This paper addresses unit commitment for microgrid optimization including renewable energy sources, working under deregulated power market. As microgrid supplies both heat and electricity for consumer, operational optimization must be done to meet their demand economically. So renewable energy sources are considered to be negative load, and batteries are used as the load flattening device to raise possibly operational function. In the state of solution, the program is developed to solve out the maximum profit of microgrid using dynamic programming method. Finally, its validity is verified through case study in isolation mode and interconnected mode. The S/W will be used to operate microgrid economically after the market of microgrid is formed.

Because of the high increasing rate of load demand these days the necessity of deciding what optimum reserve level is appropriate to most stably supply electricity is being emphasized. This research studies the downward tendency of reserve ratio by analyzing the trend of change of the network scale, reserve, and reserve ratio while optimum reserve has been increased as the network system scale grow up. This means, at this moment 6,000[MW] is optimum level for short term prospect of power supply and demand. And also, it has been analyzed that, as the annual peak load exceeded 50,000[MW], confirming the amount of optimum reserve level is more stable than keeping 10 to 12[%] reserve ratio.
It is essential to introduce EERS (Energy Efficiency Resource Standards) according to the trend of the era in which energy saving is emphasized, and it is time to settle down in a stable manner. Electric motors and lighting devices, which account for more than 60% of the nation's electricity use, are the most effective items of the EERS. And accurate methods of calculating savings must be preceded. In this study, the operation rate and load rate are measured through the demonstration of energy use at 400 businesses and the measured rates are used for EERS savings calculation. The results imply that the proposed method can be successfully applied to calculate cost-effective and reliable energy savings.

In order to produce electric vehicle demand forecasting information, which is an important element of the plan to expand charging facilities for electric vehicles, a model for predicting electric vehicle demand was proposed using Exponential Smoothing. In order to establish input data for the model, the monthly power demand of cities and counties was applied as independent variables, monthly electric vehicle charging stations, monthly electric vehicle charging stations, and monthly electric vehicle registration data. To verify the accuracy of the electric vehicle power demand prediction model, we compare the results of the statistical methods Exponential Smoothing (ETS) and ARIMA models with error rates of 12% and 21%, confirming that the ETS presented in this paper is 9% more accurate as electric vehicle power demand prediction models. It is expected that it will be used in terms of operation and management from planning to install charging stations for electric vehicles using this model in the future.

Tidal current power is one of the energy sources of the ocean. Electricity can be generated by converting the flow energy of the current into the rotational energy of a turbine. Unlike tidal barrage, tidal current power does not require dams, which have a severe environmental impact. A floating-type tidal current power device can reduce the expensive support and installation cost, which usually account for approximately 41% of the total cost. It can also be deployed in relatively deep water using tensioned wires. The dynamic behavior of a floater and turbine force are coupled because the thrust and moment of the turbine affect the floater excursion, and the motion of the floater can affect the incoming speed of the flow into the turbine. To maximize the power generation and stabilize the system, the coupled motion of the floater and turbine must be extensively analyzed. However, unlike pile-fixed devices, there have been few studies involving the motion analysis of a moored-type tidal current power device. In this study, the commercial program OrcaFlex 10.1a was used for a time domain motion analysis. In addition, in-house code was used for an iterative calculation to solve the coupled problems. As a result, it was found that the maximum mooring load of 200 kN and the floater excursion of 5.5 m were increased by the turbine effect. The load that occurred on the mooring system satisfied the safety factor of 1.67 suggested by API. The optimum mooring system for the floating tidal current power device was suggested to maximize the power generation and stability of the floater.
In order to manage the demand resources of project participants and to provide appropriate strategies in the virtual power plant's power trading platform for consumers or operators who want to participate in the distributed resource collective trading market, it is very important to forecast the next day's demand of individual participants and the overall system's electricity demand. This paper developed a power demand forecasting model for the next day. For the model, we used LSTM algorithm of deep learning technique in consideration of time series characteristics of power demand forecasting data, and new scheme is applied by applying one-hot encoding method to input/output values such as power demand. In the performance evaluation for comparing the general DNN with our LSTM forecasting model, both model showed 4.50 and 1.89 of root mean square error, respectively, and our LSTM model showed high prediction accuracy.

