  • 실내공간에 존재하는 먼지입자를 제거하는데 적용되는 대표적인 방법들로는 섬유상 필터를 이용한 먼지입자 여과 기술과 전기집진기를 이용한 여과 기술이 있다. 섬유상 필터를 이용한 여과 기술은 입자의 관성충돌(inertial impaction), 차단(interception) 및 확산(diffusion) 메카니즘을 이용한 기술로써, 입자포집 효율이 아주 우수한 반면 압력손실이 큰 단점이 있다. 이러한 단점을 개선하기 위하여 개발된 필터로써 정전부착(electrostatic deposition) 메카니즘을 이용한 정전여과필터(electret filter)라고 것이 있는데, 이것은 섬유 자체에 정전 하전을 주입시킨 특수한 필터이다.   • In this paper, an electrostatic micro-actuator is fabricated using flat p+ diaphragm. To avoid the buckling of the flat p+ diaphragm, the processes are designed appropriately. The fabrication processes of the actuator are the anisotropic etching with EPW, the boron diffusion process, Al deposition and the silicon to glass bonding using the negative photoresist. The distance between the p+ and Al electrodes is $10{\mu}m$, and the thickness of the p+ diaphragm is $2{\mu}m$. The measurement of the characteristic of the actuator is performed at 50V. The center displacement of the diaphragm is $1.5{\mu}m$ at 10Hz. In comparison with the experimental data of the actuator with corrugated diaphragm, it is confirmed that the actuator with flat diaphragm is more effective than that with corrugated one in the small deflection region.

  • Powder library of pseudo four components Li-Ni-Co-Ti compounds were prepared for exploring the composition region with the single phase of the layer-type structure by using combinatorial high-throuput preparation system "M-ist Combi" based on electrostatic spray deposition method. The new layer-type compounds were found wider composition region than the previous report. This process is promising way to find multi component functional materials.

  • The electrostatic layer-by-layer technique provides a convenient way to control the construction of ultrathin films at nano-scale ranges and can be easily obtained. It can be also applicable to fiber substrate with dye compounds. We have fabricated multilayer dye films using diazonium resin and three couplers, which are prepared by self-assembly approach. This method is based on layer-by-layer deposition using electrostatic attraction between oppositely charged ions. Beside, the diazo coupling reaction proceeded to form azo dye layer on the PET fibers the same time. The corresponding results of the multilayer films have been discussed on the level of color strength (K/S).

  • We report on plasma damage free chemical vapor deposition technique for the thin film passivation of organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs), organic thin film transistor (OTFT) and flexible displays using catalyzer enhanced chemical vapor deposition (CECVD). Specially designed CECVD system has a ladder-shaped tungsten catalyzer and movable electrostatic chuck for low temperature deposition process. The top emitting OLED with thin film $SiN_x$ passivation layer shows electrical and optical characteristics comparable to those of the OLED with glass encapsulation. This indicates that the CECVD technique is a promising candidate to grow high-quality thin film passivation layer on OLED, OTFT, and flexible displays.

  • 상온연무기와 같은 소량살포기에 의해 살포된 농약액의 입자경은 10-20$\mu\textrm{m}$ 이하의 것이 대부분이다. 미소 액적은 단시간에 공기의 습구 온도와 평형하게 되어 혼합, 확산되는 특성을 가지고 있으며 증발과 Drift현상이 발생된다. 시설원예의 경우 폐쇄환경에 있으므로 연무직후 온실내 작업의 제한, 부착력포의 불균일, 증발과 Drift량의 과다 등이 큰 문제가 된다. (중략)

  • As the minimum feature size decrease, control of contamination by nanoparticles is getting more attention in semiconductor process. Cleaning technology which removes nanoparticles is essential to increase yield. A reference wafer on which particles with known size and number are deposited is needed to evaluate the cleaning process. We simulated particle trajectories in the chamber by using FLUENT. Charged monodisperse particles are generated using SMPS (Scanning Mobility Particle Sizer) and deposited on the wafer by electrostatic force. The Experimental results agreed with the simulation results well. We calculate the particles loss in pipe flow theoretically and compare with the experimental results.

Spray and Atomization Technologies in Pesticides Application: A Review

  • In the pesticides sprays, spray and atomization technologies to increase the deposition and reduce the drift are briefly reviewed. Further research is needed to deduce a measure of drift risk in sprays with different structures, velocity profiles. For flat fan nozzles, the data of breakup length and thickness of liquid sheet are essential to understand the atomization processes and develop the transport model to target. In the air-assisted spray technology to reduce drift, further works on the effect of application height on drift and air assistance on droplet size should be followed. In addition, methods for quantifying included air in the air inclusion techniques are required. A few researches on the droplet size of fallout can be found in the literature. A combined technology with electrostatic method into one of method for the reduction of drift may be an effective strategy for increasing deposition and reducing drift.

  • A multi-layer of the dye, natural colorant Berberine, was successfully developed by the self-assembly deposition from water-soluble cationic dye(Berberine chloride) and anionic polyelectrolyte PSS(Polysodium 4-styrenesulfonate) in aqueous solution via electrostatic attraction. The corresponding results on multi-layer were characterized by UV-Vis absorbance measurements. The growth of multi-layer formed by the sequential interaction was also determined. The findings measured by UV-Vis spectrophotometer showed that the bilayer deposition characteristic was linear and highly reproducible from layer to layer.

Aerosol Wall Loss in Teflon Film Chambers Filled with Ambient Air

  • Aerosol wall loss is an important factor affecting smog chamber experiments, especially with chambers made of Teflon film. In this work, the aerosol wall loss was investigated in 2.5 and $5.8-m^3$ cubic-shaped Teflon film chambers filled with ambient air. The natural change in the particle size distribution was measured using a scanning mobility particle sizer in a dark environment. The rate of aerosol wall loss was obtained from the deposition theory suggested by Crump and Seinfeld (1981). The measured rates of aero-sol wall loss were In a good agreement with the theoretical and experimental values given by McMurry and Rader (1985), implying that the electrostatic effect enhances particle deposition on the chamber wall. The significance of aerosol wall loss correction was demonstrated with the photochemical reaction experiments using the ambient air.
