Electric discharge machining drill (EDM-drill) is an efficient process for the fabrication of micro-diameter deep metal hole. As there is non-physical contact between tool (electrode) and workpiece, EDM-drill is widely used to machine the hard machining materials such as high strength steel, cemented carbide, titanium alloys. The electro-thermal energy forces the electrode to wear out together with the workpiece to be machined. The electrode wear occurs inside of a machining hole. and It causes hard to monitor the machining state, which leads the productivity and the quality to decrease. Thus, this study presents a methodology to estimated the electrode wear amount while two coefficients (scale factor and shape factor) of the logarithmic regression model are evaluated from the experiment result. To increase the accuracy of estimation model, the linear transformation method is adopted using the differences of initial electrode wear differences. The estimation model is verified through experiment. The experimental result shows that within minute error, the estimation model is able to predict accurately.

In order to make a deep and precise micro-hole, electrode wear and clearance between the electrode and the workpiece are important parameters using micro-electrical discharge machining. In this study, experiments were carried out to show the characteristics of electrode wear and radial clearance with respect to the depth of machined hole. Electrode wear varied with respect to the depth of hole. With deeper machined hole, bigger clearance was observed. Also it was found that the diameter of electrode influences machining characteristics of deep holes.
A discharge electrode plays a role of shaving off workpiece with spark generated by current in discharge machining. Accordingly, for the discharge electrode, an electrode with excellent wear resistance is necessary. Generally, Graphite and Cu are used as the materials of the electrode, and recently Cu-W is mainly used as an electrode with excellent wear resistance. However, the form of the electrode generally used is produced mostly using cutting work, so a lot of costs incur if several similar forms are needed. Thus, this study developed a Cu-W electrode using Metal Injection Molding (MIM) process to produce similar forms with excellent productivity and a great quantity of electrodes in a similar form in discharge machining and carried out a discharge machining test. In developing an electrode applying MIM, predicting contraction of a product in a sintering process, a mold expansion ratio of 1.29486 was given, but the actual product showed a percentage of contraction 24% to 32%, which showed a difference of 3% to 5%. In addition, to verify wear resistance of the discharge electrode, abrasion loss was measured after the discharge.

The Electric discharge machining (EDM) process is used to minimize the difference between designed feature and machined feature while the most workpiece is removed through the cutting processes. The tiny-deep hole machining and perpendicular wall machining in mold and die are good applications of EDM. Among EDM equipment, the super drill uses the hollowed electrode to eliminate the debris which causes the second discharge with the electrode and degrades the machining quality. Through the hollow, the high pressured discharge oil is supplied to remove the debris together with the spindle rotation. The thin-hollow electrode tends to easily wear out compared to the sold die-sinking electrode and its wear rate is might not allowed to monitor in real time during discharging. Up to now, the wear amount is measured by off line method, which leads machining time to increase because the hole pass-through moment can be check by visual (manually) with the extra tool path. Therefore, this study suggests the attractive method to evaluate the hole pass-through moment in which the gap voltage and z-axis encoder pulse are monitored to predict the moment. The commercial super drill is used to validate the proposed method and the experiment is carried out.

Recently, as we move toward a society with an increasingly aged population, wearable U-health devices in various shapes with smart wear have been developed in order to conveniently measure health variables without using hands in daily life or at home. However, the problem is that only supply of the wearable U-health devices is focused and its applicable devices are studied and developed, which has resulted in lack of awareness of importance of performance evaluation. In this study, two electrodes were fabricated using conductive fabric which can be used as electrode if attached to wearable U-health devices or smart wear in order to measure ECG signal. Two electrodes those were fabricated using conductive fabric were compared the correlation, impedance and CMRR with patch typed Ag-AgCl electrode-normally used for measurement of ECG signal, so that the study would find out if the fabricated electrode can be used with the wearable U-health devices by testing and evaluating performances.

A study is a experiment which is figure out to optimum discharge cutting condition of the surface roughness, electronic discharging speed and electrode wear ration with Ton , Toff and V(voltage) as an input condition according to the current(Ip) in an electric spark machine : 1) Electrode is utilized Cu and Graphite. 2) Work piece is used the material of carbon steel. The condition of experiment is : 1) Current is varied 0.7(A) to 50(A) and the time of electric discharging to work piece in each time is 30(min) to 60(min). 2) After the upper side of work piece was measured in radius(5$\mu$m) of stylus analyzed the surface roughness to ade the table and graph of Rmax by yielding data. 3) Electro wear ratio is : \circled1Cooper was measured ex-machining and post-machining by the electronic balance. \circled2The ex-machining of graphite measured by it, the post-machining was found the data from volume $\times$specific gravity and analyzed to made its table and graph on ground the data. 4) In order to keep the accuracy of voltage affected to the work piece was equipped with the A.V. R and the memory scope was sticked to the electric spark machine. 5) In order to preserve the precision of current, to get rid of the noise occured by internal resistance of electric spark machine and to force injecting for the discharge fluid , it made the fixed table for a work piece to minimize the work error by means of one's failure during the electric discharging.

TiC-Al2O3 composite ceramics has high hardness, high strength, high wear and corrosion resistance. Therefore, composite ceramics have been concerned significantly with some excellent properties and many functions as new industrial materials to the industry at large. In present research, experiments are carried out to obtain the machinability and machining properties by EDM. As a result, the most suitable machining conditions of TiC-Al2O3 composite ceramics was that the pulse duration is 10-60$mutextrm{s}$, the peak current is 10-16A. The machining speed and the wear of the tool electrode increased with the increase in peak current.
As assessment of quantitative energy expenditure for effective exercise is becoming more important, many researches about the monitoring system for exercise status or result have been actively carried out. In this case, however, bicycle riders feel restrained and uncomfortable because the riders should wear a belt-type electrocardiograph or a watch-type accelerometer or GPS system during the assessment of bicycle exercise. In this study, therefore, an electrocardiograph based on textile electrode was developed for measuring ECG and calculating heart rate from the bicycle rider without feeling restraint, and smartphone application was also developed for monitoring the heart rate.

In this study, the analysis was carried out for Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) characteristics of the Cu electrodes by LIGA process. The shape of electrodes has 324 pins for the cavity of BGA(Ball Grid Array) type test socket mold. BGA test sockets are used in the inspection process of the semi-conductor I.C chip manufacturing. In the work, the machining performance for EDM of the electrodes was analyzed on dimensional accuracy and wear rate. The dimensional accuracy was measured for dimension of the pins, pitch size between the pins and the roundness of corner edge using optical measuring machine.

Micro electrical discharge machining (${\mu}EDM$) has been used for non-conventional material removal. One drawback of ${\mu}EDM$ is low productivity. In this study, we tried to find the optimal machining conditions to manufacture the micro hole with an optimal machining time without loss of accuracy. Taguchi method was used to figure out the relation between machining parameters and characteristics of the process. It was found that the electrode wear, the entrance and exit clearance gave a significant effect on the diameter of the micro hole when the diameter of the electrode was identical. Grey relational analysis was used to determine the optimal machining condition for minimum machining time without loss of accuracy. The obtained optimal machining condition was the input voltage of 80V, the capacitance of 680pF, the resistance of $500{\Omega}$, the feed rate of $1.5{\mu}m$/s and the spindle speed of 2900rpm. The machining time was reduced to 48% without loss of accuracy under the optimal machining condition.