Renewable energy resources are rapidly becoming an integral part of electricity generation portfolios around the world due to declining costs, government subsidies, and corporate sustainability goal. Interacting wind, solar, and load forecast errors can create significant unpredictable impacts on the distribution system, feeder congestion, voltage standard and reactive power stability margins. These impacts will be increasing with the increasing penetration levels of variable renewable generation in the power systems. There is a limit to the maximum amount of renewable energy sources that can be connected in a distribution feeder by the connection rule of transmission & distribution facility in Korea. This study represents the decision plans of hosting capacity for distribution feeders without the need for significant upgrades to the existing transmission infrastructure. Especially, the paper suggests and discusses the hosting capacity standard of feeder cables and minimum load calculation of distribution feeders.
In the case of a 900 MW combined cycle power plant, most of the load on the site is a rotating device and is operated at a low power factor, and the power factor decrease increases the reactive power, which causes the efficiency of the device to be consumed and unnecessary unnecessary power consumption. This study intends to present the results by installing and operating a reactive power compensation device that absorbs and removes reactive power, which is a solution to this problem, on a 6.9 kV on-board bus. As a result of application of this system, first, it was confirmed that the power factor of the rotating machine was improved to 0.22 and the load power in the house was reduced by 1.4%, and the thermal efficiency of the generator was increased by 0.1% and the power generation power by 810 kW. Next, it was confirmed that the cost of construction and operation can be reduced in the future due to economic feasibility, with a decrease of 200 million won/year in electricity loss compared to 1.5 billion won in investment, an increase of 1 billion won/year in sales, and a one-year capital recovery period.
With an increase in the commercialization of electricity, and the development of advanced and large electric devices and various wireless radio wave services, concerns over the effects of electromagnetic fields on human health have increased. Accordingly, the World Health Organization encouraged the development of international standards by establishing the 'International Electromagnetic Fields Project' in 1996 based on studies on the harmful effects of electromagnetic fields on the human body. Moreover, the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) classified electromagnetic fields as possible carcinogens under Group 2B category, even though they have been found to have a weak correlation with those effects on human health. Mid-to-large-sized electric facilities used at industrial sites mostly adopt a commercial frequency of 60 Hz, and workers handling these facilities are exposed to such extremely low frequency (ELF) fields for a long time. A previous study suggested that exposure to ELF electromagnetic fields with frequency ranges from 0 to 300 Hz, even for a short time, at densities higher than 100 μT may have harmful effects on human body as it affects the activation of nerve cells in the central nervous system by inducing an electric field and current and stimulating muscles and the nervous system in the body. Such studies, however, focused on home appliances used by ordinary people, and research on facilities utilizing high-capacity current and operated by workers at industrial sites is lacking. Therefore, in this study, a 3000 kilowatt generator, which is a high-capacity electric facility employed at industrial sites, was investigated, and the size of the magnetic fields generated during its no-load and high-load operations per distance to produce a map was measured to reveal spots deemed hazardous according to domestic and international exposure standards. The findings of this study is expected to alleviate workers' anxiety about the harmful effects of magnetic fields on their body and to minimize the level of exposure during operations.

Piezoelectric energy harvesting technologies, which can be used to convert the electricity from the mechanical energy, have been developed in order to assist or power the wearable electronics. To realize non-toxic and biocompatible electronics, the lead-free (Ba0.85Ca0.15)(Ti0.90Zr0.10)O3 (BCTZ) nanoparticles (NPs) are being studied with a great attention as flexible energy harvesting device. Herein, piezoelectric hybrid nanocomposites were fabricated using BCTZ NPs-embedded poly(vinylidene fluoride-trifluoroethylene) [P(VDF-TrFE)] matrix to improve the performance of flexible energy harvester. Output performance of the fabricated energy device was investigated by the well-optimized measurement system during the periodically bending and releasing motions. The generated open-circuit voltage and the short-circuit current of the piezoelectric hybrid nanocomposite-based energy harvester reached up to ~15 V and ~1.1 ㎂, respectively; moreover, the instantaneous power of 3.5 ㎼ is determined from load voltage and current at the external load of 20 MΩ. This research is expected to cultivate a new approach to high-performance wearable self-powering electronics.
