  • The Consultation about Energy Use Plan is prescribed by the Energy Use Rationalization Act. This study calculated the Standard Data for Energy Use Plan of Industry Complex by the 9th Korean Standard Industrial Classification Divisions so that the energy demand reflecting the industrial technology change and characteristics of Manufacturing Divisions would predict. To achieve this aim, analysis on thousands of data in Energy Consumption Report Forms reported from industries which annual consumption of energy exceeds 2,000toe from 2009 to 2010 was carried out. The results showed that calculated overall mean fuel basic unit decrease, electricity basic unit increase and energy basic unit increase compared to that of the Notification No. 2002-130 of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy, therefore it means that heat source of energy facilities transferred from fuel to electricity. Also resultingly suggests that the related notification, code etc. are amended as soon as possible.

  • This article analyzes the effects of energy price increase induced by GHGs mitigation policy on automobile industry empirically. An increase in energy price due to GHGs mitigation policy does not have a significant effect on the production and the value-added in automobile industry. Electricity price has a negative effect on the production and the value-added in automobile industry, but it is not significant. However, employment is significantly affected by a change in electricity price. Export is also affected negatively, but the effect is insignificant. These results imply that GHGs mitigation policy such as carbon tax might affect adversely the employment in automobile industry. Especially, their effects on employment are significant. Therefore, some moderating measures to relieve the adverse effects on employment in automobile industry should be called upon with the implementation of GHGs mitigation policy.

  • We develop a hybrid model which allows the change in electricity generation mix by adding the electricity-sector components of bottom-up model to the conventional CGE model. The electricity sector is represented as a sum of separate generation technologies, each of which has the form of DRTS (Decreasing Returns to Scale) production function, unlike the conventional CGE model. We compare the effects of the 30% emission reduction target using the hybrid model with those using the conventional CGE model. The cost of meeting the target is lower with the hybrid model than the conventional CGE. It is consistent with previous studies in that adding the bottom-up components to the top-down model reduces the cost of emission reduction. In an extra analysis we find that an additional regulation like RPS (Renewable Portfolio Standard) increases the cost.

  • In this paper, a new demand-side evaluation for the technical potential of lighting dimming control and its applications in electricity markets have been presented. The California standard practice test has been widely used to estimate the economic value of demand-side resources. However, as the advent of deregulation and restructuring of power industry, the California test has been facing some limitations to adopt in the new market environments. In particular the conventional DC test is appropriate for the traditional vertically integrated utility, not for the restructured unbundled utility. Thus, this paper presents a new method to evaluate the economic value of demand-side resource, especially of controllable lighting dimming resource in terms of the energy service provider in market environments. We, therefore, first estimate the technical potential of the lighting dimming control and evaluate the value of the lighting dimming control based on the Korean electricity market data in 2006. The study result shows that the lighting dimming control is a cost effective option for the energy service provider.

  • This paper analyzes the effects of nuclear power generation on industrial growth in using the data of 22 manufacturing sectors in 14 nuclear power countries. The hypothesis that the change in the proportion of nuclear power generation in total electricity generation affects industrial value-added and industrial output through industrial electricity price reduction was tested using the dynamic panel data model. First, it was estimated that the increase in nuclear power generation by a 1% leads to a 0.8% reduction in electricity price. The results indicate that when nuclear power generation increased by a 1% point, industrial value-added and output increased by 0.16% and 0.23%,respectively, in the short-run and by 0.51% and 0.85%, respectively, in the long-run. It was also inferred that the effect of nuclear generation on industrial competitiveness working through electricity price reduction rely on institutional settings in the electricity markets. That is, the competitive effect is greater in the countries such as U.K and Japan where electricity price is high and price volatility is large. Meanwhile, in Germany which has pursued phasing out nuclear power, industrial competitiveness is promoted through stable electricity supply.

  • According as level of industry develops day after day, electricity load system of industry requires high level control, effectiveness and high efficiency. Among supply and control unit of suitable power supply in these load characteristic, inverter systems of constant current regulate is used widely control of lighting and electric heating system. Therefore, in this paper proposed an inverter systems with constant current regulation and power factor correction (PFC) circuit for Lighting and Beaconing of Aerodromes. The effectiveness of the proposed system confirmed through experimental results of CCR.
