  • The compressor has one of important roles in refrigeration cycle and it determines refrigeration efficiency and quality This paper aims to monitor rotary compressors for room air conditioners by using Acoustic Emission(AE) technique. The reliability of rotary compressors has been evaluated through visual inspection on them after long term test. This paper describes methods for acquisition and processing AE raw signal to monitor the state of rotary compressor. A detecting method of abnormal compressor in real time is suggested and special-purpose monitoring system which can be applied to automatic manufacturing line is developed using one-chip microprocessor at low cost.

  • Two novel antenna complexes of $Eu^{III}$ with 1-naphthoic acid (NA) as primary ligand and two aromatic N-donor ligands namely N-hexyl-N-(pyridin-2-yl) pyridin-2-amine (1) and 4-((dipyridin-2-ylamino)methyl)benzoic acid (2) have been synthesized and characterized by various spectroscopic techniques. The room-temperature (298 K) photoluminescence spectrum of $Eu^{III}$ complexes composed of typical line like emissions, assigned to transitions between the first excited state $^5D_0$ to the $^7F_J$ (J = 0-4), resulting in red emission along with the residual emission from the 1-naphthoic acid moiety in the blue region. The determined CIE color coordinate value for the complex 2 is (x = 0.36, y = 0.34), which is in white region.

  • As laser cutting process is widely used in industry, an automated on-line process control system has become very important. In this paper, development of a laser cutting monitoring system, which is regarded as the fundamental step toward automation of the process, is presented. Acoustic emission and an artificial neural network were used for the monitoring system. With given process Parameters including laser power and scanning speed the system can predict the suitability of laser beam for the cutting or a stainless steel (STS304) plate.

  • To detect the failures in machine, the signals of current, vibration and acoustic emission are widely used in industry. And unexpected failures of gears are not only extremely damaging but also lead to economic losses. In this paper, to detect the misalignment occurred at between two gears in gearboxes, the signals of current, vibration and AE were measured at gearbox and motor power line. FFT(Fast Fourier Transform) was used for current and vibration signal analysis to find gear failure frequency. Especially, the envelop analysis and wavelet transform were applied for AE signal. Therefore, compared with the results of three kinds of signal, the possibility of earily detection by AE is identified or checked.

  • In this study, the friction welding experiment was performed by using the design of experiment. And the signal data acquired by acoustic emission sensor were analyzed to predict the tensile strength of friction welding part at friction welding process for AZ31 magnesium alloy. A dimensionless coefficient($\phi_{AE}$), which consisted in the square of AE rms and variance, was defined as the characteristic of friction welding and the prediction equation was obtained by using linear regression. As the result of analysis, it was seen that the correlation between predicted and measured values became very close and on-line prediction of the ensile strength was possible in friction welding part.

  • Monitoring of plasma etch processes for fault detection is one of the hallmark procedures in semiconductor manufacturing. Optical emission spectroscopy (OES) has been considered as a gold standard for modeling plasma etching processes for on-line diagnosis and monitoring. However, statistical quantitative methods for processing the OES data are still lacking. There is an urgent need for a statistical quantitative method to deal with high-dimensional OES data for improving the quality of etched wafers. Therefore, we propose a robust relevance vector machine (RRVM) for regression with statistical quantitative features for modeling etch rate and uniformity in plasma etch processes by using OES data. For effectively dealing with the OES data complexity, we identify seven statistical features for extraction from raw OES data by reducing the data dimensionality. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach is more suitable for high-accuracy monitoring of plasma etch responses obtained from OES.

  • A field emission electron gun including 3 electrodes including one cathode and two anodes is very important for high resolution electron microscope. To have functions to control the initially-emitted electron beam, two anodes act as an electrostatic lens according to equipotential lines by adjusting the spot size, intensity, and working distance. To verify the action of the electron beam by the electrostatic lens by changing several parameters such as electrode shape, displacement and applied voltage to the electrodes, the two lenses were design and simulated and then their performances were analyzed with angular beam intensity(distribution), electrical optic axis variation and their stability.

  • P-Cygni type Ly$\alpha$ from starburst galaxies, either nearby galaxies or Lyman Break galaxies, are believed to be formed by galactic outflows such as galactic supershells or galactic superwinds. We develope a Monte Carlo code to calculate the Ly$\alpha$ line transfer in a galactic supershell which is expanding and formed of uniform and dusty neutral hydrogen gas. The escape of Ly$\alpha$ photons from the system is achieved by a number of back-scatterings. A series of emission peaks are formed by back-scatterings. When we observe P-Cygni type Ly$\alpha$ emissions of starforming galaxies, we can usually see merely singly-peaked emission. Hence the secondary and the tertiary emission humps should be destroyed. In order to do this, dust should be spatially more extended into the inner cavity than neutral supershell. We find that the kinematic information of the expanding supershell is conserved even in dusty media. We discuss the astrophysical applications of our results.

  • We have carried out integral field unit (IFU) spectroscopy of $H{\alpha}$, [$N{\small{II}}$] and [$O{\small{III}}$] emission lines for a sample of Galactic planetary nebulae (PNe) with Wolf-Rayet (WR) stars and weak emission-line stars (wels). Comparing their spatially-resolved kinematic observations with morpho-kinematic models allowed us to disentangle their three-dimensional gaseous structures. Our results indicate that these PNe have axisymmetric morphologies, either bipolar or elliptical. In many cases the associated kinematic maps for the PNe around hot central stars also reveal the presence of so-called fast low-ionization emission regions.
