The purpose of this study was to investigate the environmental awareness and attitude of elementary school teachers. For this study, 100 elementary school teachers from H graduate school of education were sampled. The results of this study were summarized as follows. First, the biggest concern of environmental problems were water-pollution and garbage problems by the lack of understanding about the environment and injudicious development. Second, most teachers recognized the need for environmental education and they answered that they were doing best to teach students with the main purpose of helping them develop values of environmental preservation. Third, most environmental education was carried out during class using current events and the emphasis on garbage separation and recycling. They also showed the lack of teaching materials and field trips for environmental education. Fourth, it appeared to come from media-oriented environmental education. Most teachers mainly used newspapers and visual materials. 1'hey were obtaining knowledge and information related to environmental education through the media. Since in-service teachers' conceptions could directly effect present education, it is necessary to establish a more systematic educational system for environmental education, for in-service elementary school teachers.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of science lesson applying STEAM education on the science learning motivation and science academic achievement of elementary school students. The study subjects were four classes of the 5th grade of M elementary school in B Metropolitan City. Two classes including 64 students were experimental group and the others including 65 students were comparison group. For the purpose of study, the lesson unit 'The human body' were practised, the recomposed unit applying STEAM was applied to experimental group, whereas comparison group was taught traditional science lesson. The results of this study were as follows. First, the science lesson applying STEAM education influenced significantly the improvement of the science learning motivation of elementary school students. Second, the science lesson applying STEAM education influenced significantly the improvement of the science academic achievement of elementary school students.
The purpose of this study was to compare the perception of nutritional education among school administrators, parents, and school nutrition teachers at an elementary school. Questionnaires were distributed to 450 subjects (150 school nutrition teachers, 150 school administrators, and 150 parents) from June 15 to June 30, 2009, and 309 (84 school nutrition teachers, 104 administrators, and 121 parents) were analyzed. The results of this study were as follows. First, school nutrition teachers' perceived level (4.54) of importance of nutritional education was significantly (P<0.001) higher compared to school administrators (4.10) and parents (3.97). Second, demand for revitalization of nutritional education as perceived by parents (3.23) was significantly (P<0.001) higher compared to school nutrition teachers (2.61) and school administrators (2.51). Third, parents' satisfaction level of elementary school nutritional education was 3.23, followed by those of school administrators (2.83) and school nutrition teachers (2.50). There were significant differences in terms of satisfaction of elementary school nutritional education between school administrators, parents, and school nutrition teachers (P<0.001). Fourth, school nutrition teachers' demand for revitalization of nutritional education was significantly (P<0.001) higher at 4.24 compared to both parents (3.76) and school administrators (3.46). Fifth, with regards to bolstering nutritional education in elementary schools, it was deemed necessary for each school to have a school nutrition teacher. In conclusion, perception of nutritional education varied among school administrators, parents, and school nutrition teachers. In conclusion, a communication network between school administrators, parents, and school nutrition teachers should be established for revitalization of nutritional education at elementary schools.
In this study, data was collected on the dietary life education at elementary schools according to the Food Education Support Act using elementary school teachers as subjects. A survey was conducted on 258 elementary school teachers at seven elementary schools located in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Daegu, Korea from April 14-17, 2010. Most teachers reported that dietary life education was very much needed. The appropriate individuals to teach dietary life education were nutrition teachers, charge teachers, and dietary life education tutors, in that order. The most appropriate time to conduct dietary life education was during dietary life-related subject hours, dietary life education hours, food service hours, and discretionary and extracurricular activities, in that order. The most effective materials and methods used for dietary life education were projection materials and dietary life-related special lectures. Efficient dietary life education methods can be used to develop dietary life education programs. Based on these results, elementary school teachers recognize that dietary life education is very much needed and believe that it would be desirable to conduct dietary life education using nutrition teachers in cooperation with other related teachers.
The Purpose of this study is to investigate and suggest a personality education approach for solving interpersonal problems of elementary school students that elementary school teachers are now confronted with. In this study, first of all, the actual conditions of interpersonal problems of elementary school students were examined focusing on interpersonal aggressions(violence and victim). The features and problems of existing approaches for solving interpersonal problems of elementary school students were indicated. Although existing approaches for solving interpersonal aggression problems took temporary and external changes, they failed to notice psychological hurts that victims and aggressive victims got. As a fundamental and systematic way for overcoming problems of existing approaches, forgiveness education based on empirical-scientific forgiveness researches was discussed. The Purpose of forgiveness education is to make victims(aggressive victims) overcome the negative responses derived from interpersonal conflict(hurts and victims) and to facilitate them to response positively through experiencing forgiveness psychological process. Lastly, necessary assignments and topics to use forgiveness education as an effective personality education approach were discussed.
