Anodic Aluminum Oxide (AAO) for Nanotechnology Applications

  • Recently, a self-organizing process that occurs during the anodization of aluminum in acidic electrolytes has attracted a vast amount of research attentions, coupled with the ever-increasing demand for the development of effective, inexpensive and technologically simple methods for the synthesis of low-dimensional nanostructures over a macroscopic area overcoming many of the drawbacks of conventional lithographic techniques. In this presentation, recent progress in the fabrication of ordered nanoporous anodic aluminum oxide (AAO), including conventional anodization techniques, newly developed pulse anodization, hard anodization processes, and generic approaches to three-dimensional pore structures with periodically modulated diameters. Discussion will also cover the applications of AAO for the development of structurally well-defined extended arrays of low-dimensional nanostructures, such as nanodots, nanotubes, and nanowires, which could be model systems in investigating a diverse range of research problems in chemistry and physics and also be starting materials in realizing advanced electronic devices.

Inhomogeneous Growth of PtSi Studied by Spatially Resolved Photoelectron Spectroscopy

  • Noble metal silicides are widely used in silicon based microelectronic and optoelectronic devices. Among them, as compared to other silicides, structural and electronic properties of platinum silicide (PtSi) are found to be less sensitive to change in its dimensions. PtSi is known to overcome the junction spiking problems of Al-Si contacts. Present study is regarding the spatial evolution of platinum silicide in Pt/SiOx/Si. Scanning photoelectron emission microscopy (SPEM) was used for this purpose. SPEM images were obtained for pristine samples and after an annealing at $500^{\circ}C$ for 1 hr. Core-level spectra were recorded at different points in SPEM images contrasted by the intensity of Pt 4f7/2. Both Pt 4f and Si 2p spectra reveal the formation of PtSi after annealing. However, in contrast to earlier reports, PtSi formation is found to be non-uniform confirmed by the SPEM images and from the core level spectra taken at different intensity points.

  • Since, similar to other commercial launch vehicles, various kinds of pyrotechnique devices are used in the KSLV-I(Korea Space Launch Vehicle), the electronic equipment on the vehicle equipment bay is exposed to the sever pyroshock environment during Pyrotechnique device detonation. In order to confirm the survivability of electrical instruments from these pyroshock conditions, shock tests are performed by using a pyroshock simulation during development and qualification phase. In this paper, the pyroshock simulator installed in KARI(Korea Aerospace Research Institute) are briefly introduced, and its performance of pyroshock generating is compared with the measured shock response spectrums from small scaled fairing jettisoning tests. The results show that the pyroshock simulator is still proper to generate severe pyroshocks similar to real pyrotechique detonating conditions, but the redesign on the test jigs is necessary to improve its test performance.

  • High-frequency and complex vibration ultrasonic wire bonding systems are propsed and their welding characteristic are studied. Ultrasonic wire bonding is used widely for joining thin connecting wire of various electronic devices including IC or LSI. Conventional bonding systems use vibration frequency of 40 or 60 kHz and linear vibration welding tips. Complex vibration welding tip which vibrates in elliptical to circular or rectangular to square in the same or different frequency is effective to join welding specimens in shorter welding time and under smaller vibration amplitude, and furthermore high-frequency systems such as 90, 120, 190 kHz are also significantly effective. High-frequency and complex vibration welding system of 90, 120 and 190 kHz are designed. Welding characteristics of these systems are found very superior than a conventional system. Welding specimens of aluminum wire of 0.1mm diameter are successfully.

  • Along with the increase of the importance of power quality, many various systems are dedicated in the analysis of power quality nowadays. But there still exists the same problems for realizing such kind of analysis systems well. One is the customization of the power quality measure devices; The other is an economic problem. This paper presents the usefulness and the advantage of the ICD (Intelligent Electronic Device) as the measure device of power quality And this paper detailedly describes the development procedure of web-based power quality monitoring system through ActiveX controls. Now this power quality monitoring system is already applied to the substation automation system.

