  • A speaker is a system which produces sound through electromechanical operations. It transforms electronic signals into audible sound signals. Almost all speakers are three dimensional. These days, many mobile electronic devices such as mobile electronic devices have become smaller and thinner. A problem with this miniaturization, however, is that the volume of speakers has also decreased. In contrast to conventional three dimensional speakers, we have invented a new type of two dimensional flexible speaker by utilizing the reverse piezoelectric effect.

  • This paper is concerned with the development of a simple digital stethoscope system for diagnosis of cardiac disorders. This system consists of an electronic stethoscope, IC sound recorder and a notebook computer. The cardiac sound is easily acquired by the electronic stethoscope and then recorded in IC memory stick so that the digital cardiac signal can be simply transmitted to the computer for signal display, disease diagnosis, and personal history record. A software is built with functions displaying the sound graphically and replaying the sound clearly. Further, a neural network recognition system for automatic diagnosis of cardiac disorders is also added to the software.

  • GMM has been one of the most popular methods for scream sound detection. In the conventional GMM, the whole training data is divided into scream sound and non-scream sound, and the GMM is trained for each of them in the training process. Motivated by the idea that the process of scream sound detection is very similar to that of speaker recognition, the UBM which has been used quite successfully in speaker recognition, is proposed for use in scream sound detection in this study. We could find that UBM shows better performance than the traditional GMM from the experimental results.

  • The interaural level difference (ILD) used for the sound localization using stereo signals is to find the difference in energy that the sound source reaches both ears. The conventional ILD does not consider the time difference of the stereo signals, which is a factor of lowering the accuracy. In this paper, we propose a synchronized ILD that obtains the ILD after synchronizing these time differences. This method uses the cross-correlation function (CCF) to calculate the time difference to reach both ears and use it to obtain synchronized ILD. In order to prove the performance of the proposed method, we conducted two sound localization experiments. In each experiment, the synchronized ILD and CCF or only the synchronized ILD were given as inputs of the deep neural networks (DNN), respectively. In this paper, we evaluate the performance of sound localization with mean error and accuracy of sound localization. Experimental results show that the proposed method has better performance than the conventional methods.

  • This paper is on a system design of recognizing sound sources and tracing locations from detecting a section of sound sources which is strong in surrounding environmental sounds about sound sources occurring in an abnormal situation by using signals within the section. In detection of the section with strong sound sources, weighted average delta energy of a short section is calculated from audio signals received. After inputting it into a low-pass filter, through comparison of values of the output result, a section strong in background sound is defined. In recognition of sound sources, from data of the detected section, using an HMM(: Hidden Markov Model) as a traditional recognition method, learning and recognition are realized from creating information to recognize sound sources. About signals of sound sources that surrounding background sounds are included, by using energy of existing signals, after detecting the section, compared with the recognition through the HMM, a recognition rate of 3.94% increase is shown. Also, based on the recognition result, location grasping by using TDOA(: Time Delay of Arrival) between signals in the section accords with 97.44% of angles of a real occurrence location.

  • We developed a electronic music glove (BMG) system that plays musical scores in real time processing. The EMG system interfaces with the signal coming from the controller to the sound card in the computer, The computer, according to the status of the fingers and foot switches, generates the sound signals and sends them to the speaker systems through the application C++ program and MIDI message. The EMG systems control the velocity and duration of sound and several musical performance expressions such as chorus, reverberation, rhythm, and volume. Finally, we implemented the digital drum set using: the EMG system as example.

  • In this paper, we propose a deep neural network-based sound interpolation method for realizing virtual reality sound. Through this method, sound between two points is generated by using acoustic signals obtained from two points. Sound interpolation can be performed by statistical methods such as arithmetic mean or geometric mean, but this is insufficient to reflect actual nonlinear acoustic characteristics. In order to solve this problem, in this study, the sound interpolation is performed by training the deep neural network based on the acoustic signals of the two points and the target point, and the experimental results show that the deep neural network-based sound interpolation method is superior to the statistical methods.

  • The production and authoring of digital multimedia contents are most important fields in multimedia technology. Nowadays web-based technology and related multimedia software technology are growing in the IT industry and these technologies are evolving most rapidly in our life. The technology of digital audio and video processing is utilizing rapidly to improve quality of our life, Also we are more interested in high sense and artistic feeling in the music and entertainment areas by use of three dimensional (3D) digital sound technology continuously as well as 3D digital video technology. The service field of digital audio contents is increasing rapidly through the Internet. And the society of Internet users wants the audio contents service with better quality. Recently Internet users are not satisfying the sound quality with 2 channels stereo but seeking the high quality of sound with 5,] channels such as 3D audio of the movie films. But it might be needed proper hardware equipments for the service of 3D sound to satisfy this demand. In this paper, we expand the simple 3D audio generator developed and propose a web-based music bank by the software development of 3D audio generation player in 3D sound environment with two speakers minimizing hardware equipments, Also we believe that this study would contribute greatly to digital 3D sound service of high quality for music and entertainment mania.

  • During delivery, fetal death rate is about 1%. Since fetal death or infection have been continuously occurred, low cost fetal monitoring techniques are required. This study proposes an electronic stethoscope system for fetal phonogram by developing an amplifier to detect fetal movement and heart sound from abdomen of the pregnant woman. Using the electronic stethoscope, it is possible to listen or record the fetal sound and to analyze or store the digitized signal. Through the performance test using the developed system with 30 pregnant women in university hospital, it was found that the developed amplifier showed low noise, high performance. The system can detect heart sound and periods of heartbeats of a 22-week fetus.

Prevent hearing or prevent recognition by using the technology to control the audible frequency band Continue to emit constant and uniform shielding sound audible frequency band Even the security content of speech (20 Hz~20 KHz).
