Propagation Neural Networks based on vision techniques for detecting of Faulty Insulator (불량애자 검출을 위한 비젼 기반 전파 신경망)

  • For detecting of Faulty Insulator, a new Lateral Information Propagation Networks (LIPN) has been proposed. Energized insulator is reduced the rate of insulation extremely, and taken the results dirty and injured. It is necessary to be actions that detect the faulty insulator and exchange the new one. And thus, we have designed the LIPN to be detected that insulators by the real time computation method through the inter-node diffusion. In the network, a node corresponds to a state in the quantized input space. Each node is composed of a processing unit and fixed weights from its neighbor nodes as well as its input terminal. Information propagates among neighbor nodes laterally and inter-node interpolation is achieved. Through several simulation experiments,real time reconstruction of the nonlinear image information is processed.

  • Recently polymer insulators are being used for outdoor high voltage applications. Polymer insulators for transmission line have significant advantages over porcelain and glass insulators, especially for ultra-high voltage transmission lines. Their advantages are light weight, vandalism resistance and hydrophobicity. Polymer insulators are a relatively new technology, but their expected life is still unknown. Therefore these estimating technique are very important. Their life time is related to weathering and operating condition. Multi-aging test is requested because aging factor is occurred by multi-aging than unique aging. The aging test about polymer insulators have mainly carried out by IEC 61109. This paper presents multi-stress chamber experiments and tracking wheel test to examine the tracking and erosion performance of polymer insulator for transmission. Multi-stress testing is able to demonstrate deficiencies of polymer insulator materials and designs, including the nature of interfaces in insulation design. We have investigated IEC 61109 Annex C (5000h aging test) and CEA tracking wheel test as test methods of artificial accelerated aging. The aging degree of polymer insulator is estimated by leakage current, measurement of hydrophobicity degree, damage conditions of insulator surface, withstand voltage test etc.

Image Analysis by CNN Technique for Maintenance of Porcelain Insulator (자기애자의 유지 관리를 위한 CNN 기법을 이용한 이미지 분석)

  • This study examines the feasibility of the image deep learning method using convolution neural networks (CNNs) to maintain a porcelain insulator. Data augmentation is performed to prevent over-fitting, and the classification performance is evaluated by training the age, material, region, and pollution level of the insulator using image data in which the background and labelling are removed. Based on the results, it was difficult to predict the age, but it was possible to classify 76% of the materials, 60% of the pollution level, and more than 90% of the regions. From the results of this study, we identified the potential and limitations of the CNN classification for the four groups currently classified. However, it was possible to detect discoloration of the porcelain insulator resulting from physical, chemical, and climatic factors. Based on this, it will be possible to estimate the corrosion of the cap and discoloration of the porcelain caused by environmental deterioration, abnormal voltage, and lightning.

Influence of Partial Discharge Properties due to Void in Cable Joint Parts (케이블 접속재 부분방전 특성에 미치는 보이드의 영향)

  • To investigate the partial discharge and electric field distribution in cable joint parts, we measured the partial discharge and electric field in specimen. The specimens which cross-linked polyethylene(XLPE) and ethylene propylene diene ethylene(EPDM) are used to insulating material for underground cable md cable jointing parts. The polymers are used to insulating material in switchgear which is a kind of transformer equipment and in ultra-high voltage cable. Its using is increasing gradually, the electrical insulation properties are not only excellent but also mechanical property is excellent. And because it is possible to be made void of several type in insulator while it is produced, which the electrical field distribution is changed by void, it has a critical influence to insulator performance. The underground cable is connecting by the jointing material, insulating breakdown and the electric ageing which are caused by several mixing impurity and the damage of cable insulator layer, which reduced the life of cable while intermediate joint kit is connected. Therefore, the computer simulation is used to estimating insulator performance, XLPE is used to the insulating material of ultra-high voltage cable and EPDM is used to insulator layer in joint material kit, and which are produced as specimen. And it is analyzed the electric field concentrating distribution and partial discharge by modeling of computer simulation in void and cable joint kit.

  • Recently, the polymer insulators which are being used for high voltage applications have some advantages such as light weight, small size, vandalism resistance, hydrophobicity and easy making process. During outdoor service of polymer insulators, the surface of the insulating material is frequently subjected to moisture and contamination which lead to the well known phenomenon of dry band arcing. Their tracking resistance, erosion resistance, end sealing and shed design are very important because dry band arcing causes degradation of polymer surface. The shape design of porcelain insulator is formalized but design standard for polymer insulator is no standardized up to now, much research is necessary in real condition. In this paper, the aging property of polymer insulator with shed shape(regular, alternative type) is analyzed through numerical analysis, CEA(canadian electricity association) tracking wheel test and IEC 61109 Annex C.

  • In this thesis, the partial discharge according to applied voltage and variations of cross-sectional area and length of the conductor related to general condition for using cable was measured in order to study degradation diagnosis for 2-Core cable of the PVC insulator used in industrial fields for other safety installations. Also the thermal degradation conditions under various installation circumstances of cables were studied by assuming degradation conditions with each different degradation rate (50%, 67%, 100%) such as variation in degradated temperature, thermal exposure time, normal state, partially degradated state and overall degradated state for thermal degradation diagnosis. The quantity of electric discharge (V-Q) according to applied voltage was measured for measurement of inception voltage and extinction voltage. The quantity of electric discharge and the number of electric discharge (Q-N) were measured with applied voltage kept constantly. In addition, pictures were taken using SEM (scanning electron microscope) to compare the surface of external insulator to degradated state of internal insulator according to thermal degradation temperature and also compare the surface of external insulator to degradated surface state of internal insulator according exposure time of cables to thermal stress.

  • Studies and measurements of open circuit voltage in a metal/insulator/metal structure where metal are electrodes, when the insulator molecules have dipole moments all oriented parallel to each other have been reported here. The measured voltage has been shown to be directed related to the dipole moment of the molecules in the films. The insulator ultra thin films was deposited on them by the Langmuir-Blodgett technique to obtain the structure referred to as z type and Hetero structure of LB films.

  • This paper introduces a technique of shifting the resonant frequency and of depressing the spurious modes in the composite piezoelectric vibrator laminated in the order of piezoelectric vibrator/thin insulator/piezoelectric vibrator, whose vibrators have the the same sizes and the same properties, respectively. The composite vibrator has shown the characteristics that the fundermental resonant frequency has decreased and spurious modes have depressed with increase of the capacitance of the inserted insulator. And the frequency characteristics of the composite vibrator without insulator have been nearly the same as those of each vibrator.

  • In examining application of polymer as electrical insulators, it is very important to perform accelerated aging test substituted the process which polymer insulator is degraded for long-time by the process of short-time. The purpose of this paper is to examine the properties of water degradation which affect on the efficiency of epoxy insulator. To do this, the surface properties on epoxy insulating material have been investigated after long-time accelerated degradation in boiling water condition. The experimental results showed the contact angle and surface resistivity after treatment to decrease the sample of water treatment. In dielectric properties, dielectric constant was increased by the aging development with water treatments.

  • Electrical treeing occurrence is caused by some defect in solid insulator. Those are accompany the PD(partial discharge) occurrence. And lifetime of the insulator is affected by PD. So, detection of electrical treeing is important thing as this view. Especially, detection of the end treeing is more important and have meaning for industrial engineering because concerned with maintenance and replacement of equipment. In this paper, evaluation of treeing process were studied and PCA(principle component analysis)-LDA(linear discriminant analysis) as classification method were used. The result is present the good recognition.
