Design and Performances of Implantable CPW Fed Apollian Shaped Antenna at 2.45 GHz ISM Band for Biomedical Applications

  • A novel implantable CPW fed Apollian shaped antenna embedded into human tissue is proposed for ISM band biomedical applications. The proposed antenna is made compatible for implantation by embedding it in an alumina ceramic substrate(εr=9.8 and thickness= 0.65 mm). The proposed antenna covers the ISM band of 2.45 GHz. The radiation parameters such as return loss, xy-plane, xz-plane, and yz-plane etc., are measured and analyzed using the agilent vector network analyzer. The proposed antenna has substantial advantages, including low profile, miniaturization ability, lower return loss, better impedance matching, and high gain over conventional implanted antennas.

  • The present study aims to design electrically and structurally effective antenna structures in order that the structural surface itself could become the antenna. The basic design concept is composite sandwich structure in which microstrip antenna is embedded and this is termed composite smart structure (CSS). The most important outstanding problem is that composite materials of structural function cannot be used without reducing antenna efficiency. Unfortunately, such materials have high electrical loss. This is a significant design problem that needs to be solved in practical applications. Therefore, the effects of composites facesheet on antenna performances are investigated in the first stage and changes in the gain of microstrip antenna due to composites facesheet have been determined. ‘Open condition’ is defined when gain is maximized and is a significant new concept for the design of high-gain antennas considering bandwidth in practical application. The open condition can be made with the outer facesheet by controlling its position. In the design of CSS, glass/epoxy composites and Nomex honeycomb were used with exploiting open condition. Experiments, confirm that the gain is improved and the bandwidth is also as wide as specified in our requirements. With the open condition, wideband antenna can be integrated with mechanical structures without reducing any electrical performances, as confirmed experimentally here.

  • 본 논문에서는 지상파 디지털 TV(DTV) 방송 수신용 광대역 평면 안테나 설계방법에 대해 연구하였다. 제안된 구조는 직사각형 도체 패치 내부에 t자형 비대칭 슬릿을 삽입하여 평면 다이폴을 구성한 것이고 안테나 형상은 FR4 기판의 한 면에 인쇄된다. 여러 가지 파라미터 값들이 안테나의 특성에 미치는 영향을 관찰하고 DTV 대역(470-806 MHz)에서의 동작에 적합하도록 조정하였다. FR4 기판에 $260mm{\times}30mm$ 크기로 제작된 안테나의 특성을 실험하여 연구결과의 타당성을 검증하였다.

밀리미터파 SoP 응용을 위해 광대역 수직천이를 집적한 초소형 LTCC 팻치안테나 (Compact LTCC Patch Antenna Integrating a Wideband Vertical Transition for millimeter-wave SoP Applications)

  • In this work, a compact patch antenna based on a low temperature cofired ceramic (LTCC) has been presented for V-band system-on-package (SoP) applications. In order to integrate it with transceiver block, a waveguide (W/G) to embedded microstrip line (eMSL) vertical transition was designed using slot-fed double stacked patch antennas for easy assembly and wide bandwidth. The $2{\times}2$ patch antenna integrating the transition was designed and fabricated in the 5-layer LTCC dielectrics. The whole size of the fabricated antenna including the $2{\times}2$ patches, transition and W/G was $20{\times}24{\times}5.39mm^3$. The fabricated antenna has achieved a 10 dB impedance bandwidth of 2.45 GHz from 61 to 63.45 GHz.

  • In this paper, we present the development of an antenna specialized for the maritime collision avoidance system. This antenna is configured as the dielectric rod partially embedded in the metal cavity to reduce the overall size, simultaneously assuring the mechanical sturdiness against the challenging oceanic weather conditions. More importantly, the design has been carefully done to meet the requirements on the radiation pattern(with the slope < 5 dB/deg in the elevation(E-plane), circular in the azimuth) suitable to receiving the reflected signals from the other objects on the sea. To find the optimal design parameters, the genetic algorithm has been used to meet the goals of the desired return loss and pattern. This design methodology is validated by the good agreement between the calculation and measurement.

  • This paper presents a WLAN band active monopole antenna which is made of a CPW-fed monopole antenna and a low noise amplifier implemented on single-layer low-temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) substrate. Planar active antenna measure return loss and power test. (drain voltage = 4V, gate voltage = -0.6V). The bandwidth, is 540MHz, return loss is -38dB.

  • 마이크로스트림 안테나는 가볍고 부피가 작을 뿐만 아니라 집적화가 가능하고, 표면 부착력이 탁월하여 많은 통신 시스템 안테나로 응용되고 있다. 안테나의 구조는 12.5GHz의 중심주파수를 갖는 사각 패치 마이크로 스트립 안테나로 설계하였고 곡률 방향으로 패치를 확장시켜 총 4개의 패치를 배열시켰다. 양쪽의 복합재료 사이에 허니컴을 삽입한 샌드위치 구조물이 되도록 설계한 다음 충격 실험을 실시하였다. 충격실험 후 안테나 성능변화를 측정한 결과 영향을 받지 않는다는 것을 확인하였다.

단말기 T-DMB용 안테나로 사용될 수 있는 Open Stub를 가지는 소형 Two-Wire Helical 안테나 (A Compact Two-Wire Helical Antenna with an Open Stub for a T-DMB Antenna of Mobile Devices)

  • 본 논문에서는 모바일 장치의 T-DMB 안테나로 사용될 수 있는 급전 반대편에 open stub를 가지는 소형 two-wire helical 안테나를 제안하였다. Open stub의 길이를 조절하거나 open stub에 유전 물질을 발라 T-DMB 대역인 200 MHz에서 높이가 8 cm(200 MHz에서 0.053 $\lambda$임)인 안테나의 입력 임피던스를 쉽게 매칭시킬 수 있다. 이 안테나의 unbalanced 모드와 balanced 모드의 등가 회로를 이용하여 이 안테나의 등가 회로를 나타내고, 동작 원리를 설명하였다. 등가 회로의 해석을 토대로 open stub의 영향을 검증했다. 몇 가지 다른 파라미터 값을 가지는 안테나를 제작하였으며, 이 안테나의 $S_{11}$$S_{21}$을 측정하였다. 제작된 안테나의 임력 임피던스 대역폭($S_{11}{\leq}-10dB$)은 $196{\sim}204$ MHz(8 MHz)로 T-DMB의 한 채널(6 MHz)을 만족한다. 이 안테나의 측정된 $S_{21}$은 -38.6 dB로 동일한 높이의 모노폴 안테나와 open stub를 가지지 않은 two-wire helical 안테나의 $S_{21}$보다 약 17 dB 높다.
