposure to Negative Emotional Stimuli

  • This study aimed to identify specific psychological and brain activation responses relating to the processing of negative emotions in patients with alcohol dependency. The authors hypothesized that patients with alcohol dependency would demonstrate the abnormal functioning of brain regions involved in negative emotions. Eleven male patients diagnosed with alcohol dependence in an inpatient alcohol treatment facility and 13 social drinkers with similar demographics were scanned using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) as they viewed film clips that evoked negative emotions. During exposure to negative emotional stimuli, the control group evinced significantly greater activity in the right anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) in comparison to patients with alcohol dependency. Correlation analyses demonstrated a negative association in the relationship between beta values from the right ACC and amygdala in participants classified in the control group. No statistically significant relationship was observed for blood oxygenation level-dependent (BOLD) changes between the two regions in the patient group during the elicitation of negative emotions. On the other hand, patients exhibited a greater activation of the amygdala as negative emotions were induced. These results suggest that alcoholism presents pathophysiology of brain activation that is distinct from the responses of healthy individuals functioning as controls.
