소프트웨어 안전성 평가를 위한 소프트웨어 고장 유형과 영향 분석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Software Fault Modes and Effect Analysis for Software Safety Evaluation)

  • 오늘날 대다수의 안전필수 시스템들(Safety-Critical Systems)에는 컴퓨터, 전기 및 전자 부품이나 장치들에 소프트웨어를 칩에 내장하거나 제어용 소프트웨어 시스템이 탑재되어 구축되고 있다. 이에 따라, 컴퓨터 소프트웨어를 내장하였거나 탑재한 시스템들의 안전성을 평가하기 위한 여러 가지의 결함 분석 기법들이 제안되어져 오고 있다. 이러한 소프트웨어 결함 분석 기법들은 전통적으로는 하나의 안전필수 시스템을 분석하는데 단지 하나의 방법으로만 분석해 왔으나, 시스템의 종류와 특성이 다양해지면서 그 시스템에 가장 알맞은 결함 분석 기법이 동원되어야 함은 필수적이다. 본 연구에서는, 안전필수 시스템에서 소프트웨어의 크기가 비교적 작고, 안전성과 관련한 시스템 제어 반응 시간이 특별히 민감하지 않는 소프트웨어의 안전성을 평가하는 방법으로 결함트리 분석(FTA)과 소프트웨어 고장 유형 및 영향 분석(FMEA)을 결합한 시스템 결함 분석 방법을 제안하고 유비쿼터스 헬스케어 시스템을 이용하여 사례연구를 수행하고자 한다.

태양전지셀의 본질안전 방폭성능 평가 (The Intrinsic Safety Evaluation of Solar Photovoltaic Cell)

  • Now the world will regulate the CO2 emission due to environmental issues. For an alternative plan photovoltaic system is watched. So, photovoltaic system is trend of big city and it is mandatory for renovation of construction. Oil & gas filling station existed in city is suitable to found the photovoltaic system. But the general photovoltaic system in oil & gas filling station is difficult to found because it is classified into hazardous area. This paper evaluates intrinsic safety evaluation of solar cell for making basic data to found for the photovoltaic system on hazardous area. The intrinsic safety characteristic is evaluated by short-circuit ignition test using IEC type spark ignition test apparatus and temperature rising test. The result of short-circuit ignition test, propane-air mixture gas is exploded on condition that 4 solar cells(9[V], 90[mA]) are connected serially under insolation 800[W/$m^2$]. So, if a larger solar module will be used at oil & gas filling station than we were tested, it needs explosion proof. As the result of rising temperature test, the temperature rising due to short circuit is not so much, but when the temperature rises due to radiant heat, it demands careful consideration for environmental influence.

Development of Web-based Design Review System for Reliability and Safety Knowledge Management

  • This paper describes a web-based design review system as a knowledge management system relating reliability and safety system design. Since people's consciousness for safety and security become sensitive and increases the need of establishing a proactive prevention method for internal failures and relating risks in products. It also means that prevailing tacit knowledge in retired workers, in order to transform them to be easily used to support new system development, become more important. When considering safety and reliability design, at least two data sheet are necessary; Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (FMEA) and Risk Assessment (RA). These two data are practically made separately. However, it includes the concerns that a risk by failures during long-term use may not be noticed. To overcome this insufficiency, a support tool for integrating reliability evaluation and risk assessment data simultaneously is expected to be revealed. The authors have then developed a web-based design review system for reliability and safety system design. The system include various profitable functions; making FMEA and RA sheet, retrieving past data sheet for engineering change management and new product development and web-based discussion to increase the efficiency of discussion. The system is applied to one practical development works in order to demonstrate its effectiveness that is to be made clear by interviewing user's qualitative comment.

  • Transmission loss retains a complete set of system state information. If we could exploit its behavior, we could find various useful applications. This study is a such exploitation to find same possibilities of the loss application. It seems to have very prospective possibilities. It has been tried to establish some network indices to indicate operation margin. And further some prospective applications are suggested.

Performances of the Directional Control Solenoid Valve for a Combined Power Plant

  • Recently, the combined power plants are refocused rapidly as a replaceable energy system of the nuclear power plant. The large turbine is revolved highly at 1800~3600 rpm. Thus, the turbine speed should be monitored with mechanical and electrical method for a safety. The electrical cutoff valve which blocks the flow channel with the electrical signal is with a built in. The aim of this study is to develop a manufacturing technology through by the localization of a solenoid actuated directional control valve. Especially the results show performances of the solenoid valve by the experiments and modeling and the reliability estimation. Applied load port pressure was changed rapidly on the form of a quadratic curve over time. And in the cases of square waveform when 0~100 V and 20~120 V input voltage, it was driven on a stable state until 13.4 Hz and 16.6 Hz, respectively. We think that this study will give useful data for the electricity safety system of the combined power plant gas turbine.

