Recent some SoC FPGA Releases that integrate ARM processor and FPGA fabric show better performance compared to the ASIC SoC used in typical embedded image processing system. In this study, using the above advantages, we implement a SoC FPGA-based Real-Time Object Recognition and Tracking System. In our system, the video input and output, image preprocessing process, and background subtraction processing were implemented in FPGA logics. And the object recognition and tracking processes were implemented in ARM processor-based programs. Our system provides the processing performance of 5.3 fps for the SVGA video input. This is about 79 times faster processing power than software approach based on the Nios II Soft-core processor, and about 4 times faster than approach based the HPS processor. Consequently, if the object recognition and tracking system takes a design structure combined with the FPGA logic and HPS processor-based processes of recent SoC FPGA Releases, then the real-time processing is possible because the processing speed is improved than the system that be handled only by the software approach.
With the progress of information-oriented society, many device with advanced technologies invented by many companies. However, the current firmware technologies have many problems to meet such high level of new Technologies, Recently it become necessary new manufactures of information-oriented society to require such embedded operating system as their system-level platform. Embedded linux, which could be on alternative proposal of existing high-cost embedded operating system, become available commercially by many companies Linux has many programs, But, embedded databases require very high cost. In this paper, we suggest ERT DE which has a small size and is suitable for embedded real-time technologies.
PICARD (Port-Interface Component Architecture for Real-time system Design) is a software architecture and environment, which is aimed to reduce development time and cost of real-time, control system. With PICARD, a control engineer can construct a control system software by assembling pre-built software components us ing interact ive graphical development environment. PICARD consists of PVM(Picard Virtual Machine) , a component library, and PICE(PIcard Configuration Editor). PVM is a real-time engine of the PICARD system which runs control tasks on a real-time operating system. The component library is composed of components which are called task blocks. PICE is a visual editor which can configure control tasks by creating data-flow diagrams of task blocks or Ladder diagrams for sequential logics. For the communication between PVM on a target system and PICE on a host computer, a simple protocol and tools for stub generation was dove]oped because RPC or CORBA is difficult to be applied for the embedded system. New features such as a byte-code based run time system and a simple and easy MMI builder are also introduced.
The ubiquitous flexible operating system (UbiFOS) is a real-time operating system designed for cost-conscious, low-power, small to medium-sized embedded systems such as cellular phones, MP3 players, and wearable computers. It offers efficient real-time operating system services like multi-task scheduling, memory management, inter-task communication and synchronization, and timers while keeping the kernel size to just a few to tens of kilobytes. For flexibility, UbiFOS uses various task scheduling policies such as cyclic time-slice (round-robin), priority-based preemption with round-robin, priority-based preemptive, and bitmap. When there are less than 64 tasks, bitmap scheduling is the best policy. The scheduling overhead is under 9 ${\mu}s$ on the ARM926EJ processor. UbiFOS also provides the flexibility for user to select from several inter-task communication techniques according to their applications. We ported UbiFOS on the ARM9-based DVD player (20 kB), the Calm16-based MP3 player (under 7 kB), and the ATmega128-based ubiquitous sensor node (under 6 kB). Also, we adopted the dynamic power management (DPM) scheme. Comparative experimental results show that UbiFOS could save energy up to 30% using DPM.

In this paper, we propose an implementation of a real-time operating system for the two-wheel mobile robot. With this implementation, we have the ability to control the complex embedded systems of the two-wheel mobile robot. The advantage of the real-time operating system is increasing the reliability and stability of the two-wheel mobile robot when they work in critical environments such as military and industrial applications. The real-time operating system which was ported to this implementation is open systems and the corresponding interfaces for automotive electronics (OSEK/VDX). It is known as the set of specifications on automotive operating systems, published by a consortium founded by the automotive industry. The mechanical design and kinematics of the two-wheel mobile robot are described in this paper. The contributions of this paper suggest a method for adapting and porting OSEK/VDX real-time operating system to the two-wheel mobile robot with the differential drive method, and we are also able to apply the real-time operating system to any complex embedded system easily.
The trend is going to obtain the accurate and fast information to the development of information technology and electronic technology as an important part of corporate management. Press equipment to produce products that target is small and medium businesses. Became so economical real-time production information system(R-PIS) model has been implemented. R-PIS configure the embedded hardware and PC application software. This system is easy maintenance and upgrade that general-purpose PC and a modular hardware devices. Consists of modules such as wireless communication, LCD, Key-pad, memory control, and sensor signal. R-PIS is efficient materials and product management to maximize the productivity of the enterprise.

Recently automotive software has been more complex and needs to be reduced its development time. Software testing of its functionalities and performance should be conducted in an early development phase to reduce time to market and the development cost. Software functional testing can be performed through simulating the hardware, but it is not guaranteed that evaluation of real-time performance using simulation has enough accuracy. Real-time performance can be precisely evaluated with hardware-in-the-loop simulation, but it costs time and effort to set up hardware for testing. In this paper, we suggest a testing system that can evaluate functional requirements and real time properties with a general-purpose development board in the early development phase. In addition, we improve reusability of the testing system through modularized and layered architecture. With the proposed testing system we can contribute to building reliable testing system at low cost without difficulty.

In this paper we present the Bimodal-tram simulator using the PXI embedded real-time controllers. The Bimodal-tram is developed in KRRI (Korea Railroad Research Institute). The vehicle can be automatically operated by navigation control system (NCS). For the automatic driving, the vehicle lanes will be marked with permanent magnets that are placed in the ground. The vehicle is controlled by NCS. NCS governs the manual mode and automatic mode driving. The simulator is designed by an identical conception with the real control condition. The dynamic motion of vehicle is simulated by the nonlinear dynamic model. The control computer calculates the control values. The signal interface is linked by CAN communication. The simulation is processed by real-time base. The test driver can see the graphic motion of vehicle and can operate the steering wheel, gas and brake pedal to control direction and velocity of vehicle during the simulation. At present, the simulator is only operated by manual mode. The automatic mode will be linked after the control algorithm is finished. We will use the simulator to develop the control algorithm in the automatic mode. This paper shows the simulator designed for Bimodal-tram using real-time based controller. The results of the test using the simulator are presented and discussed.

The tracking antenna system must be always pointed to a satellite for data link among moving vehicles. Especially, for an antenna mounted on a moving vehicle, it needs the stabilized the antenna system. So, software and hardware, signal processing of motion detection sensors, real-time processing of vehicle dynamics, trajectory estimation of satellite, antenna servo mechanism, and tracking algorithm, are unified in the antenna system. The purpose of this paper is to design the embedded tracking antenna control system for satellite communication. The embedded OS(Operating System) based stabilization and tracking algorithm was implemented. The performance of the designed embedded control system was verified by the real satellite communication test.
