플라즈마 삽입전극의 전류에 미치는 밀도 구배의 영향 (Influence of the Density Gradient on the Current of the Electrode Immersed in the Non-uniform Plasma)

  • The conducting current of non-uniform plasma immersed electrode consists of ion current and secondary electron emission current caused by the impinging ion current. The ion current is determined by the ion dose passing through the sheath in front of electrode and the ion distribution in front of the electrode plays an important role in the secondary electron emission. The investigation of the distributed plasma and secondary electron effect on electrode ion current was carried out as the stainless steel electrode plugged with quartz tube was immersed in the inductively coupled Ar plasma using the antenna powered by 1 kw and the density profile was measured. After that, the negative voltage was applied by 1 kV~6 kV to measure the conduction current for the analysis of ion current.

Effects of Neon Plasma Emission on Optical Properties of Phosphor Layers in Surface-Type Alternate Current Plasma Display Panel

  • This study uses neon and xenon gas mixture discharges to determine the effects of the neon plasma emission on the characteristics of visible emission from the stimulation of the red, green, blue(RGB) phosphor layers in a surface-type alternate current plasma display panel(AC PDP). With a mixture of less than 2% xenon to neon, it is found that the luminance changes in the visible emission of the phosphor layers are similar to those of the neon plasma emission. In the range of xenon mix ratio from 2 to 5%, the luminance of the red, green, blue(RGB) phosphor layers decreases with a decrease in the neon plasma emission intensity. However, with a mixture of above 5% xenon to neon, the luminance of the red, green, blue(RGB) phosphor layers increases regardless of a decrease in the neon plasma emission intensity. Furthermore, the color purity of the red, green, blue(RGB) phosphor layers improve as the neon plasma emission intensity decreases. Accordingly, it is concluded that the optical properties of the phosphor layers, including color purity and luminance, depend on the neon plasma discharge emission as well as the visible emission from the stimulation of the phosphor layers.

  • To detect the failures in machine, the signals of current, vibration and acoustic emission are widely used in industry. And unexpected failures of gears are not only extremely damaging but also lead to economic losses. In this paper, to detect the misalignment occurred at between two gears in gearboxes, the signals of current, vibration and AE were measured at gearbox and motor power line. FFT(Fast Fourier Transform) was used for current and vibration signal analysis to find gear failure frequency. Especially, the envelop analysis and wavelet transform were applied for AE signal. Therefore, compared with the results of three kinds of signal, the possibility of earily detection by AE is identified or checked.

  • We studied the effect of current-aging on field emission from carbon nanotubes field emitter arrays (CNT-FEAs) selectively patterned by the resist-assistan tpatterning(RAP) process. After sustaining the electric field when starting emission current density $(J_s)$ is $0.1\;mA/cm^2$ during 40 hrs, it was observed that the field emission property and uniformity were remarkably improved due to the elimination of oxygen atom and thus the reconstruction of carbon bonding at the tip of CNTs during field emission.

탄소나노튜브 캐소드의 전계방출 특성에 미치는 재열처리의 영향 (Effect of Post-Heat Treatment on Field Emission Properties for Carbon Nanotube Cathodes)

  • For the application of field emission display (FED), it is essential to develop a carbon nanotube (CNT) cathode with high emission current density. In this study, we developed and demonstrated a post-heat treatment (PHT) process to improve field emission properties of CNT cathodes. Since the PHT is intended to burn out organic materials covering the CNTs, the PHT was carried out by heating samples at a high temperature in an atmosphere. The PHT process is applied for samples processed by surface treatment with an adhesive tape. Compared to samples prior to the PHT, samples after the PHT at $360^{\circ}C$ showed about 17% improvement in emission current density. The major reason for the increased current density is mainly the increased aspect ratio of the CNTs because of the removal of the adhesive organic residues covering the CNTs, which were attached on the CNT surfaces during the surface treatment using the adhesive taping method.

