  • The 77 K emission and excitation spectra, and 298 K infrared and absorption spectra of [Cr(progly)(2,2-tri)]CIO$_4$[progly=prolylglycinate,2,2-tri=N-(2-aminoethyl)-1,2-ethanediamine] have been measured. The vibrational intervals of the electronic ground state are extracted from emission and infrared spectra. The twelve electronic bands due to spin-allowed and spin-forbidden transitions were assigned. Using the observed electronic transitions, a ligand field analysis was performed to determine the metaligand bonding properties for the coordinated atoms. It is found that the carboxylate oxygen of the progly is a strong $\sigma$-and $\pi$-donor while the peptide nitrogen has weak $\pi$-donor property toward chromium(III) ion.

  • The emission and excitation spectra of $cis-[Cr(cyclam)(NCS)_2]NCS$ (cyclam = 1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane) taken at 77 K are reported. The infrared and visible spectra at room temperature are also measured. The vibrational intervals due to the electronic ground state are extracted from the far-infrared and emission spectra. The ten pure electronic origins due to spin-allowed and spin-forbidden transitions are assigned by analyzing the absorption and excitation spectra. Using the observed transitions, a ligand field analysis has been performed to determine the bonding properties of the coordinated ligands in the title chromium(Ⅲ) complex. According to the results, it is found that nitrogen atoms of the cyclam ligand have a strong σ-donor character, while the NCS ligand has medium σ- and π-donor properties toward chromium(Ⅲ) ion.

  • We present a detailed of the interband transitions of InAs/GaAs self-organized quantum dots(QDs) based on surface photovoltage(SPV), photoreflactance(PR) and photoluminescence(PL) spectroscopies. At room temperature, interband absorption transitions of QDs have been observed by using SPV spectrum, which clearly exhibits three well-resolved absorption transitions of QDs have been observed by using SPV spectrum, which clearly exhibits three well-resolved absorption peaks. The absorption line shape is Gaussian-like. Furthermore, the corresponding interband transitions are also observed in PR and PL experiments at 77K.

  • The strengths of two-photon transitions from the ground state to excited vibronic states in benzene are calculated by using the CNDO/2-U wave functions. The role of vibronic coupling in two-photon absorption process is discussed. The $A_{1{\bar{g}}}-A_{2g}^+$ two-photon transitions, which are forbidden by the identity-forbidden selection rule in single frequency two-photon absorption, are too weak to be experimentally observed even when two photons of different energies are used. It is because the transitions are forbidden also by the pseudo-parity selection rule which are applicable for alternant hydrocarbons such as benzene. It is also shown that the vibronic coupling is not very effective in altering the pseudo-parity property of the electronic state. The strength of the vibronically induced two-photon absorption is strongly affected by the presence of an electronic state from which two-photon absorption can borrow the intensity. It is pointed out that the pseudo-parity selection rule may be violated in such cases.

  • In this paper we propose procedures to enhance testability by modifying state transition tables. In these procedures, transitions about undefined states, which are not described in state transition tables but exist in a synthesized gate level circuit, are added to a state transition table. Experimental results for MCNC benchmarks are shown.

  • The luminescence and photoexcitation spectra of cis-[Cr(cyclam)(NO3)2]NO3·½ H2O (cyclam=1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane) taken at 77 K are reported. The infrared and visible spectra at room-temperature are also measured. The vibrational intervals of the electronic ground state are extracted from the far-infrared and emission spectra. The ten electronic bands due to spin-allowed and spin-forbidden transitions are assigned. With observed transitions, a ligand field analysis has been performed to determine the bonding property of nitrate group in the chromium(Ⅲ) complex. According to the results, it is found that nitrate ligand has weak σ- and π-donor properties toward chromium(Ⅲ).

  • The sharp-line absorption spectrum of microcrystalline samples of cis-[Cr(cycb)$Cl_2$]Cl (cycb=rac-5,5,7,12,12,14-hexamethyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane) has been measured between 13000 and $16000 cm^{-1}$ at temperatures down to 5K. The 77K emission and excitation spectra, and 298 K infrared and visible absorption spectra have also been measured. The nine electronic bands due to spin-allowed and spin-forbidden transitions were assigned. Using the observed transitions, a ligand field analysis has been performed to probe the ligand field properties of coordinated atoms in the title chromium(III) complex. The zero-phonon line in the sharp-line absorption spectrum splits into two components by $240 cm^{-1}$ , and the $large ^2$$_E{g}$ splitting can be reproduced by the modem ligand field theory. It is confirmed that nitrogen atoms of the macrocyclic cycb ligand have a strong $\sigma$-donor character, but chloride ligand has weak $\sigma$- nd $\pi$-donor properties toward chromium(III) ion.n.

  • We have investigated the optical properties of Erbium (Er)-implanted GaN by photoluminescence (PL). Various doses of Er ion were implanted on GaN epilayers by ion implantation. Visible green emission lines due to inner 4f shell transitions for $Er^{3+}$ were observed from the PL spectrum of Er-implanted GaN. The emission spectrum consists of two narrow green lines at 537 and 558 nm. The green emission lines are identified as $Er^{3+}$ transitions from the $^{5}H_{11/2}$ and $^{4}S_{3/2}$ levels to the $^{4}I_{15/2}$ ground state. The stronger peaks in the case with the dose of $5{\times}10^{14}cm^{-2}$, together with the relatively higher intensity of the $Er^{3+}$ luminescence in the lower doped sample. It implies that some damage remains in the case with the dose of $1{\times}10^{16}cm^{-2}$. The peak positions of emission lines due to inner 4f shell transitions for $Er^{3+}$ do not change with increasing temperature. It indicates that $Er^{3+}$ related emission depends very little on the ambient temperature.
