Development of Representative Curves for Classified Demand Patterns of the Electricity Customer

  • Introducing the market into the electricity industry lets the multiple participants get into new competition. These multiple participants of the market need new business strategies for providing value added services to customer. Therefore they need the accurate customer information about the electricity demand. Demand characteristic is the most important one for analyzing customer information. In this study load profile data, which can be collected through the Automatic Meter Reading System, are analyzed for getting demand patterns of customer. The load profile data include electricity demand in 15 minutes interval. An algorithm for clustering similar demand patterns is developed using the load profile data. As results of classification, customers are separated into several groups. And the representative curves for the groups are generated. The number of groups is automatically generated. And it depends on the threshold value for distance to separate groups. The demand characteristics of the groups are discussed. Also, the compositions of demand contracts and standard industrial classification in each group are presented. It is expected that the classified curves will be used for tariff design, load forecasting, load management and so on. Also it will be a good infrastructure for making a value added service related to electricity.

일반 투자가에 의한 발전소 건설 Cycle과 DSM (The Construction Cycle by Investors and DSM in the Electricity Wholesale Market)

  • This paper describes the forecast of wholesale price in competitive Korean electricity market using the system dynamics approach. The system dynamics concepts have been implemented with the Ithink software. This software facilitates the development of stock and flow model with information feedback. Using this model, the future wholesale electricity price can be computed hour by hour, quarterly, and yearly. This model also gives the energy planner the opportunity to create different scenarios for the future of deregulated wholesale markets in Korea. Also It will lead to increased understanding of competitive wholesale market as a complex, dynamic system. Research results show that the plant construction appeared in waves of boom and bust in Korean electricity market like real estate construction. That is, the Korea wholesale market's new power plants and the market price will appear the Boom and Bust cycle. It is very similar behavior as real estate industry. In case of consideration of DSM program, The DSM savings lead to a somewhat different timing of the booms in construction and of price spikes. But the DSM programs do not eliminated the fundamental dynamics of the boom and bust. And the wholesale price is maintained at the lower level compared to the case of without DSM program. However, the unexpected result is found that due to the lower market price, Investor make significantly less investment in new CCs, which leads to the higher wholesale price after 2010. It suggests that the DSM Policy must be implemented with the dynamics of competitive Electricity Market.

학교 건축에 대한 BIPV시스템의 성능 평가 (Performance Evaluation of BIPV Systems Applied in School Buildings)

  • Building-integrated photovoltaic(BIPV) systems can operate as a multi-functional building components, which generates electricity and serves as part of building envelope. It can be regarded as a new architectural elements, adding to the building's aesthetics. Besides of these benefits, the application of PV systems into school buildings tends to play an important role in energy education to students. In this context, this study aims to analyse the applicability of PV systems into school buildings. For an existing school building, four types of BIPV designs were developed; rooftops, wall-attached, wall-mounted with angle, and sunshading device. Based on energy modeling of those BIPV systems, the whole 60.1kWp rated PV installation is expected to yield about 65.6MWh of electricity, that is about 50% more than the annual electricity consumption of the school, 44MWh. It was also found that the applicability of the PV systems into the school building was very high, and the rooftop systems with the optimized angle was the most efficient in energy production, followed by sunshading, wall-mounted with angle and wall-attached. It concludes that school buildings have a reasonable potential to apply PV systems in the aspects of building elements and electricity production.

석탄화력 발전 대비 수력 발전에 대한 국민 선호도 분석 (Public Preferences for Replacing Hydro-Electricity Generation with Coal-Fired Power Generation)

  • 석탄화력 발전은 기저발전원으로서 전력을 안정적으로 공급하는 역할을 해왔으나 전력을 생산하여 공급하는 과정에서 다양한 사회적 비용을 발생시킨다. 기후변화에 대응하기 위하여 석탄화력 발전의 비중을 낮추고 저탄소 발전원의 비중을 늘릴 필요가 있다. 이에 본 연구는 대표적인 재생에너지인 수력발전으로 석탄화력 발전의 전력생산을 대체하는 것에 대한 국민들의 지불의사액을 추정해 보고자 한다. 이를 위하여 비시장 재화를 대표하는 기법인 조건부 가치측정법을 적용하였으며, 영의 지불의사액(willingness to pay, WTP)을 명시적으로 다루기 위하여 스파이크 모형을 적용하였다. 분석결과, 석탄화력 발전으로 공급받는 전기를 수력 발전으로 대체하기 위한 국민들의 추가적 WTP 평균값은 1kWh당 약 54원으로 추정되었다. 이러한 연구결과는 발전원의 환경적 가치를 활용하는 연구 및 발전원 구성에 있어 중요한 참고자료로 활용될 수 있다.

  • 전력 공급과 전기안전은 전체 시스템과 네트워크에 대한 필수적인 요소이다. 전기안전기술은 u-IT, u-City 기반 기술의 발전과 함께 전력 u-IT 융복합화 제품개발은 제품에 대한 평가와 인증에 관한 연구가 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 전력기기와 u-IT기기의 융복합화 제품을 u-City에 적용시킬 전기안전 통합감시시스템을 개발하기 위해, 전력기기 단말에서 가장 많이 사용되는 아울렛에서 접속불량 검출장치가 내장된 전력 u-IT 융복합화 기기를 만들었다. 또한 전기안전 통합감시시스템에서의 원격 안전점검을 위한 ZigBee, RFID의 센서를 이용하여 통신모듈과 제품의 기능에 대한 성능 평가를 하고, 누전, 고전압, Arc, 화재 검출 센서 진단 시스템에서 성능 실험 및 평가를 하여 적합판정을 받은 제품은 KS, 전기안전제품 인증을 한다.

