  • This paper deals with the characteristic and thermal analysis of brushless motors for Rack assist type Electric Power Steering(REPS). The performance of permanent magnet is under the influence of temperature. To predict the motor performance, the thermal analysis is necessary. The equivalent thermal network is composed of the thermal resistance and the temperature of major parts is calculated according to the operating condition.

  • A circuit-domain model of PWM inverter provides accurate simulation results in consideration of detail switching characteristics. Although, a huge amount of computation time is demanded for the simulation results of several ten seconds, which is the required time to analyze system behaviors or control performances of Electric Power Steering(EPS) on real drive condition. This paper describes the nonlinear inverter model for fast dynamic simulation of EPS without the PWM concept through analyzing the effect of nonlinear switching characteristics like dead time, forward voltage drop and conduction resistance. Some inverter models including proposed model are compared from two standpoints which are computation time and accuracy. The comparison results show the usefulness of the developed model in order to develop the control algorithm through the fast prediction of system behaviors.

횡풍하의 차량 외란 추정을 이용한 차선 유지 조향 보조 제어기 설계 (Design of Lane Keeping Steering Assist Controller Using Vehicle Lateral Disturbance Estimation under Cross Wind)

  • This paper presents steering controller for unintended lane departure avoidance under crosswind using vehicle lateral disturbance estimation. Vehicles exposed to crosswind are more likely to deviate from lane, which can lead to accidents. To prevent this, a lateral disturbance estimator and steering controller for compensating disturbance have been proposed. The disturbance affecting lateral motion of the vehicle is estimated using Kalman filter, which is on the basis of the 2-DOF bicycle model and Electric Power Steering (EPS) module. A sliding mode controller is designed to avoid unintended the lane departure using the estimated disturbance. The controller is based on the 2-DOF bicycle model and the vision-based error dynamic model. A torque controller is used to provide appropriate assist torque to driver. The performance of proposed estimator and controller is evaluated via computer simulation using Matlab/Simulink.

로봇팔을 지닌 물류용 자율주행 전기차 플랫폼 개발 (Development of Autonomous Driving Electric Vehicle for Logistics with a Robotic Arm)

  • In this paper, the development of an autonomous electric vehicle for logistics with a robotic arm is introduced. The manual driving electric vehicle was converted into an electric vehicle platform capable of autonomous driving. For autonomous driving, an encoder is installed on the driving wheels, and an electronic power steering system is applied for automatic steering. The electric vehicle is equipped with a lidar sensor, a depth camera, and an ultrasonic sensor to recognize the surrounding environment, create a map, and recognize the vehicle location. The odometry was calculated using the bicycle motion model, and the map was created using the SLAM algorithm. To estimate the location of the platform based on the generated map, AMCL algorithm using Lidar was applied. A user interface was developed to create and modify a waypoint in order to move a predetermined place according to the logistics process. An A-star-based global path was generated to move to the destination, and a DWA-based local path was generated to trace the global path. The autonomous electric vehicle developed in this paper was tested and its utility was verified in a warehouse.

전기 유압식 동력 조향시스템용 외접형 기어펌프의 유량특성 근사식에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Approximate model of the Flow rate Characteristics in External Gear pump for EHPS)

  • Electro-Hydraulic Power Steering(EHPS) 시스템은 오일펌프에 직결된 전기모터를 통해 조향 조작력을 발생시키는 시스템이다. 이러한 스티어링 시스템 부품의 원가 및 성능을 최적화시키는 것은 매우 중요하다. 현재까지 EHPS 시스템과 같은 유압시스템의 개발은 실차 실험을 통해 문제점을 보완하여 개발하고 있기 때문에 많은 시간과 비용이 발생한다. 본 논문에서는 EHPS용 개발한 외접형 기어펌프의 토출유량측정실험을 수행하고 실험 데이터를 통하여 토출유량을 계산할 수 있는 유량 근사식을 제안하였다. 제안한 유량 근사식의 검증을 위해 실험데이터 및 AMESim 유량값과 비교하였고, 그 결과 각각의 유량특성간 오차율 5%내외로 유사성을 입증하였다.

  • The increment of electric power demand causes interest on new higher power system such as 42V Power Net, and furthermore necessity for development of energy storage device is highlighted recently. Owing to high efficiency and easy speed control of brushless DC(BLDC) motor, the demand of BLDC motor that has high power and low noises are increasing. Especially demand of interior permanent magnet(IPM) type BLDC with high efficiency and high power in electric motion vehicle is increasing. This paper presents the design of the BLBC motor for EHPS(Electro-Hydraulic Power Steering) in 42V system and verified the characteristics by simulation and test results.