  • According to the computerization of railway signalling systems, the safety demonstration and assessment of railway signalling system is very important. For this reason, railway signalling systems reflect the needs of methodology to assessment the safety. Then many studies of safety assessment methodology for railway signalling systems centering on the Europe, have been made continuously, and the requirements for safety acceptance are currently standardized by IEC. To develop and establish the safety assessment technology for railway signalling system in Korea, we are reviews the safety assessment activities for signalling system through the reviews of related std., case study and consulting by experts.

  • The train control system using radio is based on the radio communication between an on-board control system and a ground control system unlike other train control systems that rely on track circuit. To realize a new train control system based on a new principle, it is important to analyze safety in a systematic manner at an early stage, and identify important factors for the system. For this reason, we think a procedure that select hazards and identify their causes and allocate safety requirements to such hazards. This paper describes this procedure to realize system safety.

Quantitative Reliability Assessment for Safety Critical System Software

  • At recent times, an essential issue in the replacement of the old analogue I&C to computer-based digital systems in nuclear power plants becomes the quantitative software reliability assessment. Software reliability models have been successfully applied to many industrial applications, but have the unfortunate drawback of requiring data from which one can formulate a model. Software that is developed for safety critical applications is frequently unable to produce such data for at least two reasons. First, the software is frequently one-of-a-kind, and second, it rarely fails. Safety critical software is normally expected to pass every unit test producing precious little failure data. The basic premise of the rare events approach is that well-tested software does not fail under normal routine and input signals, which means that failures must be triggered by unusual input data and computer states. The failure data found under the reasonable testing cases and testing time for these conditions should be considered for the quantitative reliability assessment. We presented the quantitative reliability assessment methodology of safety critical software for rare failure cases in this paper.

반주기 변조된 송신파형과 대지전위 측정을 이용한 지중 케이블 누전 고장점 탐지 시스템 (Electric Leakage Point Detection System of Underground Power Cable Using Half-period Modulated Transmission Waveform and Earth Electric Potential Measurement)

  • The precise detection of electric leakage point of underground power cable is very important to reduce cost and time of maintenance and prevent electric shock accident through expedite repair of electric leakage point. This paper proposes a electric leakage point detection system underground power cable using of half-period modulated transmission waveform and earth electric potential measurement. The developed system is composed of transmitter to generate the wanted pulse waveform, receiver to measure and display earth electric potential by the transmitted pulse in electric leakage point and PC Software program to display of GPS coordinate on detection cable line. The performance of the electric leakage point detection system was tested in the constructed underground cable leakage detection test bed. The test results on signal generation voltage precision of signal transmitter, mean detection earth voltage, mean detection leakage current and electric leakage point detection error showed the developed system can be used in electric leakage point detection underground power cable.

원전 안전필수 계측제어시스템의 주기적 자동고장검출기능에 따른 고장허용 평가모델 (The Fault Tolerant Evaluation Model due to the Periodic Automatic Fault Detection Function of the Safety-critical I&C Systems in the Nuclear Power Plants)

  • This study suggests a generalized availability and safety evaluation model to evaluate the influences to the system's fault tolerant capabilities depending on automatic fault detection function such as the automatic periodic testings. The conventional evaluation model of automatic fault detection function deals only with the self diagnostics, and supposes that the fault detection coverage of self diagnostics is always constant. But all of the fault detection methods could be degraded. For example, the periodic surveillance test has the potential human errors or test equipment errors, the self diagnostics has the potential degradation of built-in logics, and the automatic periodic testing has the potential degradation of automatic test facilities. The suggested evaluation models have incorporated the loss or erroneous behaviors of the automatic fault detection methods. The availability and the safety of each module of the safety grade platform have been evaluated as they were applied the automatic periodic test methodology and the fault tolerant evaluation models. The availability and safety of the safety grade platform were improved when applied the automatic periodic testing. Especially the fault tolerant capability of the processor module with a weak self-diagnostics and the process parameter input modules were dramatically improved compared to the conventional cases. In addition, as a result of the safety evaluation of the digital reactor protection system, the system safety of the digital parts was improved about 4 times compared to the conventional cases.
