열간단조공법을 이용한 컨로드용 Al 합금의 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of Al Alloy for the Vehicle Connecting Rod Using Hot Forging)

  • Alumium alloys hot forging process are gaining increased acceptance in the automotive and electronic industries and hot forging is one of the most efficient manufacturing method for mass product parts. It has been investigated the microstructures and mechanical properties of Al-11.7Si-0.5Mg (KNT40-T6)alloy fabricated by hot forging process for development of connecting rod in this study. The microstructure of hot forged specimen was composed of eutectic structure of alumimum solid solution and $Mg_2Si$ precipitates. The tensile strength of solutionized Al-11.7Si-0.5Mg alloy was 217MPa. This alloy showed a good corrosion resistance using electrochemical polarization test.

Electrochemical Properties of NiO-YSZ Thin Films on 316 Stainless Steel Bipolar Plates Under a Simulated PEMFC Environment

  • The corrosion resistance of 316L stainless steel coated with NiO-YSZ (Ni added yttria stabilized zirconia) was examined in a proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) environment. The NiO-YSZ coating was carried out using a sol-gel dip coating method, and the corrosion resistance and interfacial contact resistance (ICR) were determined by the composition and morphology of the NiO-YSZ film. The corrosion resistance increased with increasing Ni content in the NiO-YSZ film, but rapid corrosion was observed when the YSZ film contained more than 15 wt % Ni due to surface cracks. The polarization resistance was improved by several orders of magnitude when 316L stainless steel was coated with a 15 wt % NiO-YSZ film compared to bare 316L. The ICR of the NiO-YSZ film was decreased to that of bare 316L when the YSZ film contained 25 wt % NiO, suggesting the possible application of NiO-YSZ coated stainless steel for a bipolar plate.

코팅과 열처리가 연료전지 분리판의 내식성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of the Coaling and Annealing on Noncorrosive of Fuel Cell Separator)

  • The molten carbonate fuel cell has conspicuous feature and high potential in being used as an energy converter of various fuel to electricity and heat. However, the molten carbonate fuel cell which use strongly corrosive molten carbonate at $650^{\circ}C$ have many problem. One of the material problems is the severe corrosion of the metallic components, such as the separator. The effect of coating and annealing treatment on the corrosion for SUS 304 and SUS 430 which are the candidate materials for molten carbonate fuel cell hardware has been investigated in molten carbonate at $650^{\circ}C$ by using steady state polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy method. It was found that the corrosion current of these SUS 304 and SUS 430 decreased with coating and annealing treatment.

알루미늄 6061 합금 양극산화 후 열처리에 따른 표면 특성 관찰 (Effects of Heat Treatment on Surface Properties of Aluminum 6061 Alloy After Anodization)

  • Anodization is a representative electrochemical surface treatment method that can improve both heat resistance and corrosion resistance by forming an anodization film on the surface of the aluminum. However, these properties can be changed after an additional heat treatment process. In this study, Al 6061 was subjected to an anodization process at 60 V for 1 hour, 5 hours, or 9 hours. An additional heat treatment process was performed at 500 ℃ for 30 minutes. Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) analysis revealed that the thickness of the anodized film was increased in proportion to the anodization time. Both pore size and pore diameter of the anodized film was also increased after anodization. After an additional heat treatment process, there were no significant changes in the thickness, pore size, or pore diameter of the anodized film. Heat resistance was confirmed through thermal analysis and chemical resistance was evaluated with a potentiodynamic polarization test.

Corrosion Characteristics of Welding Zones Welded with 1.25Cr-0.5 Mo Filler Metal to Forged Steel for Piston Crown Material

