Purpose: The aim of the present study was to compare clinical antiplaque and antigingivitis effect between Light Emitting Diode (LED) electronic toothbrush and electronic toothbrush without LED for gingivitis and mild periodontitis patients. Materials and Methods: 30 patients included in this study. 15 patients in experimental group used LED electronic tooth brush which has red and white LED within its head, and other 15 patients in control group used same product which specially modified that function without LED. Clinical parameters ($L{\ddot{o}}e-Silness$ gingival index (GI), Quigley-Hein plaque index (PI)) were measured at the baseline, 2 weeks and 4 weeks later. Wilcoxon signed rank test and Mann-Whitney test were used for statistical analysis. Results: Compare of GI change between experimental and control group with time, both groups showed that reduced GI, but lower GI values detected at 2 weeks and 4 weeks later in experimental group than control group. And lower PI values detected at 4 weeks later in experimental group than control group, but not statistically significant. Conclusion: Based on these results and within the limits of this study, the electronic toothbrush with LED could reducing gingivitis in a short period and infer that decreasing plaque accumulation in a long period.

Inductive power transfer module(IPTM) is a contact-less power supply device and its application range has been extended to the large capacity devices such as electric vehicles, industrial mover and railway system as well as small capacity devices such as electric toothbrush charger, celluar phone charger, and so on. For railway application, the IPTM will transfer energy while train stops at a station for around 30[sec]. Therefore, equivalent circuit parameters and coupling coefficient of IPTM are an important design factor for the high energy transfer efficiency. This paper investigates the properties of equivalent circuit parameters and coupling coefficient of U-U type IPTM and U-I type IPTM using an analytical method and experimental method. Considering the coupling coefficient of the U-U type is larger than U-I type's, the U-U type is suitable for an application which need maximum power transfer and high efficiency.

Interest in Wireless Power Transmission (WPT) technology has been increasing worldwide recently. This trend is proved by commercialized products such as electric toothbrush, wireless razor, and wireless charger for mobile phone battery. Studies for enhancing the applicability of the technology have been continuously conducted. Currently the WPT technology is based on the technologies using microwave, inductively coupling, and magnetic resonance. In the meantime, development of the microwave-based WPT faces difficulty due to health hazards involved in the technology, and application of the WPT technology using inductively coupling is restricted by area due to the problem of transmission length. In comparison, the WPT technology using magnetic resonance draws attention in terms of efficiency and transmission length. In this study, the sending coil based on the WPT technology using magnetic resonance system was replaced with an HTS coil to enhance transmission efficiency. Since the HTS coil has a zero resistance, power transmission loss can be minimized. At the same time, size of the current density could be increased to 100 times or more than typical coils. In addition, through impedance matching of LC device, maximal resonance properties were induced and consequently, frequency selection quality characteristics or Q was enhanced. As a result, the WPT type using the HTS coil showed a longer transmission length and better transmission efficiency compared with the WPT type using typical coils.
This study investigated the relationship between oral health knowledge, behavior and orthodontic satisfaction in orthodontic patients visiting dental hospitals and clinics and provided suggestions to improve orthodontic patients' satisfaction. This study anayzed structured self-administered questionnaires collected from 245 patients who visited 5 dental clinics in Gwangju Metropolitan City. Regarding oral health knowledge, the highest percentage of correct answers was for the item "Cavities heal themselves over time" (97.1%), and the lowest percentage of correct answers was for the item "Cavity bacteria move from tooth to tooth" (16.7%). Five fluoride items showed a lower percentage of correct answers than those for cavity and gingival diseases. Regarding the survey on oral health behavior, the highest score was found for the item "I brush my teeth with a certain method and order" (3.78 out of 5), and the lowest score was found for the item "I use an electric toothbrush" (1.34 out of 5). Regarding the survey on orthodontic satisfaction, the highest score was found for the item "I would recommend receiving medical treatment at the department of orthodontics" (4.23), and the lowest score was found for the item "Orthodontic cost is reasonable" (3.46). While oral health behavior had on orthodontic satisfaction, oral health knowledge had no effect on it. Oral health behaviors should be improved to enhance orthodontic satisfaction. To improve oral health behavior, it is necessary to develop and activate education programs for tooth brushing and oral care for orthodontic patients.

Background: This study tries to compare and analyze the removal effect of dental plaque of general dentifrice and pregnant women's dentifrice and quantify the results to provide basic data so that consumers can make reasonable choices when purchasing dentifrice, and also increase interest in the dental plaque. Methods: After forming a dental plaque (carbohydrate porridge) on the labial surface of the bovine teeth, a disclosing agent was applied. Then the same experimenter brushed the surface of the bovine teeth using an electric toothbrush and took photographs using a DSLR camera. Thereafter, the residual amount of dental plaque was analyzed using the ImageJ program, and SPSS 26.0 was used for statistical processing. Results: The average residual amount of dental plaque using the general dentifrice was 11.71% for Perio, 9.45% for Cliden, and 8.47% for 2080, and the average residual amount for the three types was approximately 9.88%. The average residual amount of dental plaque of pregnant women's dentifrice was 13.95% for Jeninmothers, 12.53% for Tntnmoms, and 12.63% for Mommiracle, and the average residual amount of the three types was approximately 13.04%. On comparing the average residual amount of dental plaque between general and pregnant women's dentifrices, it was observed to be 3.16% higher for the latter. However, the results were not statistically significant. Conclusion: According to the research results, there was no significant difference in removal effects of general dentifrice and pregnant women's dentifrice. In addition, when a pregnant woman uses the right toothbrushing method with pregnant women's dentifrice, it can prevent or inhibit the progression of the gestational periodontal disease. Therefore, we recommend pregnant women to use pregnant women's dentifrices.

This study carried out questionnaire survey and experiment on oral hygiene effects according to the actual condition of using oral care products and the amount of toothpaste used targeting 40 freshmen and sophomores in dental hygienics in some universities from November 8, 2010 to November 26. The collected data was analyzed by using SPSS WIN 15.0 program. The following conclusions were obtained. 1. The result of actual condition of toothbrushing is as follows. As the answer of a question about whether or not toothbrushing after every meal at ordinary times, the largest was 47.5% of being average. The occasion of toothbrushing before going to bed at ordinary times was the largest with 47.5%. The daily toothbrushing frequency was 3 times mostly and the general toothbrushing method at ordinary times was a rolling method. The frequency of exchanging toothbrushes for the past 1 year was 3 times, which is the largest with 45.0%. 2. As a result of the actual condition of using oral care products, the majority of students don't use electric toothbrush, interdental brush, or mouth-rinse except dental floss. Accordingly, there need to be education and promotion with diverse methods so that a patient oneself can prevent oral disease by selecting and using oral care products that are proper for each individual. Also, it was indicated that there is no big difference in oral hygiene effects depending on the amount of toothpaste used. Thus, to avoid wasting toothpaste, we need to educate and promote to use the amount of toothpaste under 0.3g.
