A Study on the Size and the Shape Optimization of Cross Beam for Electric Vehicle using GENESIS 7.0 (GENESIS 7.0을 이용한 전동차용 크로스 빔의 치수와 형상 최적화에 관한 연구)

  • Electric vehicle body has to be subjected to uniform load and demand auxiliary equipment such as air pipe, electric wire pipe and gas pipe. Especially, lightweight vehicle body is salutary to save operating costs and fuel consumption. Cross beam supports the weight of passenger and electrical equipments and account for the most of weight of vehicle body. Therefore this study performs the size and the shape optimization of crossbeam for electric vehicle using GENESIS 7.0 and presents the effect of mass reduction and the shape of hole in cross beam.

Especially, the cross beam supports the weight of passenger and electrical equipments. a lightweight vehicle body is salutary to save operating costs and fuel consumption. Therefore this study is to perform the size and the shape optimization of crossbeam for electric vehicle using the method of topology optimization to introduce the concept of homogenization based on optimality criteria method which is efficient for the problem having the number of design variables and a few boundary condition. this provides the method to determine the optimum position and shape of circular hole in the cross beam and then can achieve the optimal design to reduce weight.

  • This paper presents a method to determine parameters of BTB (back-to-back) converters in terms of the enhancement of interface flow margins. Interface flow margin is by definition a measure of how much active power can be transferred from the external areas to the study area with the fixed load demand, and it is mainly constrained by system voltage stability. BTB converters are controllable equipments with the active power flow through them, and its DC link in fact can divide the AC systems at the location and hence can reduce the fault current level. This paper first cals margin sensitivities at the nose point of F-V curves and formulates an optimization problem to update the BTB parameters to improve the margins. This procedure is repeated performed until the required margin enhancement is achieved.

Especially, the cross beam supports the weight of passenger and electrical equipments. This need to use adaptive design in initial design stage to gain economy through interchangeability between many kinds of components. This study performs the topology optimization by the concept of homogenization based on optimality criteria method which is efficient for the problem with a number of boundary condition and design variable. Therefore this provides the method to determine the optimum position and the shape of circular hole in the cross beam and then can achieve the weight minimization of electric vehicle body.

  • An important aspects of power system design involves consideration of service reliability requirements of load to be supplied and service reliability provided by any proposed system. This paper shows the investigation of the 1984 KEPCO service reliability to the large electric consumer whose contracted maximum demand is over 500 kw. 68 customers of the total 111 investigated are located in Myungdong area and Yuido in Seoul. Of the customers are included hotel Lotte, Giobo and Seoul national University Hospital. The average service reliability of Myungdong area customers is 316min/yr/customer and about 7 times/yr/customer, and 160 min, 6 times for Yuido. Which the service reliability the interruption and the interruption frequency which caused by the customers receiving facilities were showed. The investigation is telling that the service reliability of the underground distribution area are very superior to the other area reliability. The investigated reliability seem not appropriate to be improved by change of distribution System as well as equipments and facilities improvement in the near future.

  • A speed control system of the induction motor drives by the load commutated current source inverter is studied in this paper. In general, since the rotating equipments such as pumps, fans and blowers do not require necessarily the accurate speed control performance, a voltage control and a speed sensorless vector control systems are mainly used for this application. In this paper, a new control scheme which has better performance than the voltage control system and simpler control structures than the vector control system is presented. This new proposed method controls the angle of the current vector using the relationship between the inverter output voltage and current, as well as uses the simple method to compensate the effect of the output capacitors.

  • Islanding of PV systems occurs when the utility grid is removed but local sources continue to operate and provide power to local loads. Islanding is one of the serious problems in an electric power system connected with dispersed power sources. Also, this can present safety hazards and the possibility of damage to other electric equipments. If the real and reactive power of RLC load and PV system are closely matched, islanding phenomena can't be detected by the passive methods. Several active methods were proposed to detect islanding phenomena. The most effective method is SFS method which was suggested by Sandia National Laboratory. In this paper, a new anti-islanding algorithm is proposed and its validity is verified through simulation and experimental results for utility interconnection of PV system.

  • The Back Up Breaker and Making Switch are very important equipments for the short circuit test facility, and contacts are the most important parts of the above switches. There are very many kind of contacts according to switches characteristic and should be done the verification test before use, especially development contacts. This study describes the class of switches, arc chute, material of whole contacts and essential test for verification. The essential test for verification are dielectric test, mechanical operation test, short-time withstand current test, load current breaking test, and short-circuit making current test etc.

  • The proposed method offers an improved control method for high power density AC/DC adapter by using more energy efficient electrical equipments. Power factor corrector (PFC) topology is based on boost topology with boundary conduction mode (BCM). DC/DC topology is based on half-bridge topology with newly introduced off-time control method, which helps to reduce size of the semiconductor and the magnetic devices. Test results with 85W AC/DC adapter (18.5V/4.6A) design shows that the measured efficiency is 90% with power density of $36W/in^3$. It also show low no load power consumption of about 0.5W.
