A Study on Ignition and Fire Risks of Electric Heat Wire (전기적 열선의 발화 및 화재 위험성에 관한 연구)

  • This study aims to examine the risk of electrical fire in places where electric heat wires are used. In general, the use of electric heating wires is becoming more common and prevalent in a bid to prevent increasing damage caused by freezing and bursting in residential water pipes, factory pipes and irrigation pipes in vinyl greenhouse and a variety of heat wire products are available in market with legal safety requirements imposed on them. However, the widespread use of anti-freezing burst heat wire products has caused increasing incidents of fire, which often fail to be incorporated into statistics due to quick onsite extinguishing and insignificant damage although damage is gradually on the rise. Against this backdrop, this study aims to look into the possibility of ignition caused by electric heat wires and the mechanism of how it turns into catching fire through overheat and short circuit tests for anti-freezing burst electrical heat wires (hereinafter called the 'heat wire') and expects to serve as the basis for further observations and analyses on the cause of fire and the process of ignition in a scientific manner.

  • The cross-linked polyethylene(herein after XLPE) insulated power cable emit the methane($CH_4$)gas in the course of chemical cross-linking process. The general stranded conductor easily discharge this methane gas through the gap of each stranded wires. But the special stranded conductor that filled with semi-conducting rubber compound to prevent water penetration which is applied to water proof type of cable(22.9kV CN/CV-W), disturb the methane gas emission. The pre-mold type cable joint shall be expanded gradually by emit of gas left in XLPE insulation. For example, sometimes the corona problem outbreak on a new power distribution line, resulted from the gap between the sleeve and semi-conductive layer of cable joint. If above mentioned problem especially happened on the way of operating. We have to shut down the line and try to discharge the methane gas in cable joint. In this point, we would like to explain the mechanism of methane gas & cable joint and our test result briefly. At last, we are pleased to introduce the solution for preventing reoccurrence of this problem.

  • 전통적으로 초고압 지중케이블 접속함으로 현장에서 절연을 형성하여 전기적 성능을 유지하는 TMJ(Tape Molded Joint), TJ(Taped Joint), EMJ(Extruded Molding Joint) 및 공장에서 절연물을 가공하여 현장에서 조립만으로 설치를 완료하게 되는 PJ(Prefabricated Joint), PMJ(Pre-Molded Joint) 등이 사용되어 왔다. 최근에 PMJ에 사용되는 재료의 발전과 PMJ의 조립시간 단축, 원가 절감 및 공장 출하시 검사에 의한 신뢰성 향상으로 지중케이블 접속함 시장에서 PMJ의 비중이 점차 확대 되어가고 있다. 이에 당사는 이미 230kV급 PMJ의 개발을 완료하였으며, 이러한 기술적 배경을 바탕으로 현재 PMJ로서는 세계에서 최고 전압급에 속하는 400kV급 PMJ의 개발을 완료하게되었다.

Frictional Characteristics of Wire Electric Discharge Machined STDll Surface (STD11 와이어 방전가공면의 마찰특성)

  • Frictional behavior of wire electric discharge machined surfaces of spheroidized annealed STDll steel was investigated. The surfaces were produced with a various series of finish cuts where pulse energy was reduced with increase in the number of finish cuts. Roughness and micro-hardness of the surfaces were also measured. It is observed that the increase in the number of finish cuts produces the surface exhibiting lower frictional resistance followed by higher resistance after considerable wear. Effects of finish cuts on the friction characteristics are discussed with the aid of roughness and micro-hardness of the surfaces.

  • 기존의 Porcelain Bushing은 기계적 성능이 약하여 작은 충격에도 손상이나 파손 등이 발생되며 오손에 의한 전기적 성능의 저하로 오염이 심한지역에서의 사용이 제한되며 정기적으로 세정등 유지보수가 필요하다. 이러한 문제점을 보완하기 위해 절연성능 및 내 오손 특성이 우수한 Composite Bushing으로 바뀌고 있는 추세이다. 당사에서는 최근에 170kV GIS용 Composite Bushing 인증을 완료하였으며 본 논문에서는 362kV급 GIS용 Composite Bushing에 대한 개발 내용을 기술하였다.

  • This paper handles with effect of electromagnetic force on the cables by fault current accompanied by accident of underground transmission cable. Even though underground transmission cable is an essential transmission method to supply stable power for downtown and population center, interaction of electromagnetic force from fault current is very large comparing to overhead transmission line due to restricted installation space such as tunnel, etc. and close consideration is required for it. This paper describes the effect of electromagnetic force through results of three phase short-circuit test and electromagnetic force analysis using theoretical calculations and electrical evaluation test after three phase short-circuit test, which will be utilized as basic materials for improvement and development of cleat, hanger, etc. to reduce and release effect of electromagnetic force in the future.

  • Even though underground transmission cable is an essential transmission method to supply stable power for downtown and population center, interaction of electromagnetic force from fault current is very large comparing to overhead transmission line due to restricted installation space such as tunnel, etc. and close consideration is required for it. This paper presents countermeasures to reduce and release the effect of electromagnetic force with rope binding and installation of spacer and describes its efficacy through three phase short-circuit test, which will be utilized as basic materials for improvement and development of cleat, hanger, etc. to reduce and release effect of electromagnetic force in the future.

  • Specimem of silicone rubber used to make the weathersheds for High-Voltage composite insulator were aged in laboratory. The aging characteristics of silicone rubber have been assessed by compairing their hydrophobicity and electrical properties, before and after aging with weather ometer. Results show that their initial and time dependant characteristics are good.

  • While the modern society has been highly diversified and civilized, the demand for the safty of a power transmission has been greatly increased. For the underground cable, the performance of the electrical equipments is being improved by developing a new technology, and the reliability of the power supply is being up graded by impressing the diagnostic and monitoring technology of the system. In this paper the aging procedure of O.F and XLPE cables are described, including the diagnostic and monitoring equipments and the future subject.

  • In this paper, we describe the development of 345kv OF cables to contain also the cable employing new insulation paper, PPLP (Poly propylene Laminated paper). The cables all show very excellent properties, especially PPLP cable has less the dielectric loss and better the impulse & A.C strength than the one employing the conventional paper. Therefore, according to use PPLP cable, it seems to be several advantages such as the compact of system, the increasing capacity, and the decreasing energy loss etc.