  • In this contribution, we designed a serial port interface (SPI) suitable for embedded systems, especially for Bluetooth baseband. Proposed architecture is compatible for the APB bus in AMBA bus architecture. The 8-bit design of the SPI module is in charge of transferring the data and the instructions between the external devices and the coprocessors. We adopted the cyclic redundancy check method for the error correction. Also, we provided the interface for multimedia cards. The designed SPI module was automatically synthesized, placed, and routed. Implementation was performed through the Altera FPGA and well operated at 25MHz clock frequency.

  • The trend is going to obtain the accurate and fast information to the development of information technology and electronic technology as an important part of corporate management. Press equipment to produce products that target is small and medium businesses. Became so economical real-time production information system(R-PIS) model has been implemented. R-PIS configure the embedded hardware and PC application software. This system is easy maintenance and upgrade that general-purpose PC and a modular hardware devices. Consists of modules such as wireless communication, LCD, Key-pad, memory control, and sensor signal. R-PIS is efficient materials and product management to maximize the productivity of the enterprise.

A Versatile Methods for Synthesis of Graphene Sheets from Graphite (그라파이트로부터 그래핀 시트를 제조하는 다양한 합성방법)

  • The unique electronic property of graphene sheets provides potential applications in nanocomposites and fabricating various nicroelectrical devices, such as field-effect transistors, ultrasensitive sensors, and electromechanical resonators. Several effective techniques have been developed for preparing graphene sheets. Among these technique, mechanical exfoliation can produce pure graphene and epitaxial graphene sheets have been prepared by treatment of silicon carbide wafers at high temperature. Recently, graphene sheets have been developed by chemical reduction method from graphene oxide. In this work, we have synthesized graphene sheets based on mechanical exfoliation and chemical reduction methods. Graphene sheets were characterized by field-effect scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM). The size of graphene sheets was from few hundreds nanometer to decades micrometer.

Development of Synthetic Route for Perchlorocyclopentasilane and Its Optical Characterization (Perchlorocyclopentasilnane에 대한 합성방법의 개발과 그의 광학적 특성 조사)

  • Perchlorosilanes are useful precursors for the synthesis of hydrosilanes for the fabrication of electronic devices such as silicon thin-film transistors and silicon nanoparticles. For this solution process, requirements of precursors applicable to solution process are relatively low volatile and soluble in common organic solvents. In this work, the decaphenylcyclopentasilane has been obtained from the reaction of the lithium wire and dichlorodiphenylsilane. The reaction of decaphenylcyclopentasilane with lewis acid catalyst, HCl/$AlCl_3$, gives the perchlorocyclopentasilane. Decaphenylcyclopentasilane exhibits an unusual optical property. Its optical property was characterized by UV-vis and fluorescence spectroscopy. Absorption wavelength maxima for the decaphenylcyclopentasilane was 272 nm. Decaphenylcyclopentasilane displayed an emission band at 741 nm with excitation wavelength of 272 nm.

  • 3D 디스플레이 시장이 커지면서 TFT-LCD TV 자동화 라인 생산 공정을 3D LCD TV 생산 공정으로 변환하여 대량 생산할 경우, 기 설치된 자동화 생산라인의 H/W 부분에는 특별한 투자가 이루어질 거라 판단되지 않고 있다. 하지만 3D LCD Module 검사 등의 S/W 적인 부분은 현재의 기 설치된 TFT-LCD Module 검사장비로는 검사가 불가능하여, 추가적인 투자가 이루어질 것이라 판단되고 있다. 이와 관련하여 본 연구에서는 TFT-LCD 제조공정의 효율적인 기술을 제안하고자 한다. 첫째는 TFT-LCD를 Cell상태에서 직접 구동하는 구동회로 기술과 사용 장소가 Clean Room이므로 개별적 구동 Pallet에 비접촉식으로 전원을 공급할 수 있는 비접촉식 급전장치에 대한 기술이다.
