A Way to Smart Interface based on the IEEE 1451 Standards for Five-senses Information Device in Ubiquitous Environments (유비쿼터스 환경에서 오감 정보 장치를 위한 IEEE 1451 표준 기반의 스마트 인터페이스 방안)

  • Ubiquitous computer can be interfaced with many several peripheral devices for information acquisition. Users should be able to easily use these devices without considering when these devices were interfaced, how to use these devices, and interoperability issues (such as plug and play, the installation of device drivers, and so on). Further, computers and their users need an interface technology that provides five-senses information (the recognition and expressions of the user) such that multimodal interaction can be enabled. In this paper, we proposed an IEEE 1451 standard that uses a smart interface standard for interfacing devices with ubiquitous computer. IEEE 1451 describes the property information of a transducer in the transducer electronic data sheet (TEDS). Further, by using the TEDS format, the interoperability between devices can be enabled by means of the plug-and-play function; it also makes the inconvenient installations of device drivers unnecessary.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine possibilities of industry secret information leakage through IoT devices and to prevent information leakage from the perspective of administrative and technique security. From the administrative security perspective, first, it is important to face the possibility of industry information data leakage through anyone who can access companies and should establish guidelines to limit the use of IoT devices when entering companies. Second, security management guideline should be prepared by companies or upon user's request and use of any electronic devices sharing wireless internet connection should be eliminated or restricted. From technique security perspective, channels that sharing IoT devices in computers should be controlled since industry secret information are stored in computers and servers. Furthermore, IoT devices that accessing wireless internet network or devices that already registered should be regularly checked in order to minimize any information leakage. Lastly, data and information stored in computers and servers should be encrypted.

  • Korean medical device industry has laid the foundation for full-fledged growth and development with the G7 medical engineering technology development project that started in 1995, and the medical device production in 2020 increased by 8.52 times and the export by 13.94 times, compared to those in 2001. In early years, electronic medical devices such as ultrasound imaging device contributed greatly to Korean medical industry, but top ranks in medical device production and export in Korea has shifted recently to in vitro diagnostic medical devices and dental implants. However, the share of imported medical devices in the Korean medical device market have not changed much; it still ranges in 60 to 70%, as the Korean medical device industry produces and exports mid- to low-priced medical devices, and technology-intensive and capital-intensive high-priced medical devices are mainly imported. In this paper, we compare the leading medical devices produced by major Korean companies and those by global top medical device companies to suggest strategies for the Korean medical device companies to enter the global market.

  • Mobile devices such as cellular phones and PDA become a part of our life by extreme improvement of Wireless internet and arriving the age of Ubiquitous. Especially it makes increasing rapidly the expectations about a field of remote control that is great advantage of Mobile devices. Existing computer remote control systems are hard to meet user's appropriate manage when error happened because Clients could not recognize the state of several remote controlled computers which connected to web server. This paper Implementation remote computer control system that immediately after errors happen by send error massages in the from of a SMS to client by set the clients with cellular phone that most generally used Mobile devices.

  • It is becoming more difficult to improve the device operating speed by shrinking the size of semiconductor devices. Therefore, for a new leap forward in the semiconductor industry, the advent of silicon opto-electronic devices, i.e., silicon photonics is more desperate. Silicon Avalanche LED is one of the prospective candidates to realize the practical silicon opto-electronic devices due to its simplicity of fabrication, repeatability, stability, high speed operation, and compatibility with silicon IC processing. We conducted the measurement of the electrical characteristics and the observation of the light-emitting phenomena using optical microscopy. We analyzed the influence of the design elements such as the shape of the light-emitting area and the depth of the $n^{+}-p^{+}$ junction with simple device modeling and simulation. We compared the results of simulation and the measurement and explained the discrepancy between the results of the simulation and the measurement, and the suggestions for the improvement were given.

Characteristics of SnO2 Thick Film Gas Sensors Doped with Catalyst (촉매가 첨가된 SnO2 후막형 가스센서의 특성 연구)

  • Cu doped $SnO_2$ thick films for gas sensors were fabricated by screen printing method on alumina substrates and annealed at $500^{\circ}C$ in air, respectively. Structural properties of $SnO_2$ by X-ray diffraction showed (110), (101) and (211) dominant tetragonal phase. The effects of catalyst Cu in $SnO_2$-based gas sensors were investigated. Sensitivity of $SnO_2$:Cu sensors to 2,000 ppm $CO_2$ gas and 50 ppm $H_2S$ gas was investigated for various Cu concentration. The highest sensitivity to $CO_2$ gas and $H_2S$ gas of Cu doped $SnO_2$ gas sensors was observed at the 8 wt% and 12 wt% Cu concentration, respectively. The improved sensitivity in the Cu doped $SnO_2$ gas sensors was explained by decrease of electron depletion region in Cu and $SnO_2$ junction, and increase of reactive oxygen and surface area in the $SnO_2$.

