Design of the Hybrid Optical Pickup Actuator by Numerical Simulation of Heat Transfer (열전달 수치해석에 의한 하이브리드 광픽업 액추에이터의 설계)

  • Recently, in optical storage device technical trends, the size of optical drive is slimmer to adopt notebook computer and the power of actuator is higher to achieve the high transfer rate. However, these trends of optical disc drives tend to increase the temperature of the actuator part, it causes some problems on the performance of optical parts - the resonance frequency of the actuator is down to lower band and the objective lens, coil and magnet are easily damaged. In this study, to overcome these thermal problems, the numerical simulations of heat transfer were performed. As the result of simulations, the thermal characteristic of the hybrid actuator is better than the previous design. And, it shows the good dynamic performance in experiment.

Hall-effect Properties of Single Crystal Semiconductor p-GaSe Dopes with $Er^{3+}$ (Erbium 도핑된 p-GaSe 단결성의 홀 효과 특성)

  • Optical and electrical properties of GaSe:Er\ulcorner single crystals grown by the Bridgenman technique have been investigated by using optical absorption and h\Hall-effect measurement system. The Hall coefficients were mea-sured by using a high impedance electrometer in the temperature range from 360K to 150K. The temperature dependence of hole concentration show the characteristic of a partially compensated p-type semiconductor. Carrier density(N\ulcorner) of GaSe doped with Erbium was measured about 3.25$\times$10\ulcorner [cm\ulcorner] at temperature 300K, which was higher than undoped specimen. Photon energy gap (E\ulcorner) of GaSe:Er\ulcorner specimen was measured about 1.79eV.

  • The light efficiency of fringe-field switching (FFS) mode when using a liquid crystal (LC) with positive dielectric anisotropy was found to be dependent on the magnitude of dielectric anisotropy, such that the lower dielectric anisotropy, the higher. We studied out not only light efficiency but also response time according to dependence on the magnitude of dielectric anisotropy. Rising and decay time became fast and slow respectively according to decreasing the magnitude of dielectric anisotropy. This paper investigates electro-optical characteristic of FFS mode using LC with a positive dielectric anisotropy dependent on the magnitude of dielectric anisotropy of the LC.

A Study of Electro-optical Characteristics of Full-HD LCOS Panel Depending on Various Cell Gaps (Full-HD LCOS Panel의 Cell Gap의 변화에 따른 전기광학적 특성에 대한 연구)

  • The electro-optical characteristics of the Liquid Crystal on Silicon (hereinafter "LCOS") micro-display on vertically alignment (VA) mode were studied with 3-dimensional LC code. 5 different cell gaps, such as 1.4 ${\mu}m$, 1.8 ${\mu}m$, 2.1 ${\mu}m$, 2.4 ${\mu}m$ and 2.8 ${\mu}m$, were selected. The reflectance-voltage (R-V) characteristics, distribution of reflected light, reflectance, optical fill factor and contrast ratio were calculated and investigated depending on various cell gaps. Due to the surface anchoring effect, higher cell gap showed higher reflectance. However, considering the optical fill factor and contrast ratio, middle-height 2.1 ${\mu}m$ showed the best electro-optical characteristic. 0.7 inch Full-HD LCOS panels having same geometry and material property were fabricated. The reflected light intensity and contrast ratio were measured and the measured results were well-matched to the calculated results.

  • We obtain a solution of optical parametric amplification using self-phase modulation within the Kerr media in a nonlinear interferometer with two arms. We show that it is equivalent to the solution driven by four-wave mixing and that the solution of parametric amplification is suitable to generate a parametric gain. We obtain a derivative of power gain with respect to the propagation distance and show that gain-saturation can occur as the beam propagates along the nonlinear arms. We also show a bandwidth characteristic of the parametric amplification driven by nondegenerate four-wave mixing. Numerical examples are given to illustrate that the solution of the parametric amplification can be applied to design and analysis of all-optical devices such as all-optical amplifiers.

  • In this paper, we wrote about the basic experimentation of Optical CT's temperature characteristic to measure high-current in a super-high-voltage electric power equipment which is using Faraday effect. We used the 1310[nm] Laser Diode as the light source and PIN Photodiode as receiver. For the transmission line of light, we used 30[m] single mode fiber which could maintain the state of polarization in the optical fiber. For the experiment, the temperature transformation device make by aluminium. the The range of current was from 400[A] and 1300[A] and the range of temperature was from $-40[^{\circ}C]\;to\;50[^{\circ}C]$. In a same experimental condition, magnitude increased input current increase follow by increasing proportion of input current.

  • 전하가 다른 두 종류의 토너입자를 ITO 기판에 격벽 높이의 차이를 두어 제작한 패널을 사용하였다. 토너입자를 충전할 때 동일한 격벽 높이의 패널을 사용하는 것과 서로 다른 패널을 사용하여 합착, 2가지 type을 제작하였다. 제작된 패널을 전압별로 구동하고 각 구동전압에서의 광특성을 측정하였다. 셀 내부에 충전되어 있는 입자보다 운동량이 적은, 즉 셀 내부에서도 격벽 표면에 흡착되어 있는 토너입자들이 구동과 광특성에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 평가하였다.

  • In this paper, We measured an electric and optical characteristics for electrodeless fluorescent lamp system. We used the CCD(charged couple device) and Integrating Sphere Photometer to detect the accurate variation of data and got a characteristic of output voltage and current, luminance, luminous flux etc. And then we come to understand that the efficiency of electrodeless fluorescent lamps are similar to CFLs(compact fluorescent lamp) or HID(high intensity discharge lamp).

  • We have presented in the paper preliminary results on physical characteristic parameters of a photopolymer LPPF 301 CP. The weak azimuthal anchoring energy (${\sim}5.0{\times}10^{-6}J/m^2$) of a photopolymer was measured by using a simple optical method. High pretilt up to $30^{\circ}$ has been achieved in the photoaligned cell by irradiating an obliquely incident UV light.
