In the era of tough competition, the customer's emotional attachment to brand plays a vital role to the successes and failures of enterprises. Specifically in the case of doing business online, brands have to cope with the troubles of rising from brand hate as brand avoidance, negative word of mouth and brand retaliation. Traditionally, the brand communication is very hard to control and with online communities, the problems tend to be even more severe. This paper aims to explore and discuss the core concept, the driven factors and the actionable consequences of brand hate among netizens. A total of 358 valid responses were obtained from surveys taken from the internet users across the nation. Partial Least Square - Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was conducted using Smart PLS to assess the hypotheses. The result shows that the expression of brand hate among netizen consists of active hate and passive hate. Deficit value, deceptive advertising, negative past experience and ideology incompatibility have been confirmed as influencing factors on customers' brand hate emotion. Then brand hate itself causes the customer's actionable outcomes such as brand avoidance, brand negative word of mouth and brand retaliation. Along with the theoretical contributions and managerial implications have been recommended for enterprises to avoid netizens' brand hate.
This study investigates an association among Facebook users' upward comparison (e.g., envy), social support (e.g., favorable comments and like), and life satisfaction, putting their self-esteem as a mediating variable. For this analysis, 1,332 female and male Facebook users in Seoul and other four cities in South Korea were surveyed. Structural equation modeling including confirmative factor analysis were employed as quantitative analysis methods. Results show that Facebook users' upward comparison with other users and social support significantly impact their satisfaction mediated by their self-esteem. Specifically, when users feel envious of other users, this emotion lowers their self-esteem, and subsequently, the self-esteem reduces their satisfaction. On the other hand, sufficient social support for users positively affects their self-esteem, which leads to the increase of their satisfaction. The present study is differentiated from previous studies in that it focuses on Facebook users' emotional changes in the process of sharing massive amounts of posts and finds a stepwise relationship among their feelings, including self-esteem as a mediating variable. Additionally, this study is the first to verify a situation when Facebook users' envy of other users' posts affects the decline in their satisfaction through the mediation of their self-esteem.
Based on existing research, the psychological state of Chinese students has become a very significant issue that needs to be resolved. In addition to paying attention to the daily life and study of Chinese students, the psychological problems of Chinese students are also worthy of attention. At the same time, if the existing psychological problems are not resolved in time, serious consequences may result. Based on the ART(Attention Restoration Theory) theory, this article uses VR (Virtual Reality) content as a medium, uses 3D modeling software to build a healing scene that helps Chinese students improve their psychological and emotional state, and presents it in a VR device. To achieve the purpose of improving the psychological and emotional state of Chinese students. According to experimental tests, the VR recovery scene constructed by this method can help improve the psychological mood of Chinese international students who already have subliminal depression. The results of independent sample T-tests after data analysis experiments show that after the intervention of the experiment, the depression of the experimental group is significantly improved compared to the control group. It is proved that the method in this study is effective for the mentality and emotion of Chinese international students who have subliminal depression. There is a significant improvement effect.
Globalizing the Japanese fashion successfully, Hanae Mori's work awoke the western fashion world's nostalgia towards the East. Analyzing the aesthetic characteristics of Hanae Mori's clothes what kinds of aesthetic characteristic that her work had and what kinds of influences that she made in the modern fashion would provide substantial contribution of the world's modern fashion. This study provided forms and remarkable features of Japanese traditional custom, revealed Hanae Mori's life and her philosophies of fashion, and defined Hanae Mori's aesthetic characteristics by analyzing her work from 1970's until the retirement, July 2004. Methods of this study are completed by documentary records of Hanae Mori, research papers and fashion magazines that are published domestically and internationally, and collected materials from internet. The results of analysis are epitomized as below. Hanae Mori was the first Japanese fashion designer who expressed the characteristics of traditional Japanese custom with modernity sprit. In the 60's and 70's, especially in the U.S. and European fashion market, she inspired western fashion designers by her original sprit of art: combining Japanese tradition which showed distinctive color and spirit of nature and the western beauty. Hanae Mori created new dress molding from the Kimono's unstructured feature. Her layered look dressing, oblique adjustment and Obi, and others all enabled Mori to express Japanese image into modern fashion. Additionally, in terms of traditional Japanese image being acknowledged world-widely, she played a major contribution in world fashion by suggesting a new vision and raised several sensations in fashion artistry and modeling. Amongst her various patterns, Hanae Mori had butterfly patterns in most of her works, which was her representative symbol. This spoke for her strong will and senses of duty that wanting to inform beauty of Japanese women who were reflected in modern and graceful butterfly patterns. Flowers were another element that symbolized Mori. Using various flower motifs that bloomed in every different four seasons, she connected two images into her fashion; beauty of the nature and enlightening image of vibrating life. The aesthetic characteristics of Hanae Mori's clothes were defined as five: Japonism, naturalism, feminism, eroticism, and modernism. Japonism which is the spirit of Japanese, Mori used the concept to connect the East and the West. Naturalism represented harmony of the nature and the human. Feminism highlighted Eastern women's beauty. Eroticism emitted feminine attraction. Modernism represented simplicity and sophistication. Such aesthetic character illustrated Mori's original emotion that was based on Japanese spirit and she combined it with values of the East and the West. From the analysis of Mori's aesthetic characteristics, it is clearly recognizable her feministic beauty is emanated by her original emotion and sensibility.
