  • As the use of capacitors in electrical appliances and electrical control circuits increases, the related electrical fire is increasing. There are various parts such as resistors, coils, and capacitors that make up an electric circuit. Among them, the ignition of a capacitor with a temporary charging function is closely related to the structural characteristics of the capacitor. Capacitors can explode due to various reasons, and the high heat generated when they explode ignites the inflammable dielectric, which in turn burns the inflammable materials such as the surrounding electric wires and spreads into a fire. In this paper, the ignition mechanism is studied by conducting a reenactment experiment on the various probabilities that can be ignited in an electric capacitor, and the prevention measures to be applied to the fire prevention are presented.

  • In this paper, design feature and operation characteristics of compact Ruby laser for plasma diagonostics are described. A linear Xe flashlamp and a single elliptical cavity are adopted as optical pumping system. With charging energy of 484J, the maximum output energy of 170mJ, laser pulse width $110{\mu}s$, and slope efficiency 0.09% were obtained. If Q-switch system is added to this laser, we suppose this laser will be quite enough for diagonizing plasma.

  • The thermostimulated discharge currents of low-density polyethylene electrets were measured versus the principal experimental variables. Several electrode types were used for the charging and discharging procedures. The results led to know the experimental conditions for the heterocharge and homocharge accumulating and decreasing. The electronic structure parameters of polyethylene such as trap level, density of traps, hopping length, mobility, trap time constants were deduced. A method for evaluating the local electric field inside the electret is proposed.

  • 본 연구는 출력단에 패캐시터를 갖고 있는 AC 전류원으로부터, 밧데리 충전을 위한 새로운 AC/DC 컨버터 회로를 제안한다. 영전압과 영전류 스위칭을 사용하여 컨버터의 소형화 및 고효율화를 추구하였고, 풀브리지 MOSFET 정류기와 Buck-boost 컨버터가 결합된 새로운 토폴로지의 회로를 구성하였다. 제안된 컨버터의 동작원리 및 동작모드를 해석하고, PSpicc 시뮬레이션을 통해 해석결과를 검증하였다.

  • In this paper the operation of a N2 laser using corona-preionization and capacitor transfer type excitation circuit is discussed. The laser tube is 24 cm in length and the distance between the electrodes is 1.5 cm. The charging voltage was kept constant 10 KV. This laser can be operated with a range of repetition rate 1 $\sim$ 30 Hz.

  • A computer simulation code of UV preionized discharge KrF laser is developed, including time dependent circuit equations, boltzmann equations, and plasma kinetic equations for various atomic and molecular species. Rate constants for electron collision processes are calculated with a boltzmann equations as a function of E/N. In this study, we studied mainly the $KrF^*$ formation process, relaxation process, and the 248nm absorption process as a function of charging voltage.

  • Me performed an experiment about preionization electron number density of charge transfer type KrF excimer laser. At the total pressure of 1.8 and 2.2 atm with helium (He) buffer gas, the experimental range of the electron number density is 8-9 ${\times}$ 10 cm The distance between electrode and preionization pin is 15 mJ at charging voltage of 27kV,gas pressure of 2.2 atm,gas mixture of F /Kr/He = 0.3/396.7(%).

  • In this paper, we designed and fabricated a fast switching system for high power pulse. This system consists of a voltage conversion circuit, high voltage charging circuit, trigger circuit, and discharging circuit. Especially discharging line is designed by strip-line for low inductance and resistance. The experimental result is that current slew rate of the system is 6.67kA/86ns and this result is fully qualified for initiating EBW or EFI

  • KEPRI developed digital excitation system for San-Cheong pumped storage power plant. This is the very complicated system because of operation connected with SFC(Static Frequency Converter). Many operation modes(stating, regeneration, back to back, line charging, gird connection mode etc) during the commissioning were successfully tested at san-Cheong #2.