  • A heavy oil of low quality has been mainly used in the diesel engine of the merchant ship as the oil price has been significantly jumped for several years. Thus, a combustion chamber of the engine has been often exposed to severely corrosive environment more and more because temperature of the exhaust gas of the combustion chamber has been getting higher and higher with increasing of using the heavy oil of low quality. As a result, wear and corrosion of the engine parts such as exhaust valve, piston crown and cylinder head surrounded with combustion chamber are more serious compared to the other parts of the engine. Therefore, an optimum repair welding for these engine parts is very important to prolong their lifetime in a economical point of view. In this study, 1.25Cr-0.5Mo filler metal was welded with SMAW method in the forged steel which would be generally used with piston crown material. And the corrosion properties of weld metal, heat affected and base metal zones were investigated using electrochemical methods such as measurement of corrosion potential, anodic polarization curves, cyclic voltammogram and impedance etc. in 35% $H_2SO_4$ solution. The weld metal and base metal zones exhibited the highest and lowest values of hardness respectively. And, the corrosion resistance of the heat affected and weld metal zones was also increased than that of the base metal zone. Furthermore, it appeared that the corrosive products with red color and local corrosion like as a pitting corrosion were more frequently observed on the surface of the base metal zone compared to the heat affected and weld metal zones. Consequently, it is suggested that the mechanical and corrosion characteristics of the piston crown can be predominantly improved by repair welding method using the 1.25Cr-0.5Mo electrode.

Corrosion Behaviors of Dental Implant Alloy after Micro-sized Surface Modification in Electrolytes Containing Mn Ion

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the corrosion behaviors of dental implant alloy after microsized surface modification in electrolytes containing Mn ion. Materials and Methods: $Mn-TiO_2$ coatings were prepared on the Ti-6Al-4V alloy for dental implants using a plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) method carried out in electrolytes containing different concentrations of Mn, namely, 0%, 5%, and 20%. Potentiodynamic method was employed to examine the corrosion behaviors, and the alternatingcurrent (AC) impedance behaviors were examined in 0.9% NaCl solution at $36.5^{\circ}C{\pm}1.0^{\circ}C$ using a potentiostat and an electrochemical impedance spectroscope. The potentiodynamic test was performed with a scanning rate of $1.667mV\;s^{-1}$ from -1,500 to 2,000 mV. A frequency range of $10^{-1}$ to $10^5Hz$ was used for the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurements. The amplitude of the AC signal was 10 mV, and 5 points per decade were used. The morphology and structure of the samples were examined using field-emission scanning electron microscopy and thin-film X-ray diffraction. The elemental analysis was performed using energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. Result: The PEO-treated surface exhibited an irregular pore shape, and the pore size and number of the pores increased with an increase in the Mn concentration. For the PEO-treated surface, a higher corrosion current density ($I_{corr}$) and a lower corrosion potential ($E_{corr}$) was obtained as compared to that of the bulk surface. However, the current density in the passive regions ($I_{pass}$) was found to be more stable for the PEO-treated surface than that of the bulk surface. As the Mn concentration increased, the capacitance values of the outer porous layer and the barrier layer decreased, and the polarization resistance of the barrier layers increased. In the case of the Mn/Ca-P coatings, the corroded surface was found to be covered with corrosion products. Conclusion: It is confirmed that corrosion resistance and polarization resistance of PEO-treated alloy increased as Mn content increased, and PEO-treated surface showed lower current density in the passive region.

유기전해질에 따른 EDLC의 전기화학적 특성 (Electrochemical Characteristics of EDLC with various Organic Electrolytes)

  • 탄소계 전극을 사용하는 EDLC(Electric Double Layer Capacitor)용의 축전용량과 충방전속도는 전해질의 종류, 충방전 조건 그리고 탄소계 물질의 물리화학적 성질에 따라 크게 달라질 수 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 dip coating method에 의해 제조된 EDLC용 활성탄소 전극에서 유기 전해질의 종류를 달리하여 충방전 실험과 전기화학적인 실험을 시행하였다. 또한 충전전류밀도와 방전전류밀도의 변화에 따른 비축전 용량의 변화를 조사하였고, 최적 유기전해질의 조건에서 leakage current 특성, 자가방전 특성 그리고 시간전압곡선을 기존의 $1M-Et_4NBF_4/PC$와 비교하였다 활성탄, 소전극으로 비표면적이 $2000m^2/g$인 MSP-20을 사용하고 유기전해질로는 $1M-LiPF_6/PC-DEC(1:1)$를 사용한 EDLC에서 130 F/g 정도의 우수한 비축전 용량을 나타내었고 저항면에서도 가장 낮은 수치를 나타내었다 $1M-LiPF_6/PCDEC(1:1)$를 사용한 EDLC는 15분동안 0.0004A의 낮은 leakage current와 100시간 경과 후 0.8V의 우수한 자가 방전 특성 그리고 IR-drop이 적은 선형의 시간-전압곡선을 보여주었다.