Purpose: The study was to test the effects of nutrition education program changing the dietary self-efficacy and dietary practice of elementary school children. Method: The study was designed as a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The subjects of the study were 70 boys and girls in the fourth grade of elementary school in Seoul. They were devided in two groups evenly : control group and treatment group. The control group participated in the nutrition education with 4 sessions for 4 weeks. data were collected by self-reported questionnaires(dietary self-efficacy and dietary practice) from the 28th of August to the 10th of October. 200l. Result: 1. A hypothesis that 'the elementary school children who participated in the nutrition education may get higher points on dietary self-efficacy than the elementary school children who did not participated' has been adopted(t=-6.36. p<001). 2. A hypothesis that 'the elementary school children who participated in the nutrition education may get higher points on dietary practice than the elementary school children who did not participated' has been adopted(t=-5.03. p<001). Conclusion: The nutrition education is an effective nursing intervention strategy for elementary school children by supporting them form positive dietary self-efficacy and improve dietary practice.
The purpose of this study was to investigation the elementary school teachers' perception in STEAM(Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) Education. For this study, 93 elementary school teachers who have taught mathematics/science in gifted class were selected and a fifteen items questionnaire designed to elicit teachers' perception of steam education was to administered to them. The major findings are as follows: First, the ratio of teachers who understood a steam education exactly is very low. But teachers have positive thoughts about the need of steam education. Second, teachers thought that steam education has a good effect on elementary education. Third, teachers thought that steam education will be an alternative teaching and learning method. Fourth, teachers have negative thoughts to participate in class work related on steam education. To improve negative attitudes on steam education, incentives for teachers seems to be required. In order to spread steam education among the elementary school teachers successfully, the expansion of school facilities, administrators and staff in mind, improving financial support, strengthening education through the development of content and teaching strategies were analyzed as a challenge.

Purpose: This study was conducted to suggest direction and strategy of safety education proper to elementary school children. Method: The subject of this survey consisted of 313 3rd- 5th grade from 4 elementary schools in Kyungi-Do and Kwangwon-Do. Data were collected from March to May, 2002 using a questionnaire about 「safety education needs」, 「knowledge about injury prevention」, 「attitude about injury prevention. Result: 1. The degree of safety education needs showed averaged 77.50 on the basis of 100 points. 2. The degree of knowledge and attitude about injury prevention showed averaged 72.81 and 81.74 seperately on the basis of 100 points. 3. With the respect to the demographic characteristics, there were stastically significant differences in safety education need according to children's grade(F=8.692, p=.003), sex(t=-2.059, p=.040), family type(t=-2.229, p=.027) and in knowledge & attitude about injury prevention, there statiscally significant difference according to experience of injury prevention education(t=3.058, p=.003; t=5.308, p=.000) each. 4. The level of safety education needs is correlated at signficant level with knowledge and attitude about injury prevention of childrens(r=.166, p=.048; r=.265, p=.001) and between knowledge and attitude about injury prevention, there was significant correlation (r=.427, p=.000). Conclusion: From this results, nurses can plan safety education program appropriate to children's needs, level of knowledge and attitude about injury prevention.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a safety education program for elementary school students by comparing elementary school teachers and students on their demands for safety education. Method: The data were collected from 1,754 1-6th grade elementary school students and 335 elementary school teachers (6 elementary schools) using self- report questionnaires. Results: 1) The mean score for level of demand for safety education by elementary school teachers was 4.43 ({\pm}.44$) and for students, 4.01({\pm}.65$). 2) There was a significant difference in the level of demand for safety education between the elementary school teachers and students (t=-14.46, p=.000). 3) There were significant differences in the level of demand for safety education according to teachers' gender (t=-4.36, p=.000), teachers' concern about a safe life (t=5.14, p=.000), teachers' perception of a safe life (t=3.08, p=.002), students' gender (t=-3.89, p=.000), students' grade (t=5.06, p=.000), students' concern about safe life (t=13.09, p=.000), students' safe life practices (t=11.64, p=.000), students' previous experience of safety education (t=2.02, p=.045), and students' recognition of the importance of safety education (F=67.31, p=.000). Conclusion: To develop effective safety education programs for elementary school students, it is necessary to give precedence to demands and interest in safety education of the students.

Background: The study investigated the causes of safety accidents by facility, focused on safety accidents caused directly or indirectly by school facilities at elementary schools in S City. Purpose: The objective of this study is to provide materials for planning the construction of school buildings and the installation of school facilities and for improving existing facilities and ultimately to minimize mental and Physical losses from safety accidents caused by school facilities and to create pleasant education environment. Method: We selected 10 elementary schools in S City, analyzed the factors of safety accidents caused by facilities inside and outside the schools, and presented the results of the analysis including the factors of safety accidents caused by elementary school facilities. Result: It was found that safety accidents caused by elementary school facilities can be prevented to some degree by considering safety accidents in facility planning. As the safety accident rate is higher at elementary schools than at middle and high schools, it is essential to consider safety accidents in planning the construction of an elementary school and to execute safety accident prevention education in order to reduce safety accidents at elementary schools. In addition, as the curriculums are revised and new facilities are introduced for the new curriculums, elementary students' physical, psychological and environmental factors should be analyzed and studied closely and the results should be reflected in establishing the standards for the installation of elementary school facilities.