Development of a Low-Price Device for Standby Power Cut-off (저가형 대기전력 차단장치 개발)

  • A device which could cut off the consumption of standby power by electric or electronic devices at homes and offices while waiting for a command to carry out the main functions from the inside or the outside was developed at a low price. Efforts to save standby power have been made on a global scale as well as by advanced countries. The consumption of standby power in South Korea is also increasing gradually due to increasing trend in the number of electronic and electric devices per household, becoming a major factor for waste of electric energy. The previous standby power cutoff devices themselves have high electric energy consumption and complicated structures, making the purpose less meaningful. Therefore, a low-priced standby power cutoff device is suggested in this study, which compensates such problems and cuts off the consumption of standby power completely. The circuit of the suggested standby power cutoff device was designed and implemented by applying it to an earth leakage breaker and an (electrical) outlet. Experimental results show its superiority.

  • One of the critical consumables in chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) is a specialized solution or slurry, which typically contains both abrasives and chemicals acting together to planarize films. In single abrasive slurry (SAS), the solid phase consists of only one type of abrasive particle. On the other hand, mixed abrasive slurry (MAS) consists of a mixture of at least two types of abrasive particles. In this paper, we have studied the CMP characteristics of mixed abrasive slurry (MAS) retreated by adding of $CeO_2$ abrasives within 1:10 diluted silica slurry (DSS). The slurry designed for optimal performance should produce reasonable removal rates, acceptable polishing selectivity with respect to the underlying layer, low surface defects after polishing, and good slurry stability. The modified abrasives in MAS are evaluated with respect to their particle size distribution, surface morphology, and CMP performances such as removal rate and non-uniformity. As an experimental result, we obtained the comparable slurry characteristics compared with original silica slurry in the viewpoint of high removal rate and low non-uniformity.

Multi-Band Chip Slot Antenna for Mobile Devices (무선 통신 기기에 적합한 다중 대역 칩 슬롯 안테나)

  • In this paper, the chip slot antenna which is used for mobile devices and designed for multi-band is proposed. The proposed antenna is comprised of a chip antenna(10 mm$\times$20 mm$\times$1.27 mm) and a system circuit board(30 mm$\times$60 mm$\times$0.8 mm). The chip slot antenna is mounted on the system circuit board and the end of F-type strip line which is patterned on the chip antenna is connected by a via with a ground plane of the system circuit board. So, a chip antenna radiates effectively the energy by transition between a microstrip line of the system circuit board and a open slot structure of the chip antenna. In the results of proposed antenna, impedance bandwidth of 3:1 VSWR(-6 dB return loss) is 1.98 GHz(1.61~3.59 GHz) and 0.8 GHz(5.2~6 GHz). So, it can cover multi-band of DCS, PCS, UMTS, WLAN. The proposed antenna can be applied to mobile devices.

Gas Sensing Characteristics and Preparation of SnO2 Nano Powders (SnO2 나노 분말의 합성 및 가스 감응 특성)

  • [ $SnO_2$ ]nano powders were prepared by solution reduction method using tin chloride($SnCl_2{\cdot}2H_2O$), hydrazine($N_2H_4$) and NaOH. The $SnO_2$ thick films for gas sensors were fabricated by screen printing method on alumina substrates and annealed at $300^{\circ}C$ in air, respectively. XRD patterns of the $SnO_2$ nano powders showed the tetragonal structure with (110) dominant orientation. The particle size of $SnO_2$ nano powders at the ratio of $SnCl_2:N_2H_4$+NaOH= 1:6 was about 60 nm. The sensing characteristics were investigated by measuring the electrical resistance of each sensor in a test box. Sensitivity of $SnO_2$ gas sensor to 5 ppm $CH_4$gas and 5 ppm $CH_3CH_2CH_3$ gas was investigated for various $SnCl_2:N_2H_4$+NaOH proportion. The highest sensitivity to $CH_4$ gas and $CH_3CH_2CH_3$ gas of $SnO_2$ sensors was observed at the $SnCl_2:N_2H_4$+NaOH= 1:8 and $SnCl_2:N_2H_4$+NaOH= 1:6, respectively. Response and recovery times of $SnO_2$ gas sensors prepared by $SnCl_2:N_2H_4$+NaOH= 1:6 was about 40 s and 30 s, respectively.