e-beam 증발법으로 제조된 비정질 WO3박막과 전해질 계면으로 삽입되는 리튬의 층간 반응에 관한 전기화학적 특성 (Electrochemical Characteristic on Lithium Intercalation into the Interface between Organic Electrolyte and Amorphous WO3 Thin Film Prepared by e-beam Evaporation Method)

  • 본 연구에서는 1M $LiClO_4/PC$ 유기 용액 중에 존재하는 리튬 이온의 층간 반응에 의하여 전기 발색 현상을 나타내는 전자-선 증발법으로 제조된 비정질의 텅스텐 산화물 박막과 전해질 계면에서의 전기화학적 특성들을 연구하기 위하여 음극 Tafel 분극법, 순환 전류-전위법 및 전기량 적정법 등의 전기화학 측정법과 X선 회절 분석법을 이용한 박막의 결정 상태 조사 등이 수행되었다. 특히 다중 순환 전류-전위 곡선으로부터 리튬 이온의 층간 반응은 발색 반응에 대한 인가 과전압이 약 1.0V 이내에서는 안정된 소 발색의 가역적 현상을 나타내었으나, 발색 반응에 대한 인가 과전압이 1.5V일 때는 발색 시 삽입된 박막 내부의 리튬이 소색 시 완전히 빠져 나오지 못하여, 박막 내부에 리튬이 축적되는 현상을 나타내었으며, 적은 순환 횟수임에도 불구하고 소 발색의 전류 밀도가 감소되는 것이 조사되어 발색에 필요한 인가 과전압의 한계가 존재함을 알 수 있었다.

GNP법을 이용한 고체산화물 연료전지의 공기극용 La0.75Sr0.25FeO3의 제조 및 특성 (Synthesis and Characterization of La0.75Sr0.25FeO3 Used as Cathode Materials for Solid Oxide Fuel Cell by GNP Method)

  • Glycine Nitrate Process(GNP)를 이용하여 $La_{0.75}Sr_{0.25}FeO_3$를 합성하였다. 이때, GNP의 글리신의 함량은 화학양론식으로 계산하여 3.17mol을 첨가하였다. ICP-AES분석으로 각각의 조성 함량을 조사하고, XRD, SEM분석으로 합성된 분말의 결정성과 입자크기를 분석하였다. 이렇게 분석한 분말은 일축가압 성형으로 펠렛을 제조하였으며, 이 시편은 $1200^{\circ}C$에서 소결하였다. 소결된 시편은 아르키메데스 법을 이용하여 소결밀도를 측정히였다. 전기화학적 성능을 평가하기 위해 AC impedance spectroscopy로 측정하였으며, GNP 법으로 합성된 LSF가 기존의 LSM 보다 낮은 Ohmic resistance및 Polarization resistance를 보임을 확인하였다. 또한 합성된 LSF를 양극으로 사용하여 연료극 지지체식 고체산화물 연료전지의 단위전지를 제작하였으며, 그 성능은 $750^{\circ}C$에서 $342mW/cm^2(0.7V,\;488mA/cm^2)$을 나타내었다. 마지막으로 임피던스 분석에 의하여 단위전지의 전기화학적 분극저항을 평가하였다.

  • The molten carbonate fuel cell has conspicuous feature and high potential in being used as an energy converter of various fuel to electricity and heat. However, the MCFC which use strongly corrosive molten carbonate at $650^{\circ}C$ have many problem. Systematic investigation on corrosion behavior of Fe/20Cr/Ti alloys has been done in (62+38)mol% (Li+K)C03 melt at 923K by using steady state polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy method. And, The research and development for the solid oxide fuel cell have been promoted rapidly and extensively in recent years, because of their high efficiency and future potential. Therefore this paper describes the manufacturing method and characteristics of anode electrode for SOFC, by the way, Ni-YSZ materials are used as anode of SOFC widely. So in this experiments, we investigated the optimum content of Ni, by the impedance characteristics, overvoltage. As a result, the performance of Ni-YSZ anode(40vol%) was better excellent than the others.
