Smart City Mobility and Road Innovation: A Study of Complete Street Adoption and Consideration Factors using the Delphi Method (스마트시티 모빌리티와 도로혁신: 델파이 기법을 활용한 완전도로 도입 및 고려 요인에 관한 연구)

  • In the process of building the future of smart cities, innovation in mobility and road infrastructure is one of the most important topics. In particular, with the proliferation of autonomous vehicles and various types of mobility on the road, such as electric bicycles, electric kickboards, and electric wheels, roads have a variety of actors to accommodate, including traditional cars and pedestrians, and conflicts between them need to be resolved. Complete streets, a term coined in the United States in 2003, refers to the design and operation of roads that consider the equitable safety and convenience of all road users, including pedestrians, bicyclists, public transportation users, personal mobility (PM) users, and automobile drivers. Currently, many cities overseas are implementing complete streets, and research is being actively conducted to institutionalize them. However, there is a lack of research and discussion on complete streets in Korea. Therefore, this study aims to formalize the main factors to be considered in the design of complete streets by collecting and analyzing the opinions of academic and practitioner experts through the Delphi method. A total of three Delphi surveys were conducted, collecting free responses from experts through the first open-ended survey and organizing them into keywords to create the second and third closed-ended surveys. The second and third rounds of the survey consisted of a total of 52 questions, and 34 items out of 52 were selected as the final factors.

Estimation of Electric Properties of Insulating Silicone Rubbers Added Reinforcing Fillers (보강성 충전제를 첨가한 절연용 실리콘 고무의 전기 특성 평가)

  • Estimation of the dielectric properties of insulating silicone rubbers added reinforcing fillers $(SiO_2,\;0{\sim}140phr)$ are very important to investigate the polymer structure. The characteristies of the dielectric absorption in insulating silicone rubbers were studied in the frequency range from 30Hz to 1MHz at the temperature range from $0{\sim}170^{\circ}C$. In the case of non-filled specimen, the dielectric loss is due to the syloxane which is the main chain of silicone rubber at the low temperature below $50^{\circ}C$ and the frequency at 330Hz, and is due to methyl and vinyl radical over the frequency of 1MHz. It is confirmed that the methyl radical or the vinyl radical becomes thermal oxidation at the high temperature over $100^{\circ}C$ and then the dielectric disperssing owing to the carboxyl radical Is appeared. In the case of filled specimen, the dielectric constant is in creased with the additives of reinforcing fillers due to the effect of interfacial polarization explained by MWS(Maxwell-Wagner-Sillars)'s law. The dielectric loss is decreased by the disturbance of reinforcing fillers that is permeated between networks.

  • This paper proposes a novel active frequency drift (AFD) method for the islanding prevention of grid-connected photovoltaic inverter. To detect the islanding phenomenon of grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) inverters concerning about the safety hazards and the damage to other electric equipments, many kinds of anti-islanding methods have been presented. Among them, AFD method using chopping fraction enables the islanding detection to drift up (or down) the frequency of the voltage during the islanding situation. In this paper, injecting the periodic zero current into the basic AFD method is proposed. This proposed method shows the analytical design value of cf to meet the test procedure of IEEE Std. 1547 with various load conditions. Detection of islanding is verified using simulation tool PSIM.

  • It has been applied using cranes or insertion methods to install heavy structures to strengthen existing railway bridges. These methods are uneconomical because of two reasons. The first one is it is required to construct approach roads for heavy equipment and/or working yard. The second one is the electric lines shall be cutoff during construction. Both require additional construction cost and duration. In this study, new transport equipment was developed which can be applied to heavy structures up to 100 ton. Using this method, the heavy structure can be loaded into the new transport equipment at working yard and transported to the working site. This method can be applied, but not limited to railway bridge or roadbed rehabilitation. It was found that the precious construction can be achieved to install heavy structure using this method. The experimental construction to make non-ballast girder bridge composite with new pc deck slab using this method was carried out for Jewon bridge. The example bridge is in extreme condition because it locates above national road #38 within extreme transition curve and has 10 ‰ slope and skew. The experimental construction results were satisfactory both for safety and construction precision.