  • We establish a visible light emission from porous polycrystalline silicon nano structure(PPNS). The PPNS layer are formed on heavily doped n-type Si substrate. 2um thickness of undoped polycrystalline silicon deposited using LPCVD (Low Pressure Chemical Vapor Deposition) anodized in a HF: ethanol(=1:1) as functions of anodizing conditions. And then a PPNS layer thermally oxidized for 1 hr at $900 ^{\circ}C$. Subsequently, thin metal Au as a top electrode deposited onto the PPNS surface by E-beam evaporator and, in order to establish ohmic contact, an thermally evaporated Al was deposited on the back side of a Si-substrate. When the top electrode biased at +6V, the electron emission observed in a PPNS which caused by field-induces electron emission through the top metal. Among the PPNSs as functions of anodization conditions, the PPNS anodized at a current density of $10mA/cm^2$ for 20 sec has a lower turn-on voltage and a higher emission current. Furthermore, the behavior of electron emission is uniformly maintained.

다층구조 유사다이아몬드 박막의 전계방출 특성연구 (Field Emission characteristics of Multi-layered Diamond-Like carbon films)

  • We have studied the field emission characteristics of multi-layered diamond-like-carbon (DLC) films deposited by vertical electrodes type plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition with CH$_4$ and H$_2$ mixture. We deposited a thin layer of DLC on the p$^{+}$-Si substrate and then turned off plasma before another deposition of a new DLC layer. The thickness and the number of DLC layers are varied. The emission characteristics of multi-layered DLC films were compared with conventional one. The multi-layered DLC film shows higher emission current than conventional one.e.

Emission test of a domestic fabricated cathode with higher current density

  • The emission test a domestic fabricated cathode is conducted using an easy-replaceable-emitter-type test bench. A simple cylindrical button type cathode is dropped vertically into a cathode cup holder. The cathode is heated by a tungsten wire heater located around the cup holder. The cathode temperature is measured by an optical pyrometer. A high voltage pulse power supply gives the anode-cathode gap voltage up to 20 kV with the pulse width of 15 us. The emitted current from the cathode is captured at a faraday cup and is measured using current transformer and oscilloscope. The test bench is installed in the vacuum chamber with easy access door and, therefore, the cathode can be easily replaceable. We confirmed the emission current density of $15A/cm^2$ and $80A/cm^2$ with a domestic fabricated B-type cathode and a Scandate cathode, respectively. The detailed test result for the cathode will be presented.

부품배치에 따른 DC/DC 컨버터의 Emission 특성분석 (Analysis of Emission Characteristics of DC/DC Converter by Component Placement)

  • 전자 시스템이 소형화, 이동성의 요구에 따라 전력 변환의 필요성이 계속 증가하고 있다. 또한 전력 변환에는 전력 효율과 함께 전력 변환시스템의 소형화를 위해 적용하는 스위칭에 의한 잡음으로부터 시스템 안정성이 보장되어야 한다. 따라서 전력 변환시 스위칭 잡음을 감소시킬 수 있는 대책이 필수적이다. 본 논문에서는 DC/DC Buck Converter회로를 구성하였고, reference plane을 갖는 4층 PCB 회로 구조에서 부품의 배치를 변경할 경우 발생하는 스위칭 잡음특성을 비교 분석하였다. 또한, Reference Plane을 제거한 양면 PCB회로 구조에서 부품 배치를 달리하였을 경우 스위칭 잡음 특성을 각각 시뮬레이션으로 비교 분석하였다. 그 결과 4층 PCB회로 구조에서는 Current return path에 따라 Radiated Emission 특성이 12dB, Conducted Emission 특성이 7~8dB 감소됨을 확인하였다. 또한 양면 PCB회로 구조에서는 Conducted Emission이 20~25dB 감소됨을 확인하였다. 이로써 전력 변환 회로를 설계할 경우 Current return path의 구성에 따라 잡음 특성을 향상시킬 수 있음을 확인하였다.

Pressure Measurement Using Field Electron Emission Phenomena

  • Adsorption of residual gas molecules damped the emission current of a W (310) field electron emission (FE) emitter. The damping speed was linearly proportional to the pressure gauge readings at pressure ranging from ${\sim}10^{-8}Pa$ to ${\sim}10^{-9}Pa$, and the proportionality constant was employed to measure pressure in the $10^{-10}Pa$ range. A time plot of FE current revealed the existence of an "initial stable region" after the flash heating of W(310) FE, during which the FE current damps very slowly. The presence of non-hydrogen gas removed this region from the plot, supplying a means of qualitatively analysing the gas species.