국내 계약종별 전기요금 체계의 가격신호 회복에 따른 환경편익 분석 (An Analysis of the Environmental Benefits of the Price Signal Recovery under the Current Electricity Tariff in Korea)

  • 국내 전기요금 체계는 연료비 인상 등 원가 변동에 연계될 수 있는 제도적 근거가 마련되어 있음에도 물가상승 등 국민경제적 부담 등을 고려해 적기에 인상되지 못하는 상황이 발생하고 있다. 이처럼 전기요금이 정상적으로 조정되지 않음에 따라 우리나라 전기요금은 전 세계적으로 낮은 수준을 기록하고 있으며, 가격신호 전달 기능을 상실해 비효율적인 전력소비가 발생하는 문제점이 있다. 본 연구는 2017~2020년 연료비와 발전원별 발전량 등 실적 자료를 바탕으로 계약종별 전력의 공급원가(총괄원가) 수준을 추산하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 2030년 전기요금이 조정되어 가격신호 왜곡 문제가 해소될 경우 전력소비가 얼마나 변화하는지를 추정해 보았다. 추정 결과 전기요금이 공급원가(총괄원가)를 모두 회수할 수 있는 수준으로 조정된다면 전력소비는 9,000GWh 가량 절감될 것으로 나타났다. 이는 발전 부문의 온실가스 배출량을 약 3.82백만CO2ton 감축시키는 효과로 이어졌다.

주거자 만족도를 고려한 주택 에너지관리 시스템의 부하제어 방법 연구 (A Study on Load Control Method for Home Energy Management System (H-EMS) Considering the Human Comfort)

  • The effective energy management method will provide the significant advantage to the residential customers under real time pricing plan since it can reduce the electricity charge by controlling the energy consumption according to electricity rate. The earlier studies for load management mainly aim to minimize the electricity charges and peak power but put a less emphasis on the human comfort dwelling in the residence. The discomfort and displeasure from the energy management only focusing on reduction of electricity charge will make the residential customer reluctant to enroll the real time pricing plan. In this paper, therefore, we propose optimal load control strategy which aim to achieve not only minimizing the electricity charges but also maintaining human comfort by introducing "the human comfort coefficient." Using the human comfort coefficient, the energy management system can reflect the various human personality and control the loads within the range that the human comfort is maintained. Simulation results show that proposed load control strategy leads to significant reduction in the electricity charges and peak power in comparison with the conventional load management method.

  • This paper presents a new algorithm for the allocation of the reliability level of composite power system under deregulated electricity market. Under deregulated electricity market, it is required to establish a methodology that can evaluate supply cost and supply reliability of each demand to realize the available priority service reflected a preference of each customer. In this study, a concept of reliability differentiated electricity service as priority service to keep reliability of particular customer within a desirable level is proposed on HLII under deregulated competitive electricity market. The uncertainties of not only generators but also transmission lines are considered for the reliability evaluation in this study. The characteristics and effectiveness of this methodology are illustrated by the case studies on MRBTS and IEEE-RTS.

단독주택 태양광 발전과 냉방수요를 반영한 전력 최적운용 전략 연구 (Study on Optimal Control Algorithm of Electricity Use in a Single Family House Model Reflecting PV Power Generation and Cooling Demand)

  • An optimization algorithm is developed based on a simulation case of a single family house model equipped with PV arrays. To increase the nationwide use of PV power generation facilities, a market-competitive electricity price needs to be introduced, which is determined based on the time of use. In this study, quadratic programming optimization was applied to minimize the electricity bill while maintaining the indoor temperature within allowable error bounds. For optimization, it is assumed that the weather and electricity demand are predicted. An EnergyPlus-based house model was approximated by using an equivalent RC circuit model for application as a linear constraint to the optimization. Based on the RC model, model predictive control was applied to the management of the cooling load and electricity for the first week of August. The result shows that more than 25% of electricity consumed for cooling can be saved by allowing excursions of temperature error within an affordable range. In addition, profit can be made by reselling electricity to the main grid energy supplier during peak hours.

송전 혼잡처리방법 변경이 시장 참여자 수익에 미치는 영향 분석 (Analysis of the Economic Impact of the Change in Congestion Management in the Korean Electricity Market)

  • 국내 전력시장에서 현 혼잡처리방법은 혼잡비용(congestion cost)을 부가비용(uplift)형태로 전력 사용량에 비례하여 시장 전체의 모든 소비자가 부담하고 있다. 반면 다수의 해외 전력시장에서 채택하고 있는 지역한계가격 (Locational Margnal Pricing)방식은 혼잡으로 인한 비용을 시장 참여자들에게 차등적으로 배분하고 있다. 현재 국내 전력시장에서는 송전 혼잡처리방법의 변경으로 인한 시장참여자 수익에 미치는 영향에 대한 체계적인 연구가 미흡한 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 혼잡처리방법의 변경이 국내 전력시장의 소비자 비용과 발전기 잉여에 미치는 영향에 대해서 분석한다.
