  • Along with the national and international movements to realize the electronic commerce, large amount of architectural information has been converted into digital format and stored in database systems. However the access and utilization of the information is not effective enough. It is because different terminologies are often used for describing the same object in architectural engineering. Furthermore the relationship among related objects is not captured effectively in the databases. In this paper, we utilize the relationship among architectural terminologies in order to search architectural drawings effectively. The relationship is saved in a ontology database and a prototype of search system that utilizes the relationship is presented in this paper.

  • Objectives : Atractylodes rhizomes, which have been widely used to treat gastrointestinal disorders, consist of numerous chemical compounds. Polyacetylenes are the parts of characteristic compounds of importance required to understand the therapeutic properties of Atractylodes rhizomes. It is necessary to understand the physicochemical and pharmacological properties of polyacetylenes in the Atractylodes rhizomes. Methods : The literatures from 1970 to January 2016 were searched using Korean and international electronic databases. The chemical structures of polyacetylenes were drawn by structure-drawing software. Results : The reported polyacetylenes were classified by their chemical skeletons and original resources, and their physicochemical and pharmacological features were discussed. Polyacetylenes with skeletal moieties were reported, such as diene-diyne types (two double and two triple carbon-bonds), triene-diyne types (three double carbon bonds and two triple carbon bonds), and monoene-diyne types (one double carbon bonds and two double carbon bonds), with various functional groups. Atractylodin was most frequently reported from many Atractylodes species. Atractylodin-related polyacetylenes showed chemical instability in both high and freezing temperatures. Processing of the Atractylodes rhizomes by stir-frying with bran could affect the contents of polyacetylenes and their bioavailability in vivo. Several polyacetylenes showed structure-related anti-inflammatory activities and gastrointestinal activities. Conclusion : Polyacetylene compounds in Atractylodes rhizomes were based on three chemical backbones and showed diverse physicochemical and pharmacological features. The present study provides structural, physicochemical, and pharmacological information of polyacetylene from Atractylodes rhizomes. This information provides fundamental data for further research.

  • An efficient torso pattern has been developed to cope with the future trend of order-based, individualized production like the E.C.(Electronic Commerce) in the apparel industry, and to make a database foundation of automatic garment pattern drafting. For this purpose, a non-contact three-dimensional anthropometric measurement system was used to provide a lot of accurate body data for better individual fit, and an automatic pattern drafting system that can easily generate various size patterns and construct a pattern database has been developed too. The subjects of this research were 18 to 24 year-old women whose data had been gathered through the Korean national investigation of anthropometry for industrial standards in 1997 and various body shapes were analyzed by the measurements. And a special software system has been developed to verify the validity of newly proposed drawing rules. The results of sensory evaluation for appearance and moving fitness of the new torso pattern showed a significant improvement in individual fit even for the figures with large deviation from standard shape compared with the results of the traditional one.

  • CALS(Commerce At Light Speed)/EC(Electronic Commerce) is drawing considerable interest as strategic part of efforts for computerization of the government and companies and for industry-wide innovation, using Internet and information superhighway that is widely expanding world-wide with the development of computers and information communication technology. In the current industry infrastructure, standardization is difficult but very important among the parties that want to share the added value, as external environmental components increase since the advent of computers. However, information security technology is not permitted to be exported in light of national interest or high amount of royalty should be paid. Moreover, if we cannot fully analyze the international standard and imported technology in order to verify the safety of using them, domestic information can be exposed according to the desire of the country exporting the technology. In particular, information security technology should be developed by ourselves, considering technology Protection and export Prevention Policies of foreign countries. Therefore, this paper presents information security technology and standardization trends for several application fields regarding CALS/EC implementation in our and foreign countries. This paper also analyzes such trends and proposes strategic direction for standardization suited for domestic environment.

  • A flexible piezoelectric energy harvester(f-PEH) that converts tiny mechanical and vibrational energy resources into electric signals without any restraints is drawing attention as a self-powered source to operate flexible electronic systems. In particular, the nanocomposites-based f-PEHs fabricated by a simple and low-cost spin-coating method show a mechanically stable and high output performance compared to only piezoelectric polymers or perovskite thin films. Here, the non-piezoelectric polymer matrix of the nanocomposite-based f-PEH is replaced by a P(VDF-TrFE) piezoelectric polymer to improve the output performance generated from the f-PEH. The piezoelectric hybrid nanocomposite is produced by distributing the perovskite PZT nanoparticles inside the piezoelectric elastomer; subsequently, the piezoelectric hybrid material is spin-coated onto a thin metal substrate to achieve a nanocomposite-based f-PEH. A fabricated energy device after a two-step poling process shows a maximum output voltage of 9.4 V and a current of 160 nA under repeated mechanical bending. Finite element analysis(FEA) simulation results support the experimental results.