This research takes a user-centered approach to define relevance, the core concept in information retrieval. The literature on relevance has identified numerous factors affecting such a judgment. We examined the model of user relevance judgment that describes the relationship between user relevance criteria and different types of relevance with information search task. We consider 7 criteria of user relevance-topicality, novelty, reliability, understandability, specificity, richness, and interest-and 3 type of user relevance-cognitive relevance, situational relevance, and affective relevance. Data were collected from a semi-controlled survey and analyzed by a structural equation modeling. As a result, topicality and reliability were found to be the essential relevance criteria in all information retrieval tasks. In the fact search task, topicality, reliability, novelty, richness, and interest were found to be significant. In the problem solving search task, topicality, reliability, understandability, and specificity were found to be significant. In the decision making search task, topicality, reliability, novelty, understandability, richness, specificity, and interest were found to be significant. In addition, the relationships between types of user relevance were determined. This research made theoretical and practical contributions to the field of information retrieval by identifying a definite model of user relevance judgment.
This study investigated the differential effects of childhood trauma, especially neglect, emotional abuse, and physical abuse on stress perception in relation to the ToM (theory of mind), among one-hundred and fifty five college students. For this purpose, self-reported childhood neglect, emotional abuse, physical abuse, and stress levels during the previous week were measured. Social cognition was measured using a ToM questionnaire which asked respondents to guess the intentions of the person in each vignette by providing additional hints. In order to examine the predicting role of childhood trauma and mediating role of ToM, two distinct structural models assuming full (Model 1) and partial (Model 2) mediational effects were compared using structural equation modeling. The partial mediational model was supported and the main results were as follows. First, childhood neglect indirectly predicted stress perception through the effect of the ToM. Second, childhood emotional abuse directly predicted stress perception. Third, childhood physical abuse had no distinct effect on stress perception. Finally, the limitations of this study and the implications for future studies are discussed.
Health care service's added value and sustainability has been formed, through the product developing about sports equipment and special equipment for disabled in order to improve the life quality, with the increasing population of elderly and the attention about health care. This research's design and 3 testing sections has been done according to design process for design development of functional bike. 1st test is done through researching from 4 aspects: structure, aesthetic, function and using. In the 2nd testing, 10 universal design items were used to evaluate 10 modeling samples, and sample F which has high evaluation overall was chosen. In 3rd test, evaluation was done from the user service scene about the mock-up with 1/4 scale size. PPP (product performance program) which is constructed with 60 evaluation items about functional bike's service was tested, and these items were fixed through discussing with experts. Through the result we knew the aesthetic elements had relationship with proportion, unity and typicality. In 10 items (55 survey items), the scores of items with physical exposure's minimization, simple and intuitively usage showed high, on the contrary, the other items' scores was very low, such as information delivery's consideration and thought, failure preventing. The evaluation will be done once more by health care experts, designers and elderly together if the physical model could be made for getting accurate measurement about above test result in the future.
The purpose of this study was to explain the attitudes and acceptance toward the smart clothing adopted by the TAM(Technology Acceptance Model). A theoretical model on consumer acceptance of the commercialized smart clothing was constructed on the basis of previous studies and a review of literature and tested the path analysis. For the data analysis, statistical methods of confirmatory factor analysis, correlation, and covariance structural analysis using AMOS 5.0 package were employed. The results from a web-based survey of 557 online consumers indicate that the TAM by Davis(1989) adopted by perceived value according to market price was able to explain consumer acceptance of smart clothing substantially well. Using structural equation modeling, eight of the six hypotheses investigated in this study were supported. The results of the testing of the hypothesis were as fellows: First, perceived ease of use had a side effect on attitude through perceived usefulness. In addition, the attitude was found to affect consumer acceptance. Second, perceived usefulness was found to affect consumer attitude on perceived value, however, had not significant effect on consumer acceptance toward smart clothing. Third, perceived value was found to affect both consumer acceptance and attitude toward smart clothing. Finally, the attitude toward smart clothing had a direct effect on the consumer acceptance.
Social problems, such as economic instability, aging population, heightened competition, and changes in personal values, might become more serious in the near future. Affective computing has received much attention in the scholarly community as a possible solution to potential social problems. Accordingly, we examined domestic and global knowledge structure, major keywords, current research status, international research collaboration, and network for each major keyword, focusing on keywords related to affective computing. We searched for articles on a specialized academic database (Scopus) using major keywords and carried out bibliometric and network analyses. We found that China and the United States (U.S.) have been active in producing knowledge on affective computing, whereas South Korea lags well behind at around 10%. Major keywords surrounding affective computing include computing, processing, affective analysis, research, user modeling categorizing recognitions, and psychological analysis. In terms of international research collaboration structure, China and the U.S. form the largest cluster, whereas other countries like the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, and Canada have been strong collaborators as well. Contrastingly, South Korea's research has not been diverse and has not been very successful in producing research outcomes. For the advancement of affective computing research in South Korea, the present study suggests strengthening international collaboration with major countries, including the U.S. and China and diversifying its research partners.
This study tried to understand the structural relationship of consumer characteristics on consumer emotions and satisfaction in online shopping. First, consumer characteristics derived various tendencies through previous studies. Next, consumer emotion was defined as positive and negative emotions in the six purchasing processes from information search to use, and satisfaction was defined as the overall satisfaction of the purchasing experience. To this end, this study measured consumer satisfaction and positive/negative emotions in the six consumption processes in their 20s and 40s with online clothing shopping experience within the last month. Finally, structural equation modeling(SEM) was conducted. As a result, the model fit was good, and impulse purchase tendency, conspicuous consumption tendency, innovation tendency, and trendy shopping tendency only affected negative emotions. On the other hand, it was confirmed that information search tendency, hedonic shopping tendency, and economic shopping tendency directly affect positive emotions and indirectly affect consumer satisfaction. Through this, implications for improving the consumer experience in online shopping were presented by identifying consumer characteristics and enhancing consumer emotions.