  • The BESS(Battery Energy Storage System) is an useful device for load leveling, but the high cost, installation space and safety issues are the main barriers for supplying it widely. The important factor in supplying BESS to customers successfully is the payback period. As most of the H/W cost factors are uncontrollable, the optimization of storage volume can be useful factor in improving payback period. In order to obtain optimized BESS volume, the load factor, demand ratio, peak shaving ratio, electric rates and benefits from DR participation of customer should be analyzed. In this paper, we could verify the peak cutting capability and cost effectiveness under the some proposed conditions and changing value of PCS and battery based on the customers data after volume optimization process was applied, and we can identified the saturation point of load factor and shortening of customer's payback period.

  • In this study, in order to develop the composition ceramics with the excellent electrocaloric properties, $(Pb_{0.88}La_{0.08})(Zr_{0.65}Ti_{0.35})O_3$ ceramics were fabricated by the conventional solid-state method. Electrocaloric effects of $(Pb_{0.88}La_{0.08})(Zr_{0.65}Ti_{0.35})O_3$ ferroelectric ceramics were investigated and discussed using the characteristics of P-E hysteresis loops at wide temperature range from room temperature to $220^{\circ}C$. The temperature change ${\Delta}T$ due to the electrocaloric effect was calculated by Maxwell's relations, and reached the maximum of ~0.19 at $190^{\circ}C$ under applied electric field of 30 kV/cm.

  • This study was performed to survey the characteristics of surface water and soil in Wangdungjae wetland located at Chiri-Mountain. The results of survey summarized as follows; 1. The physico-chemical characteristics of surface water such as pH, temperature, and DO were in the range of 6.02-6.39, $13.5-24.3^{\circ}C$ and 3.81-9.97 mg/L, respectively. Also, the organic concentrations such as BOD and COD were in the range of 1.3-1.61 mg/L and 3.55-9.97 mg/L, respectively. The water quality of five different sampling sites showed the similar characteristics. 2. The physico- chemical characteristics of soil showed the different properties with the soil sampling depth. According to increasing sampling depth, cation exchange capacity (CEC) and electric conductivity (EC) increased but pH decreased. 3. The future survey and researches on surface water and soil environments are needed to preserve the Wangdungjae wetland at Chiri-mountain marsh.

  • In nuclear fuel manufacturing process, end-closure welding has long been recognized as requiring very high integrity. In this basic study, ECT(eddy current testing) method for end-closure welding has been developed to detect end cap weld discontinuities for nuclear fuel safety. In order to improve the inspection reliability, the maximum scanning speed and the maximum frequency is investigated for end-closure welding inspection. The bandpass filter(0-250Hz) is used for removing noise effects. This study shows that ECT method is effective and sensitive for the detection of small defect(0.35mm diameter).

  • In hybrid or electric vehicles, the hydraulic brake system must be controlled cooperatively with the traction motor for regenerative braking. Recently, a motor driven brake system with a PMSM (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) has replaced conventional vacuum boosters to increase regenerative power. Unlike industry motor controls, additional source codes such as functional safety are essential in automotive applications to meet ISO26262 standards. Therefore, the control logic execution time increases, which also causes an extension of the motor current control period. The increased current control period makes precise motor current control challenging inhigh speed ranges where the motor is driven by high frequency. In this paper, a PWM update strategy and a time delay compensation method are suggested to improve current control and system performance. The proposed methods are experimentally verified.

Fast Microchip Electrophoresis Using Field Strength Gradients for Single Nucleotide Polymorphism Identification of Cattle Breeds

  • A microchip electrophoresis (ME) method was developed using a programmed field strength gradients (PFSG) for the single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) based fast identification of cattle breeds. Four different Korean cattle (Hanwoo) and Holstein SNP markers amplified by allele-specific polymerase chain reaction were separated in a glass microchip filled with 0.5% poly(ethyleneoxide) ($M_r$ = 8 000 000) by PFSG as follows: 750 V/cm for 0 - 14 s, 166.7 V/cm for 14 - 31 s, 83.3 V/cm for 31 - 46 s, and 750 V/cm for 46 - 100 s. The cattle breeds were clearly distinguished within 45 s. The ME-PFSG method was 7 times and 5 times faster than the constant electric field ME method and the capillary electrophoresis- PFSG method, respectively, with a high resolving power ($R_s$ = 5.05 - 9.98). The proposed methodology could be a powerful tool for the fast and simultaneous determination of SNP markers for various cattle breeds with high accuracy.
