  • This study is conducted to find out whether companies which use electronic commerce for their business are collecting the least personal information. of consumers that are necessary for providing electronic commerce services to consumers. Investigators visited website of 799 electronic commerce companies, and checked out the personal informations of consumers that were asked when they join the site as a member. The collected data were analyzed with frequency, percentage, and cross-tab analysis using SPSS program. Generally most electronic commerces required more personal information of consumers than necessary for providing their services to consumers. These phenomena are partly due to the fact that regulations regarding consumer privacy in electronic commerce are advisory rather than mandatory at present. Therefore, it is suggested that mandatory regulation which makes companies poot their identification within a certain area of their web page has to enforced for the protection of consumer privacy in electronic commerce. And it would be more efficient if consumers are consistently educated about self protection guideline regarding personal information in using electronic commerce in addition to a mandatory regulation.

It provides the means how to manage risks in the electronic commerce with a focus on the insurance by which to transfer the risks to the third person. b. Since there are few preceding studies on the insurance of electronic commerce, further studies on the insurance stipulations about coverage and exclusions are needed. c. The risks in the electronic commerce are critical to the businessmen and the insurance can protect them from the perils and activate the electronic commerce. d. Inter-governmental and inter-organizational cooperations are needed to enact the unified international insurance clause. Researches on the electronic insurance should be vitalized for more objective analysis. • Electronic commerce facilitates trade and lower transaction cost can help firms make use of the opportunities of globalization of production and markets. Electronic commerce has broad implications for future trade. These implications include the effect on trade policy making and enforcement. And it is important to ensure that the present and future trading system de jure and de facto allows electronic commerce to realize its potentials as an alternative or a complement to conventional trade. The comprehensive work program had been implemented to examine all trade-related issues relating to global electronic commerce before the Seattle 3rd Ministerial Conference which was suspended. In general, Member countries recognized the need to ensure that electronic commerce in all its forms is conducted in full conformity with WTO principles and rules. But, there are still major issues to be solved such as access to relevant electronic systems, competition policy in telecomnunications services, WTO provisions relating to the protection of IPRs, the clarification of a number of key concepts and definitions, etc.

  • Almost business enterprises have recently used electronic commerce to conduct their business. Electronic commerce has come to encompass the Internet as well as EDI on private networks begun in the 1960s. The Internet is already changing the way that many companies conduct their business. Domestic electronic commerce has rapidly enhanced, while Int'l electronic commerce has gone steady. There are four issues for developing of Int'l Electronic Commerce. Firstly, The EDI Standardization is to be uniformed and prevailed over the world in UN/EDIFACT authorized by ISO. Secondly, There are two useful systems on Electronic Document Transmission, so called, Bolero project system and Trade Card System. It is thought that Bolero system will be more useful for large trading enterprises, especially, who need a Letter of Credit and electronic B/L, while T/C system is proper to small trade companies who do not need those. Successful results of Bolero system is very important for Int'l electronic commerce enterprises. Thirdly, to secure electronic signature, Int'l Certification Authority is essential for the users of Int'l electronic commerce. Trusted way of distributing public keys is to use a Int'l Certification Authority. The Int'l Certification Authority will accept user's public key, along with some proof of identity and serve as a depository of digital certificates. Both governments and the International business community must involve archiving keys with trusted third parties. Finally, It is important that all the nations and UNCITRAL continue efforts to make legal bases in Int'l electronic commerce concerned, including electronic signature, certification etc.

To anticipate the future of each information communication technology and electronic commerce accurately , we have attempted to develop a classification model of electronic commerce technology. A classification model for EC technologies consists of three categories: basic technology, base technology, and application technology. This model can play a role as a guideline in classifying EC technologies into three hierarchical category and in comparing the relative relationships of each electronic commerce technology. It will also provide an impetus for the study of electronic commerce technologies and for the shaping process of electronic commerce generally.

  • As the information technology advances and the number of internet users increase, the electronic commerce has been discussed actively in the academic and industrial circles. Though the reference model is important as a guide to the study on electronic commerce at this time, current studies on the reference model are inclined to emphasize on the specified area, not on overall area. In this respect, this paper aims to provide the synthetic reference model - named the ECGR model(Electronic Commerce Generic Reference model) - and its application plans. First, for these purposes, several frameworks and reference models of electronic commerce are compared and analyzed from the various viewpoints. Second, several factors for the development of the reference model are proposed. Finally, the ECGR model is developed and its application plans are suggested. The ECGR model provides a conceptual and analytical apparatus to interpret the profound understanding of electronic commerce and presents the fundamental framework related to the electronic commerce projects. According to the expansion of electronic commerce and the development of related information technology, the ECGR model must be modified.

  • Though electronic commerce has grown rapidly in international trade, there is no basic consensus for its concept and rule applied. So WTO has done practice of not imposing customs duties on digital contents and been researching overall on electronic commerce through Work Program while many countries of the world attempt to obtain their interests by stipulating chapter of electronic commerce in their FTAs. This paper has compared and analysed chapter of electronic commerce in all the FTAs which Korea has signed and enforced. Korea's FTA stipulates commonly no customs duties, the other chapter's priority when chapter of electronic commerce conflicts the other chapter, electronic authentication, protection of personal information and consumer protection. But it has weak consistency and framework as it has different provisions for the objects of electronic commerce respectively, reserves classification & applied rule for electronic commerce, stipulates differently on non discrimination treatment and so on. Korea should participate in the research of international organization including WTO and cope actively and elastically by analysing the provisions of electronic commerce of the other countries' FTA such as USA, EU, CHINA and so on.
